Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

Evening all, - Holsten - so glad you had good news at your check up, definitely a Wine fro you Smile

Sending much love to those having a tearful or wobbly time at the moment. All this stuff messes with your head so much, any semblance of holding things together is pretty damn good, and here is just the place to let it out if it all starts getting to much.

Happy birthday Mr MAS Smile

Jane, - I'm glad the funeral went well, although it must have been very emotional for you.

Forgive me if I just waving to everyone tonihgt, I've read all you posts - but I am so tired I'm not functioning very well anymore. Had a long driving lesson with my friend - great fun, and I felt as if I did well, so was pleased, - but 2 hours of concentrating had left me totally shattered.

Puffin - so pleased tohera about your mum - that does sound like a good result from her surgery - wishing her all the best in her treatment and recovery.

Lots of love to all, - will catch up propelry tomorrow. Night night xx

Excellent news holsten -yay !
Mr MAS got a nice stripy shirt from Crew, Hotel Chocolat chocs from ds and a very lovely limited edition print - nice Crew top from my parents, fudge and chocolate and an extremely generous cheque from his mum. Very nice Chinese take away and cake ! A good birthday.

topsyturner · 02/03/2012 08:12

Anyone watching BBC news ?
Sob ... Sad

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/03/2012 08:56

what's happened ?

Sometimesiwonder · 02/03/2012 09:26

oh no, what's happened? [alarmed]

Sometimesiwonder · 02/03/2012 09:54

Well, while I wait to find out Grin can I just say woo hoo for Holsten's good news, and offer a big soppy hug to Ned and anyone else who needs it.

And bloody well done to KK for surviving a two hour Shock driving lesson, with friendship and car intact. My Dad and I nearly came to blows many times when I was learning to drive, all those aeons ago.....

topsyturner · 02/03/2012 09:58

Sorry didn't mean to scare you all .
It was a father and his 2 sons . Dad had just published a book about his wife . She had made a list of 100 things she wanted her husband and sons to do after she died . (list written when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer)

List included things like she wanted her boys to go on their heelies through a museum , and how she wanted her husband to find a new partner .

Incredibly poignant ...

Sometimesiwonder · 02/03/2012 10:06

Oh God. I am glad I missed that, I'd have been in bits. What a great woman....

I'll raise a Wine to her and her family.

topsyturner · 02/03/2012 10:11

I wish I had missed it too sometimes Sad

Sometimesiwonder · 02/03/2012 10:24

At times like this, I find the answer usually lies in getting out in the fresh air, or putting on banging music and dancing badly [where's my Jesus and Mary Chain CD?]

topsyturner · 02/03/2012 10:55

It's an Abba cd and doing the housework for me Grin

smee · 02/03/2012 11:06

Heck Topsy. I always want to put my fingers in my ears and sing loudly whenever I see things like that on the news. Sad Abba sounds perfect, though housework?! Shock

Ned, how you today?? Hope you're feeling a bit more like your old self.

Trivial question of the week, but do you all still use normal deodorant? I use an aluminium free one since Rads, which is fine but really nowhere near as good. if all you wise woman say you're still slapping on the normal stuff I'll be bold and go back there. Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 02/03/2012 11:15

I am using normal, Smee, though I only use it if I am going to be going out somewhere during the day: if I am just going to bang away on the pooter all day, which is usually, I don't use it, unless the weather is hot. I really don't sweat a lot just pottering around the house and I shower every day, sometimes twice - and I believe I have mentioned my frequent knicker-changing before (trying a bit too hard to make you believe I don't stink, now, aren't I?)

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/03/2012 11:16

slapping on the normal stuff - there's no real evidence of it causing bc Smile

KurriKurri · 02/03/2012 11:45

Oh topsy - that is a sad story, she sounds a great woman.

ABBA is the answer (to most questions!) get dancing and sing loudly 'Thank you for the MUSIC....' always gets me embarrassing myself singing.

Smee - I use ordinary deoderant (a sensitive skin roll on one. I've used the lush stick type ones before now as well, but they can be a bit messy). Probably TMI, but one my rads side, the hair has never grown back, and I don't sweat, so I really only have one armpit to deal with - halving my deod. costs Grin

We survived the driving lesson because she is the sort of friend where we can say anything without offending each other! So there was a lot of 'CONTROL the car' and 'SHIT, will you slow down for potholes' from her and mumbled 'oops' from me Grin - we went off road on rough tracks - so tricky for me, but good steering practice avoiding ruts and bumps.

I should have been at keep fit this morning, but couldn't get up this morning Blush I think its the old thyroid messing about still.

Hope everyone has a good day today Smile weather a bit duller here, - yesterday we could sit outside and drink our coffee in the sunshine. Smile

OP posts:
smee · 02/03/2012 12:03

Right you've convinced me, am off to Boots later. The Aluminium free one is fine, but if you leave it on a bit long you get a really weird smell. Not sweat, more musty old man..! (tmi!)

Kurri, i like the sound of your friend. What are you going to do about your thyroid? Have you any more tests/ appointments on the horizon?

MAS, forgot to say but your DH's presents sound good. You do birthdays very well in your house. Smile

I've decided not to swim to see if that helps my shoulder - well that's my excuse. Wink. Not so convinced it's a tumour today, as Paranoia's safely locked in her box, but will be really annoyed if it's another long term thing. Have quite had enough of all this. Friday, so Wine tonight. Am sure that's medicinal.

KurriKurri · 02/03/2012 12:18

I'm having a blood test Smee, - too see whether stopping the medication was enough, or whether I need some thyroxine now because I've gone under active. I do feel as if that is probably the case - but there's always the thought that it might be sheer laziness on my part making me so tired! Grin

I also thought DH's birthday sounded lovely MAS - you go that extra mile Smile

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 02/03/2012 12:18

a blood test on Monday I meant to say

OP posts:
Gigondas · 02/03/2012 12:25

No i doubt its a tumour smee. And even if you are stupid unlucky enough to let a tumour get to be 5 inches large they can take em off says voice of experience. It is more that any strain on neck or shoulder is like back ache as it is impossible not to tweak it in daily life And Therefore takes ages to heal . But sensible to take it easy.

Saw that headline re woman and avoided - always felt uncomfortable with that before now and can't stand it now (same way can't deal with stuff on pregnancy and miscarriage issues). Just avoid on basis I know all too well what issues are and hearing newspaper etc headline is like googling . It only causes heartache and is also likely to be half reported so facts are skewed and may well not be relevant to you.

See I am sitting firmly on the paranoia box today ? Wink

Also managed to get hold for haircut so in words of dh "don't look like a tramp now". He says the loveliest things Smile

And kk - 2 hours driving is major good going so well done you. Hi to anyone missed (typing and feeding).

smee · 02/03/2012 12:48

Thanks Gig. Nice to see you sitting on the Paranoia box, even with a mighty scar on your rear end. Such dedication! Grin Well done on haircut. Always good not to look too tramp-like.

Gigondas · 02/03/2012 13:28

That is what my dh said (always a charmer - told me I looked like a young levi bellfield when I was still struggling Into normal tee shirt and jeans in early pregnancy Wink).

Am doing frenzied sorting of clothes as going on an ebay frenzy with maternity kit.

Sometimesiwonder · 02/03/2012 13:36

Gig - such a charmer! Shock Grin

I have been crap with work this week, just can't concentrate, which is bad as I have lots to do. But anyway, because of that i am also sorting madly through clothes, only bringing them in, instead of putting them out. I have just been given a bag of BEAUTIFUL clothes for dd. There is a proper leather biker jacket!!!! It is lovely! Shame dd is a very small 8 year old and i am a big fat horse or I'd be having that myself Envy

Sometimesiwonder · 02/03/2012 13:38

Levi Belfield though? Shock Seems harsh!

Did you give him a smack in the gob? Grin

smee · 02/03/2012 13:39

Ooh Sometimes, she'll look so cool. My DS has one - well it's not leather, but it looks like one. He looks like a teenager in it, as insists on wearing skinny jeans and baseball boots. Grin
