When I said 'Chomp', I meant I'd had a Crunchie AND a Chomp. And I don't even like Chomps Blush As for saving things for crosspatch children - well, you are a better Mum than me. I'd neck it and say nothing.

Got a phone conference call in five minutes. And I don't know what I'm talking about. Gulp.

Wish me luck.

smee · 19/01/2012 12:11

G'ah for that girl, Sometimes. Why is there always one in every class?

Topsy, excellent you're feeling a bit better and what a lovely sounding nurse too. I don't think they'd be seeing you tomorrow if they were going to turn you down. Just how cruel would that be!

Jane, hope dd's test goes well. Homemade bread sounds mmm.. Smile

Recap from me. Diagnosed March 2010, mastectomy and node clearance (4/22 infected), 6 x chemo, 25 x rads, then preventative mastectomy Oct 2011. Tamoxifen for me too. And dodgy implants!

MAS, that holiday cottage looks perfect. I do like that part of the country. Might try and think ahead a bit too. Not at all sure if/ what we'll be doing this year.

Wet day here. Quite nice though, as a friend with small baby is camping out as they're having a new carpet fitted. I have wasted way too much time playing and drinking coffee, but she's gone off to do some shopping with him now. Had better do some work, which is a bit of a blow. Grin

smee · 19/01/2012 12:11

LUCK for Sometimes. x posted. Smile

Hope Ned's okay. Wonder when she'll be back.

OneinEight and Marmite and Camel, how are you??

NedSchneebly · 19/01/2012 12:28

Here I am! All done and dusted and home in one piece - minus the lump!

Had to wait HOURS to go down for surgery- 4 1/2 hours in total- boooo! Finally with anaesthetist at 3.30.

Surgeon v pleased, confident he's got it all out, did X-ray and it looked good. . .

Took out 3 nodes and none affected! Very pleased with that result.

He did some "remodelling" while he was there, so evened up breast tissue, so hole in the middle not so obvious. Means very very bruised, but he said it looked good, and he was pleased.

Will catch up with everyone's news when I've caught my breath! Hope everyone OK today Smile

smee · 19/01/2012 12:32

Ooh excellent Ned, though not so good that you had to wait so long. Now curl up on the sofa and fbs all round. Smile

jchocchip · 19/01/2012 12:48

Glad you are back ned - really good news about the nodes. I second fbs and time on the sofa as dr smee said.

Sometimesiwonder · 19/01/2012 12:55

ooh ned welcome back!!

All sounds most satisfactory! I had some remodelling too, and mine is quite good, three years on (it didn't take that long to settle).

make sure you get waited on hand and foot.

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/01/2012 14:19

hooray for ned - no nodes is great !! I didn't get remodelled -bah !
Rest and consume fbs in abundance.
Meant to say grrr about horrid child sometimes - sounds utterly vile to me.

Also forgot to say I was grade 2 too.
Have dusted -hope house looks nice as book group ladies coming here this evening (all live in houses considerably bigger/grander than mine) (having said that I adore mine and wouldn't swap) Need to do a bit of work, persuade ds to revise a bit (vv important geog exam tomorrow -25% of his GCSE marks) and physics exam. And I'd like him to have a quick bath before he goes with dh to have supper at my parents so he'll get to bed a bit earlier...

Sometimesiwonder · 19/01/2012 14:25

Have a nice and bookish evening, MAS, hope the cheese box doesn't burn......

Ah yes,the vile child. Any chance of improvement is hampered by a Rottweiler mother. When she gets in trouble at school, which is often, she goes home, complains to her Mum that she got in trouble but didn't do anything wrong, and her Mum calls the school and accuses the teaching staff of bullying. I kid you not.

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/01/2012 14:47

tsk, that is very poor indeed Sad

BackforGood · 19/01/2012 14:48

Hi all. Glad all went well Ned - do some serious sitting back and being waited on for a bit now (the novelty of looking after me wore off my dc pretty quickly so take advantage while you can Wink).
My recap for Topsy - diagnosed Grade1, "caught early" end Sept. Had lump removed, nodes were clear. No chemo. Finished my rads last week. Due to start back to work (phased return) next week. Still have to see my Onc in Feb. and take Tamoxifen for 5 yrs but looking good.

Sometimesiwonder · 19/01/2012 15:08

Oh yes, dcs get v bored after they have plumped your cushion, given you the remote and got you a drink.

Just after a shot of chemo, when I felt OK but a bit [green] and tired, dd, then 5, said 'Mum, this medicine of yours isn't very fun for me' Shock This because I declined to do some colouring Grin So enjoy it while you can, Ned!!!

OneInEight · 19/01/2012 16:23

Hello all,

My summary for Topsy

Grade 3, 29 mm tumor Plus some DCIS
Mastectomy early December
Lymph nodes considered negative (some cancer cells in one but no tumors)
On first cycle of eight chemotherapy
Radiotherapy, herceptin and tamoxifen to follow

Feeling almost normal last couple of days. Can survive this if its only one week out of three feeling whacked out.

Ned - glad the op went well - impressed you got the results of the sentinel thingy already - just shows what can be done - & great of course they were negative.

topsyturner · 19/01/2012 16:34

If anyone is interested , the new series of The Big C starts back on More4 tonight .
I really enjoyed the first series , but I can understand if some of us choose not to watch !

My update .
Diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in May 2011 , grade 3 I think ! Mx and node clearance in June . Followed by 6 x chemo . 25 rads fractions . Now I have to keep having 3 monthly CT scans as I have lung secondaries , and they are saving my next round of treatment (prob Herceptin) till summat else rears its ugly head .

jchocchip · 19/01/2012 17:01

I'm really pleased with the breadmaker. Wholemeal loaf made this afternoon. Scrummy with butter and strawberry jam... oops Not a good day diet wise but I'm off to the pub later to drown my sorrows ;) May catch up with the big C later...

Glad you are having a good day 1in8.
:D at mini sometimes.

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/01/2012 18:20

bread is probably something I could never give up - mmm, wonderful stuff, esp. warm. Dh makes fab bread every so often and he cuts me a piece when it's still warm, with butter- heavenly. I can take or leave butter on bread (unless it's with marmite or it's very cold proper French butter ) Oh dear,I'm hungry now...

OP posts:
smee · 19/01/2012 19:17

Hot toast, with butter and a sliver of marmite's mmm..

Eight, glad to hear you're on the up again. Dare I ask, how's the hair??

MAS, hope the book women appreciate your dusting and good luck to DS for his exam tomorrow. Is this his last one for now?

Sometimes, that mother sounds hopeless. DS had a friend who was always getting into fights. His mother thought it was the other boys picking on him. The school worked really hard with him to make him a bit less feral, but in the end she moved him. Surprise, surprise he's having the same problems at the new school. She still can't see it might be something to do with him.

Topsy, I quite like 'The Big C', but didn't watch all of the last series. Might give it another whirl. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/01/2012 19:25

toast !! yum...
yes, last 2 exams for a bit- phew and hooray. Must go and get the wine and crisps ready ! xx

ElusiveCamel · 19/01/2012 19:29

ned I'm so glad to hear you're OK. Well done you Thanks Hope you're taking it easy and recover well x

Hospital phoned today. The nodes were benign.

KurriKurri · 19/01/2012 19:52

Camel - is that everything OK then, all clear? - If so that's wonderful, - absolutely brilliant, I am so pleased for you Smile

Ned - so glad everything went well, - and a good node result for you too, - that's excellent Smile

Sometimes, that girl has been such a pain Sad - the teachers need to get their act together and deal with her.

Just giving everyone a quick wave - I feel completely exhausted for some reason, all I've done is yoga this morning, DH has bubonic plague a cold, so maybe I'm getting that.

Quick update on me - Stage 3, Grade 3 tumour, three and a half years ago, mastectomy, followed by later op. to clear lymph nodes, chemo, rads, herceptin - all finished now, still on tamoxifen. Currently waiting for a referral to discuss reconstruction surgery. I was 48 when DX, 52 now(if that's of any interest .Grin)

jchocchip · 19/01/2012 19:52

Phew Camel, does that mean that it is not lymphoma? Are you still waiting for further results?

jchocchip · 19/01/2012 19:56

xpost kk. That cold sounds serious! Hope you don't get it. I've been asleep this afternoon, guess work and my busy day yesterday were more tiring than I thought.

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/01/2012 20:06

camel that is really good news- does that mean definitely not lymphoma ?
Hope you don't get dh's plague kk
Waiting for bookgroup ladies...oh,they're here !

OneInEight · 19/01/2012 20:55

Smee - hair present and correct so far but it is early days.

Camel - don't know anything about lymphoma diagnosis but benign sounds good to me.

Hope you avoid the man-flu Kurri.

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/01/2012 23:12
