marmite Shock they took the flashing? Bloody hell!

I know what you mean about 'feeling the love'. I guess that's what I mean when I say all the fall out from BC isn't negative. I still feel the benefits of the support that came my way when I needed it most. Also I found I got a kick up the bum to live for now and not sweat the small stuff.

Hope you get out soon....

jchocchip · 11/01/2012 10:41

Woot . Just been discharged from the oncologist. Sitting in the waiting room drinking the Brew a nice man made for me while I was waiting! Onc said the slight swelling is a side effect from rads and will reabsorb over next few months. Other than that really pleased with my skin and agreed that I could put my bc in the box marked 2011! Just be breast aware keep appointment with surgeon and yearly mamogram for 10 years! :) Yippee

smee · 11/01/2012 10:53

marmite, how did they do that then? Did they climb up while everyone was asleep? Shock You need to instruct friends and family on the medical necessity of fbs. Tis their duty. Grin You any news on Path/ home yet?

Ned, believe it or not, I still haven't told a fair few people about BC. Not at all sure how I managed that, but I reckon Jane's right. Wait until you know what's what and then it's easier to tell people the facts/ reassure and move on. I found e-mailing easier than telling people on the phone - people are so shocked and they're always several steps behind you in terms of facts, so it's quicker just to say : 'bad news/ I've got BC/ it means x,y,z, but then I'll be okay/ call me when you've got over the shock'. Seemed to work well. Smile

Hooray for Kurri being back. I reckon Sometimes is right about grief. No easy route and probably shouldn't be in many ways. Spring is coming though and memories will bring smiles as well as tears am sure. Have to ask, but what did you make of Edwin Drood? Haven't seen it yet, but am absurdly excited by the very idea of it.

MAS, trousers sound good - think I've seen those in Gap. Perfect choice. Hope your Dad's not stressing too much over what to say. I always admire people who speak at funerals. Very strong and lovely thing to do.

OneinEight, grim to be sick. Hope you're right and the drugs are having more effect today. Definitely talk to them for next time, as they'll try you on something else which might work better. How you feeling apart from that?

Jane, hope Onc appt. goes well today. Think I'm too late with question suggestions.

Topsy, grr for sore skin. Have you any knock-out pills that can make you sleep through? Only two left though I think? That's worth celebrating. Smile

Dig, have you left us?? So excited to hear you were clear. I do love it when someone is free from it all. Come and visit or stick with us if you want. Been lovely having you here. Smile

Happy Birthday to LaLaa. Smile 40 is so young. I am going to be 46 tomorrow.

Waving to all - hope I haven't missed too many, but this is already a v.long post. I gave up coffee yesterday, due to IBS type symptoms, and ended the day with the headache from hell, so am now sitting here with a huge latte.. Grin

smee · 11/01/2012 10:53

Ooh, hooray for you Jane. Brilliant news! Smile Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 11/01/2012 11:05

Woohoo for Jane. BC put back in its box. Excellent news!

Smee - very, very happy birthday for tomorrow. If it's any consolation I'll be 50 this year. How the hell did that happen? Shock

I did see Edwin Drood - not sure really, I think I enjoyed it but I haven't read that one and i got a bit confused. In my defence i was quite tired. I plan to watch tonight though, I lurve Dickens, even if i did give up on Martin Chuzzlewit a couple of weeks ago.

incidentally, smee that link you sent me about Twitter was most helpful. I think I am understanding a bit better now.

smee · 11/01/2012 11:09

Bows at Sometime's new techno-prowess. Grin

Martin Chuzzlewit's a bit slow I reckon, though it's years since I read that one. I intend to watch first ED tonight. Have it all planned, as no guests in house, DH away and DS will be hurled into bed and stapled there. Grin

marmitesandwiches · 11/01/2012 11:16

Jane - that's fantastic news. Well done! I hope 2012 is a fantastic year for you!

Grin @ smee with vat of latte. Lovely nurse has brought me an earl gray so will sit with you while you tell us your birthday plans ...?

Yes, would have been some clambering involved in getting lead. Metal thieving is a bit rife round here at the moment: Our nxt dr neighbour has had hers nicked 3 times! Now finally replaced by fibreglass. Our garage is more overlooked so they have't risked ours before - but was only a matter of time. topsy -maybe your dog would like to come + live with us for a bit. That would give them a fright!

No sign of consultant here yet. Think I'm here for a bit longer.

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/01/2012 11:19

I was listening to the Saturday play on R4 which is Martin Chuzzlewit in Mumbai or some such title- was very good..on next Sat. too I think...
Hooray for good onc. appointment jane - yay !!!
46 and 50 aren't old (compared to your ancient friend here) sometimes I think how can I be so old...
I have to say that whenever I post anything on facebook about my progress I am overwhelmed by loveliness and kind people being supportive and happy for me -it's lovely. Smee's email to friends is pretty much what I wrote - the facts, but not making it scary and then leaving it to them.
smee btw- have made an event on facebook and invited you to an outing to the RA to see the David Hockney exhib.

Sometimesiwonder · 11/01/2012 11:21

I used to love listening to the Saturday play on R4, that's made me come over all wistful.

Sometimesiwonder · 11/01/2012 11:25

I did see, MAS. Thanks! Am planning the next post now, I know what I want to say.

My Twitter name - well I'll PM you as it is my own name - but I haven't actually tweeted yet. It is all rather theoretical at the moment Blush But I am going to move on to that, and my next blog post, later this week, as i need to go in easy and reassuring stages Blush. Will let you know when I do both.....

smee · 11/01/2012 11:37

Ooh, when's the outing to the RA, MAS? Would love to go to see that. Smile

Sometimes where's your blog? Is it easy to find..?

Marmite, my birthday's officially moved to Friday night/ Saturday, as DH is away, though tomorrow DS and I are going to have a birthday tea of his design (I dread to think, but am sure it'll involve lots of FBS!). This year, we're just out to the pub with friends on Friday night. Last year I had a party with snacks designed by lovely women on here as it was breast themed (I sub-titled it a 'Wake for my Breast'). Was really to make my friends laugh and celebrate how fantastic they'd all been throughout my treatment. Was excellent fun. Grin

smee · 11/01/2012 11:38

x-posted with Sometimes. Can you pm me too? Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 11/01/2012 11:49

Done! Am happy to PM any of you on this: I just don't want to put it up on MN. But don't feel you have to read it, it is very personal and navel gazing....

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/01/2012 11:56

Poss. end of February, very beginning of March - would be lovely to meet you in RL !!

seeing marmite's name on here makes me crave a marmite sandwich -am off to make one with a bagel...I will add watercress for good measure and then have yogurt and I've spotted a half bar of Galaxy lurking in the cupboard.

jchocchip Hurry, that's great news Grin

The pre-op went ok, but the nurse, not realising the significance, told me all the blood tests from last week were perfect. Despite all the evidence pointing specifically to lymphoma, I still had a tiny hope something else would show up on the tests - to see if there was anything else it could be is what those tests were for.
