Fabulous news dig . I am so very happy for you . Hopefully you are lying drunk in a gutter somewhere right now Grin

kk !!!!!

I have missed you . And I am with you on the loud clothing thing . My motto this year is "life is too damn short to play it safe" .
But if you start wearing the tartan pjs to Tesco , you're on your own Grin

Sausage , mash and onion gravy for dinner tonight . DH and DD are at the dentist , so may need comfort food when they get home !

Sometimesiwonder · 10/01/2012 18:43

They may be loud, but I bet they don't outloud my fleece - it is dayglo orange with a lavender coloured lining in the hood. I like loud clothes too, but this may be the loudest item I have ever owned. DD's teacher laughed when she saw me Grin Hmm

Life really IS too short to play it safe.

Homemade paella here (minus the shellfish which make us all Envy ) I like the sound of the comforting sausage and mash, though

DigOfTheStump · 10/01/2012 18:47

Just on my second drink now! Thanks again for all your support; strangely have not got tearful at all, but am a bit tender and am in bed already and think I may sleep tonight, unlike last night.

Mammogram was squishy and the needle aspiration was nippier than it might be, esp as he shoogled it around to find all four cysts, but,Oh! It was worth it.

All the best to everyone else, and thank again from the bottom of my heart.

Sometimesiwonder · 10/01/2012 18:52

Good on you, Dig. I am so very glad for you.

have a drink for me (it'll save me doing it myself)

x

marmitesandwiches · 10/01/2012 18:53

Dig that is absolutely fantastic news. I am so pleased for you. Have a lovely relaxing sleep. Is all v draining!

kk - great to have you back. Have missed you!

Bit difficult to read much as still in hosp (all ok, prob home tmrrw) but waving to everyone else. Hope all doing ok. xx

DigOfTheStump · 10/01/2012 19:05

And have just eaten my own bodyweight in fbs !!!

KurriKurri · 10/01/2012 19:14

Good for you Dig Grin if ever there was a time for FBS this is it!

Hope you get out tomorrow marmite - have you still got your drain in, or have you managed to get rid of it?

KurriKurri · 10/01/2012 19:20

Oh I'm glad others are going for loud clothes I love bright colourful things, but I was always a bit shy of wearing them, now I think I'll wear what the hell I like Grin

DH is back to his winning ways - today he won a very nice fleecy lined skiing hat which I have snaffled. (Last week he won a very unpleasant apron Hmm it was a cooking equipment competition, and he came 80th or something, hence the nasty apron)

I am going to watch Bake Off tonight and then Edwin Drood,.

marmitesandwiches · 10/01/2012 19:28

Have 3 drains in but prob losing two of them before I leave and the last one shortly after. Ahhh! Will be nice to get rid of them - they're the only niggley bit, the scar seems fine. Also due biopsy results tmrrw, which I am really dreading!

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/01/2012 19:51

marmite yay for losing drains and coming home tomorrow- thinking of you getting your results (does that make sense ? you know what i mean !!)
topsy sausage and mash, one of my favourite things ever.
dig might join you with a little ginger wine.
I am very bad at bright clothes- they scare me -I think I channel my colour into my work Grin I have my new pens and they are very vibrant -am experimenting !

Oooh how lovely to log on and hear good news. Yeay for Dig. That's brilliant. Benign is indeed a lovely word. Smile Smile

Have a friend staying, so no time, but hooray to see Kurri back and also to hear you're getting to go home tomorrow Marmite. Will catch up properly tomorrow. Smile

NedSchneebly · 10/01/2012 20:43

Nice one Dig! Excellent news. Hope you sleep well.

Thanks for positive comments- sounds like I'll be Ok to do my pre-op appointment on my own!

Feeling a bit better this afternoon- don't know what was the matter with me this morning, but seem to have got over it. I guess it will come in waves a bit this week? Thanks for love and support. Have just had fbs cupcakes. Smile

Meeting my Mum for shopping on Friday- I feel some pampering coming on. . .

I think my radical colour choices are going to be in the bandanna department, if I lose my hair. Would be a good chance to make a fashion statement! Excellent to hear about everyone's bright clothing - definitely cheered me up!

Do we think Facebook is a reasonable way of spreading the news amongst less close friends and acquaintances? There are people I think would like to know, but can't face individual emails or, worse, phone calls. Some old school/ university mates I don't have individual phone numbers for anyway. Any thoughts? Good to get it over with, or too heartless? Needless to say, close friends and family all in the know already. Be honest with me. . .

Big hugs to everyone this evening.

jchocchip · 10/01/2012 20:55

I waited for my path results after my op before I went public on facebook. I felt I knew where I was then... I think it is reasonable thing to do for less close friends and saved me a lot of difficult conversations at work...

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/01/2012 22:58

yes,that's probably good advice jane

Morning All

Awake at Stupid O Clock today . Skin so sore I kept waking up all night , eventually gave up and got up at 5am .

Marmite good luck with the path results today , am thinking of you .

Anyone else with appointments today ?
Let me know so I can do my candle thing for you (will have one going for you Marmite )

Pig/Dog has come through for a cuddle . Nothing like the unconditional love of a dog . Apart from 8 stone German Shepherds who like to sit on your lap ...

ElusiveCamel · 11/01/2012 07:39

Oh, Topsy, that sucks :(

Dig such good news, hurrah Grin Not nice to have them poking around with needles, but must be such a relief!

I have the day off today. Have my pre-op assessment for the lymph removal at 11.30 and the rest of the day is going to be taken up with cleaning/sorting in flat, last bits at old house and getting my nails done later.

Hope everyone has good days and feels better (if required)

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/01/2012 07:46

you might need to have nail varnish off for surgery camel I was told to remove toenail colour which was very depressing.
topsy owww, itchiness not nice, but lovely pig dog is.

those of you that remember lalaa - she is 40 today !! happy birthday SIL !!!

ElusiveCamel · 11/01/2012 08:08

Thanks MAS, I was planning to just have clear on my nails and none on my toes. I know they watch for colour changes, although the little oxygen meter on your finger should tell them what's happening too. I hope :) The last GA I had was fine (they switched to one mid c-section), but during the last one I had before one of my lungs collapsed quite randomly and I had a desaturation episode - gave the anaesthetist something to liven up his morning anyway, I'm sure :)

amberlight · 11/01/2012 09:27

Morning all! I am reading, honest, but not coping especially well with the written format on mumsnet at the mo (faulty brain design grr) so pottering about more on facebook. But it doesnt mean I don't care about all of you. Have a Brew.

marmitesandwiches · 11/01/2012 09:31

Morning all.

Topsy so sorry that you're so sore! Doens't sound nice. Hope the doggie cuddles help but sending more v gentle ((hugs)) if you need them.

Camel hope you have a lovely relaxing time having your nails done - exactly what's needed at this point, I think. Hope your pre-op people are lovely and friendly.

Ned I think you're braver than me on the going public front. I haven't told anyone other than close family, two friends and you lot. Am just finding it easier to try toget on with life as normal. Having said that, the people I have been incredibly loving and caring - which I think is so important for recovery (they've done studies that show that feeling loved boosts your immune system). I guess people can only support you if they know!

kk sign me up for the 'more colour' campaign. Funny, you'd think the world would seem grey given the current situation but I'm actually feeling bighter and more colourful than I have for a long time. People definitely pull together in tmes of crisis and I have been really touched by the love I've been shown [clears throat and reaches for hankie].

Longer post today as now have laptop here: Some naughty tea-leafs whipped the lead flashings off our garage roof overnight Angry so now have laptop here to root out insurance details. The chaplain walked in a minute ago just as I was booting up and said he would pray for my recovery and for our insurance claim. How lovely to have a multi-tasking God! Evidence that she is indeed a woman? Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 11/01/2012 09:32

I remember Lalaa very well. Happy birthday to Lalaa - tra laa

Positive vibes to all those of you in hospital/at hospital for stuff/getting out of hospital/ getting over sore skin.

Brew for me - thanks!

Sometimesiwonder · 11/01/2012 10:22

have already eaten four chocolate biscuits. Totally incorrigible Sad

A dear friend bought me a big tin of chocolate biscuits because she has been a bit down recently and apparently I am always cheery (I think it's the drugs [grin} ). I think she just wants me to stay fatter than her.

marmitesandwiches · 11/01/2012 10:30

... if there are any going spare, sometimes will have one to dunk in my Brew from amber

All my visitors have brought me fruit. Have a tonne of it here, but no fbs. Maybe they're trying to tell me something Hmm.

Blueberry anyone? Grape?

Sometimesiwonder · 11/01/2012 10:33
