Thanks ladies. I'm off to hospital soon, so this is me checking out til it's all done.

Hope everyone OK this morning and that you all have a good day x x

Sometimesiwonder · 18/01/2012 10:12

Candle lit for all those getting treatment of any kind today, and all those just feeling a bit feeble. All will be well. x

Lovely cottage MAS Envy

Must dash off now to steam my poor head again and try to clear my toobs - I am so bunged up and coughing so violently I look like this Angry despite feeling quite chilled Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 18/01/2012 10:13

Ned - I'll keep a candle going all day x

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/01/2012 10:53

camel it does hit you like that I think- you seem fine and dandy and then very low-hope you can rest and relax and have fbs to hand.
Sending vibes to ned right now.
sometimes do hope your tubes are cleared soon- am lucky that my cold is quite mild -just requiring a bit of Karvol (how i love that smell)
The cottage is very sweet but really, really tiny- we had a job fitting our stuff in last time but it was cosy and clean and the owner left nice treats.

Owners bearing treats are the best!

We once rented a cottage in Cornwall where the owner brought us a pot of jam, or a bowl of fresh duck eggs, each day. His cottage was next to ours and, every day he brought his much-loved ducks into our garden to swim on the pond then took them home again to go in the shed each night (he had to bring them personally as several were so old they could no longer walk!). It was lovely but this was back when we had a dog and I can only assume someone's dog ate a duck because, after that one year, they no longer accepted dogs. Sad

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/01/2012 12:47

aw poor ducks - does sound lovely though ! This cottage is just off the owner's house, though we didn't see him at all the year before last.

I imagine Ned is at the hospital by now, I hope everything is done and she's sitting up in bed with a cup of tea.

Down days are very much par for the course unfortunately, and for those of you who've recently had ops. it can take a good week to ten days for the GA to get out of your system, plus all the emotional strain - you are very likely to feel pretty shattered. Take thing as easy as you can, - give yourself a chance to recover Smile

I am absolutely full to bursting from my 'Christmas' lunch. I had bruschetta, followed by penne pesto, followed by cheesecake. Oh and a glass of wine. Was yacking so much I nearly missed the bus home (it's the last one as well {2.00pm} - and you have to book it the day before, - phew! life in the busy metropolis eh?)

Hope all coughs colds and bunged upness is gone soon.

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/01/2012 15:22

my charming son has just returned, barged past me and grunted his way upstairs, having left his raincoat "oh somewhere' at school. This is normal behaviour- he gathers himself and becomes more civilised once he's unwound a bit. Will ask him about chemistry exam on the way to piano lesson. 'tis a thankless task sometimes, being a parent.

smee Christmas lunch sounds very yum !
Hope ned is comfy and snug in bed with it all finished.

BackforGood · 18/01/2012 16:17

mmmmm that Christmas lunch sounds yummy. Don't think I could live with the last bus being at 2pm though Grin - I'm definitely a city girl thru' and thru' !

jchocchip · 18/01/2012 17:20

Just having a quick bath to get ready for agm. Brought a breadmaker after knitting and went to visit Auntie while first loaf was cooking. Dds had got it out of machine and were waiting to start eating when I got back! A little underdone, so higher setting next time! Christmas dinner sounds lovely, glad you didn't miss the bus.

On the train tonight, hope there is some Wine!

mas - 'Its a phase' that's what I keep telling myself...

smee · 18/01/2012 17:48

Waving at the end of a run around day. Hope Ned's got through her op. Been thinking about her.

Drift, you definitely shouldn't be embarrassed to talk about reconstruction. Apart from anything else, it's interesting. I've had two implants to replace mastectomies. I amuse myself by thinking of it as a boob job on the NHS. Not one I'd have chosen, but hey. If they're offering, talk to them and think it through. I'd imagine it's not a huge procedure, so maybe not GA? That would be a major plus in my book.

Hope Figgy's son got through his blood test.

Hugs for Camel. Get thee to a sofa and stay there woman. Smile

Will try and catch up later, but got to go and nail DS to his spellings. He's promised to 'have a look', but that was at 3.30. Am not into homework as he's only 7, but his spelling really is lousy. Smile

Evening

Had a nice day today . It was the first day in ages that i have felt relatively human .
District Nurse came round today , the boss lady . And she couldn't have been lovelier . She cleaned me down and redressed me . Gave me her personal mobile number and told me to ring her if I need her at all . And she has put me on her personal list to deal with for as long as she feels I need her .
Some people just go that extra step in their jobs , and it makes such a difference to the people they are caring for !

Then a friend came and took me out to lunch . I had a cramelised pear , blue cheese , and walnut salad . And it was the nicest tasting thing I have eaten , ever !

Now relaxing infront of the tv .

Hoping ned is feeling ok this evening .
And everyone else is surviving .

Driftwood999 · 18/01/2012 19:47

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Yes, it would be a big plus/deciding factor if it did not require a GA.
Thinking of Ned, and others having treatment and everyone else on this rollercoster.

jchocchip · 18/01/2012 22:32

lunch sounds good topsy :) Hope minismee has learnt his spellings. Just tested dd2 for her science test tomorrow and she has gone and started her violin practice... Good job we don't still live in the flat!
Drift I hope you can get some information about reconstruction, if it would make you feel better it would be worth it. Agm was good, meal, election of officers and ideas for recruiting new members. I liked the idea of a choir gareth malone style, but also we thought we could compose a group song to be sung at meetings a la WI preferably funny words set to a well known melody...

MaryAnnSingleton · 18/01/2012 22:51

glad AGM was good jane - and topsy lunch sounds heavenly - yum. Hooray for wonderful nurse too- some people are just fab.
I have been making stickers to sell in my Folksy shop,if anyone might be interested (those with girls,or those who like such things) - must say,fun but time consuming to do.

Cat has woken me up and I can smell bread cooking! Don't think that a breadmaker is a positive step for my diet, but hey ho. Will be on the lookout for cheaper strong bread flour now, it was quite expensive in our local coop...

Brew and fresh bread anyone?

stickers sound fun, will take a look :)

topsyturner · 19/01/2012 07:14

Oh yum , fresh bread ? Don't mind if I do !

Lazy day today for me . First day this week that I am not going anywhere .
Got meeting tomorrow with the surgeon to talk about reconstruction . I keep dreaming that she turns me down because of my diagnosis , please don't let this happen Sad

I am so behind on what stage everyone is at .
Can we have a brief recap ?

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/01/2012 07:32

yum jane

Morning Topsy. To recap, I was diagnosed in August with grade 2 invasive ductal bc after finding a lump and had wle and snb in September. Rads during November and I've just been signed off from the oncologist. Appointment with surgeon to look forward to in March and yearly mamograms for 10 years and tamoxifen for 5 years. I have a little swelling, but otherwise I am healed up nicely. I know I have got off lightly so far. The support from the lovely ladies on this thread has been great and it is so good to have somewhere to vent.

Sometimesiwonder · 19/01/2012 09:56

Envy at everyone's nice lunches!

MAS -it 's a phase. painful though. Sad

And a quick vote for MAS's stickers. I have seen them and they are lovely.

Topsy. Your head honcho nurse sounds lovely, you deserve her, so don't be afraid to call. I don't imagine your consultant would refuse you a recon, surely not.....

Recap from me - grade 2, stage 2 BC - gosh! nearly 3 years ago - no nodes affected. Six cycles of chemo, 15 x rads, tamoxifen.

The school bully in dd's class has reverted to type after a relatively quiet few months and is now calling dd upsetting names, despite being told off by the teacher at least 3 times in one day for doing it. I know you shouldn't say these things about a 9 year old girl, but she really is vile, vile, vile. Shame really, because i am ever such good friends with her gran, but she has a total blind spot where the kid is concerned (unless she has had a few Wine, when she does come out with a few insights Hmm )

Sometimesiwonder · 19/01/2012 10:57

Crunchie, anyone?

Sometimesiwonder · 19/01/2012 11:03

Chomp

MaryAnnSingleton · 19/01/2012 11:36

oh yum- we have 2 Crunchies here -but I suppose I must save one for my crosspatch boy.
Thanks for the sticker endorsement too Grin
Recap from me for topsy dx end of April 2009 with 2.4cm invasive ductal carcinoma and dcis,WLE and SNB - no nodes, radiotherapy and tamoxifen.
