blimey- we're almost up to our limit...so brand new shiny, sparkling thread.

Yes that is an awful lot Cakes, - poor chap Sad, I hope you can get it sorted out.

Turns out the dog hadn't had quite enough breakfast, she threw her bowl across the kitchen to show me it was empty Grin

cakesandale · 07/12/2011 12:39

Ah well it is cold now, and her tummy is very near the ground, she'll need to eat a lot more

amberlight · 07/12/2011 13:05

Still ahead of me today: 2.20 appointment for rads. Then consultant this evening to talk about the herceptin dilemma.
DH is indeed recovering well, thanks, though v grumpy about having eyes that are at different levels of workingness at the moment until his other eye is done in early Jan. Still having to drive him hither and thither at the mo.
Brew is on for those in need.

SparkleRainbow · 07/12/2011 13:21

Wow thread 17, page 7 where have I been.

I am sorry to hear that your dh has got himself very stressed cakes. The blue boxed nytols are very good for helping you get back in a regular sleeping pattern, they knock out my dh very well, better than the prescription meds sometimes. I hope he is feeling better soon.

I am not caught up on what has been happening....so rather than even attempt to I shall muddle on from here.

SparkleRainbow · 07/12/2011 13:24

am glad to read your dh is on the mend amber. I did glean that it has all been a bit challenging over the last few days. I hope you are ok and not to drained yourself. I will make the Brew for you, put your feet up. I have no real FBS to offer, but personally I quite fancy a virtual mincepie.....anyone care to join me?
Xmas Biscuit - the closest I could find.

I have got two sets of mn secret santa pressies now....I contacted mn as I was sure it was a mistake, but I got a message back saying they were both for me.....am overwhelmed...thank you whoever nominated me. Xmas Blush

KurriKurri · 07/12/2011 13:28

That's lovely Sparkle - you deserve it Smile How are things with you at the moment?

SparkleRainbow · 07/12/2011 13:31

Ds is at school again, which is good. Cardiologist appt went quite well, they were pleased, and will come and see him at local hospital nect time rather than us having to get down to Birmingham Children's Hosp. Dh is muddling through really, trying to get more information about options at this point.

Mores the point, how are your Kurri? Have you started your isolation yet?

cakesandale · 07/12/2011 13:37

Thanks Sparkles, I'll go and get some in a sec!

Good to haer that ds's consult went well and they are flexible enough to come to you: hoping DH gets himself sorted soon, Seriously, he is most industrious on this front, it would be easy to let it get him down, so all power to him.

Well done on getting 2 Secret Santas! Well deserved, so save them for under the tree.

I believe KK's purdah starts tomorrow pm: I will be thinking of you then, KK.

Amber - having 2 vastly different eyes would take a bit of getting used to, I bet it's a bit headachey.

KurriKurri · 07/12/2011 13:39

Great that his appointment went well and that they will see him locally - that will save a bit of hassle I expect. Good luck to DH, I hope something turns up for him soon.

I am OK, - a bit tearful most days - it tends to suddenly hit me like a big wave, but its very early days.

Isolation starts tomorrow, - I'll be relieved to get it done, because my medication was reduced and now stopped (so it doesn't interfere with the treatment) so all the symptoms are returning which is a pain.

SparkleRainbow · 07/12/2011 13:42

Oh Kurri, I wish I could do something more useful than offer a virtual Brew. How quickly could you see relief from the symptoms when the treatment starts working?

jchocchip · 07/12/2011 13:44

Feeling really crap. Had to rush out to the post office as Mum found a card from Parcel Force who played knock and run away the other day. As they have closed the local post office they took it to the next one which is not on a direct bus route. Aargh. Did not have time for this today! Sitting waiting for another bus...

KurriKurri · 07/12/2011 13:57

I think it takes a month or so Sparkle - I see the consultant again in mid January, but I can go back on a half dose of the pills five days after treatment - so that should help.

Thanks for the virtual Brew - I'm just keeping busy, I know it takes time, so I have to just get through it. It is daft little things - we were sorting some of his clothes out (my mum wanted to give them to the day centre as the people sometimes need a change of clothing) but when it came to getting rid of his glasses, I just couldn't - so I've kept them, and it breaks my heart seeing them for some reason - I used to put them in his coat pocket for him, with a hanky when he was off to the day centre. Daft I know.

hope the bus comes soon jane - grr to parcel force, what a pain.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/12/2011 14:01

quickly dashing by -waves to everyone- cakes I could copy my useful mindfulness meditation cds if that's any help -there are some 15 minute ones which I use most days xxx

OP posts:
cakesandale · 07/12/2011 14:06

Could you copy me one? A short one would be great, he might do that! Very, very grateful.....

cakesandale · 07/12/2011 14:12

KK Sad about the glasses. It is the little things. When my Dad died it was his leather gloves - they were in his coat pocket and when we took them out, they were curved to the perfect shape of his hands. He had worn the same ones since I was very little and they were as soft as butter. Sad

It IS just a case of getting through it and there is no hurrying the process. Not without making yourself into a train wreck, anyway. x

smee · 07/12/2011 14:20

Sad Kurri. Cakes makes sense, there is no hurrying it all. Have you lots of books and dvds planned to pass the time while you irradiate Norfolk?

Jane, that knock and run game is a sod. I've just had a bout of it too. Hope bus arrived.

Waving to Sparkle. Only this morning, was wondering where you are. Smile

Wonder where Pink is? She's gone v.quiet...

Amber should be being zapped anytime now.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/12/2011 14:21

Sad about the glasses - and the image of cake's dad's butter soft gloves Sad I know it's not the same, but I always feel a sad pang when I discover our departed pets collars and tags.
cakes I will do that- can you send me your address again -will try to post on Friday.
kk you will be in touch still during your confinement ? hope so.

Hi all, just to say I have my appt, January
10, to have my lump checked out. Four week wait, which I intend to deal with by refusing to think about it! Smile

Thanks MAS. Will do.

Dig - sounds like a plan. I do think they'd fast track if seriously worried so take heart then forget about it for a bit

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/12/2011 14:33

Dig that's a good attitude- but if you do need any hand holds we're here
waves to cat !
jane do take care of yourself too,as the others have said- you are still recuperating.
Cakes am burning a few of the tracks on to a disc- the breathing meditation is very good,as well as the Body as a whole thing- I use both of these. John Kabat-Zinn is really v good- don't be put off by the American ness of it...

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 07/12/2011 15:07

Have left off the first meditation which is referred back to in the 2nd - the first involves eating a raisin with great concentration, but I didn't think Mr Cakes would want that one- the second breathing meditation is just asking you to bring the intense curiosity you experience in eating the raisin to your breathing (hope that makes some sense)

Summatontoast · 07/12/2011 15:54

Hi again, have just back to MN after week or so off, had surgery Friday. Am still having very groggy moments, dizzy & tired which I didnt expect so many days after, anyone remember feeling similar? Suppose GA can effect people so differently, inc after effects, my first time so nothing to compare to.
Have been doing my exercises, my problem has been standing up straight - sounds daft, but I seem to be automatically hunching over when I stand up, DH gently reminding me to throw my shoulders back. :) Follow up appointment next Thurs, trying very hard to put that to the back of my mind, not succeeding very well.
Horrible weather here, dark, rainy, windy day - about to decorate the Christmas tree to try and get in the festive spirit and get the house all cosy looking. Sorry, I am not up to date with thread, but sharing a Brew with you all and hoping you are having a good day, whatever you are up to, thinking of you.

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/12/2011 16:18

hi again summat -well done for getting through the surgery- I can't remember what after surgery felt like GA wise, though on day 2 I was exhausted because I tried to do too much which was foolish. Waiting again for results is always horrid so hope you can keep your mind occupied- will be thinking of you x

topsytinselturner · 07/12/2011 16:27

Summat I was only discharged from hospital by this point . Take it easy woman and don't expect to be charging about ! Be kind to yourself and do nice things to distract you between now and next week .

kk I think there is something in the air . Pig/dog was behaving irrationally today . He was pacing the house , but refusing to go out . He kept trying to climb onto my lap (which as he is 8 stone of German Shepherd , I didn't appreciate it !) .
Finally figured out that it was because the gate to the garden was open and it was banging and scaring him !
Big brave dog !
