Smee Junior's currently playing footie with a beach ball in our bedroom, so saving the world might have to wait for a moment or two. Grin

Sparkle you are so very young !! You were always fabulous btw. Wink

Jane will you stop with the running. I must get back to it. Think I will, but the days are so short when you have to pick up at 3.30

Holstein hope Macmillan Nurse calls you back soon. Must be grim to be in pain like that. Sad Maltesers on the doorstep - what a v.good idea. I think that should be on the NHS. Smile

MAS, I'll light a candle for Patience tonight. Poor thing, it doesn't sound good does it. Hope your parents are okay. They have been through a lot of late.

Kurri, my DH's mother wasn't particularly tidy - not sure what that does to your theory. Actually he's not exactly messy, but he doesn't see the need for things like dusting, so we'd be knee deep in the stuff rather than ankle deep if I didn't do it. Grin

smee · 30/01/2012 20:10

Sorry, meant to say to Sometimes yes you're right as I'm sure it will ease with time. This weekend was a bit of a jolt, as it made me realise (again!) how scary BC is. Not that I didn't know that already, but you know what I mean. Smile

amberlight · 30/01/2012 20:34

evening all. Reading through. Hugs/ Brew all round, I think.
Have re-asked consultant for advice about this numbness thingy.

holstenlips · 30/01/2012 20:52

Feeling a bit over-maltesered..have to ask the Macmillan nurse if she will take out some of my stitches , they are like barbed wire. She did it after one of my previous ops. It would help with the pain considerably I think.
Those of you who run, I run a bit too, well jog, and I can't wait to get back out there. For now tho I will shuffle, geisha style.
So, I'm wondering what they found with my lymph nodes...I was told not to think about it but y'know..
Best wishes for Patience..what a lovely name.

topsyturner · 30/01/2012 20:55

Another one with a paranoia related question here .
I have been feeling dizzy since Saturday . First of all it was only when I stood up , but now I feel dizzy just sitting on the sofa .
Can anyone say "brain mets" ???

I find it very difficult to access my GP , I don't drive and it isn't on a direct bus route . There isn't even another practice to change to that's any easier to get to . It's a 15 minute walk from my house to the bus stop , and if I am feeling dizzy like this it's just impossible to do that walk .

I am booked into the hospital on Wednesday morning for my 3 monthly CT scan . I might see if one of the BC nurses is free for a chat .

Ok ramble over , as you were ...

topsyturner · 30/01/2012 20:56

Happy Birthday Sparkle .
And candle lit for Patience .
Love to everyone else , typing not too good tonight I'm afraid .

holstenlips · 30/01/2012 20:58

Oh KK, yes a sitz bath, u basically just wash your undercarriage. I'm doing it at least 5 times a day, its quite soothing.
And the help I have is all dd's classmates mums taking her to and fro school. Various friends bringing me goodies. My family helped at the weekend. My DS is 18 so he makes me cuppas. Dd's dad bathed her tonight, he lives nearby.
Lets all have a good day tomorrow x

smee · 30/01/2012 21:35

Holstein, those stitches sound ouch. hope the nurse will agree to pull some of them. Your support network sounds perfect. Mind you anyone who leave Maltesers on the doorstep would win me over. Your son sounds lovely. Smile

Topsy, it's an ear infection and only an ear infection Obviously I'm not one to talk though! This might reassure, but I had an attack of labyrinthitis before Christmas and was convinced that was a brain tumour. Took a while, but it passed. I'd bet yours will too. Could you get a friend to drive you to GP?

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/01/2012 21:39

Oh topsy - maybe you have an ear infection ? am sure bcn will be able to reassure...paranoia is a pain.
Thanks all for kind thoughts for Patience xx

amberlight · 30/01/2012 21:47

would the GP come out to the house??

KurriKurri · 30/01/2012 21:50

Sounds as if you've got a great team of helpers Holsten - great stuff. Hope you can get the MacMillan nurse to remove the painful stitches. Your DS does sound like a great lad.

topsy - you know there's lots of other things it's more likely to be than brain mets don't you? ear related, or a virus, low blood sugar, stress because you are thinking about your CT, plus lots of other things. Have a chat with the BCN -

I am watching the programme about Social workers on BBC2 - it is very distressing. Poor poor little boy Sad

Driftwood999 · 30/01/2012 22:27

Hi Topsy - I endorse what KK says about Madame Paranoia. There are so many bugs flying about at this time of year, and so many explanations for why you feel unwell. Roll on Wednesday, when you can say how it is to them.
holstenlips - you sound a tad more chipper today, (rollercoaster) re the stitches, I think you are right in thinking that as soon as they can be removed the better. I was left with just one stitch that refused to dissolve, sticking out of my nipple, Sore etc, it wasn't until it was removed that I rapidly began to feel so much better. Considering where your stitches are, my eyes are watering. I award you the Badge of Courage Smile
Finished Rads today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Close to 3000 miles over 4 weeks.
Thinking of all, who have difficult journeys to access treatment for whatever reason.

jchocchip · 30/01/2012 22:32

Sorry Monday evening is hectic in our house taking dd2 to guides. And I've got to go to work early tomorrow - two days running! Yawn. Nighty night. sweet dreams.

Topsy, it had betterbloodynotbe brain mets. I prescribe chocolate and plenty of it in the first instance. And cashew nuts. Bloody paranoia :(

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/01/2012 22:32

well done drift - yay !

OP posts:
jchocchip · 30/01/2012 22:34

xpost drift

Yippee for the end of rads! Hope your skin heals quickly :)

topsyturner · 30/01/2012 22:36

Brilliant news Drift . That's another hurdle over !

Have googled my symptoms (I know , stop shouting at me Grin )
Everything points to anaemia . Now that would make perfect sense wouldn't it ?

Driftwood999 · 30/01/2012 22:46

Topsy - when snacking for anaemia I prescribe:
Chocolate
oranges not a chocolate orange
cashew nuts
Carefully arranged on a plate by someone else
Lots of water to avoid constipation!

KurriKurri · 30/01/2012 23:05

well done Drift - wow you have clocked up some miles girl! - as if it weren't all hard enough already without a marathon thrown in!

yes anaemia v. likely topsy - drift's snacks sound just the remedy (Guinness is supposed to be good too - or is that an old wives tale?)

Night night jane Smile and everyone else

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/01/2012 07:33

Guinness must be good for you I reckon. Anaemia can make you feel very wibbly - a long way back when I was a child I used to faint with anaemia and was unable to do anything when it was very bad.

OP posts:
jchocchip · 31/01/2012 07:47

off to work soon, hope you all have a good morning.

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/01/2012 07:49

have a good day at work jane

Dh still home poorly - am going to be drawing today.

OP posts:
topsyturner · 31/01/2012 08:46

Morning All

Late night wibbles all over and done with in the cold light of day . Everything always seems worse at 4 in the morning doesn't it ?
Loving the sound of Drifts anti anaemia snack though Grin

How are you feeling today Holsten ? Are you managing to sleep at night ?
A school mum friend of mine has just gone into hospital this week for her reconstruction surgery from what sounds like what you have just had removed (if that makes any sense ?) She was told Bastard Cancer was everywhere , had the surgery , chemo etc . And now is back fighting fit and having a reconstruction done !

Have a good day at work Jane .
And hope DH feels better soon MAS .

I might go back to bed for a couple of hours , feeling tired this morning . Shall prepare breakfast for us all when I get up again . Crumpets ok ?

NedSchneebly · 31/01/2012 09:21

Good morning everyone. Hope we are all OK this morning?

How would I know if I had an infection/ problem? My boob wound, which was fairly pain free up til now, is very sore and tender this morning, and very achy from nipple to armpit Sad. I have a stinky headache, and feeling grotty. No fever, just more ill than have for the last few days. Could just be that I slept funny? I thought I was getting better. . .

Sorry to hear about everyone's aches and pains - must be terrifying. Big hugs to all of you. X x

drift well done on the Rads marathon- that's some impressive mileage!

topsy hope you're OK today

jchocchip hope you have a good day at work

holsten thinking of you. Hope you can get stitches sorted

Toast this morning, I think. New jar of quince jam calling. Happy to share. . . .?

smee · 31/01/2012 09:27

Yes to crumpets. Can never have enough of those. Bed for a few hours sounds like a plan, Topsy.

Yay for Drift. Was thinking about you yesterday, but thought you finished today. Not sure why I thought that. How's the skin? Is it okay??

Topsy, anaemia's horrid. Makes me dizzy and want to throw up. Watch what iron supplements you take (if you take any), as those can make you feel wretched too. Some are better than others, but from memory I can't remember which is which. Confused

Kurri, did your DD enjoy herself in London?

Holsten, I hope the pain's easing and that the Nurse turns up with the stitch cutters. Smile

Jane, am impressed that you manage to post before going out to work. It's all I can do to stagger up to my computer once I've got DS to school.

Amber, when's the Consultant going to get back to you? Do you have an appointment soon?

So cold here - hope everyone's wrapped up warm. DH has just set off for a week away with his students, so me and DS have been plotting treats while he's away. So far DS's list consists of: Quavers, jelly, snow. Not sure if they sell that at the corner shop! Grin
