Not yet MAS, - its being altered slightly, as it was too small. I had a description though, I think its a single stone in a fairly chunky ring (DILTB (DIL To BeGrin) likes chunky jewellery - she's a tall girl, and likes bold rather than dainty jewellery, and it suits her)

Sometimesiwonder · 30/12/2011 13:33

Congratulations KK (and ds and diltb, of course) how lovely.

I'm back, namechanged. If you know who I am don't out me: if you don't know, I'm the one who talks the most tripe on here. The change makes me feel better, and I am going to be a bit more circumspect with what I say. Couldn't stay away Grin

I'll catch up later, I promise, we have been away, and are going again. Happy New Year, all.

Welcome to the new faces, but a bit [sad[ that you have to be here. Chins up though, we will not be defeated!

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/12/2011 13:35

we missed you dear sometimes !

KurriKurri · 30/12/2011 13:46

Oh sometimes - it's lovely to see you (sweeps sometimes up in a massive hug) hope you had a lovely Christmas Smile

smee · 30/12/2011 14:13

Yeay for sometimes - lovely to have you back!!

Just quickly saying hi, as am back from my parents. Dad very much on the mend and being kept an eye on by some excellent medics, so I have breathed a huge sigh of relief over all of that. Need to swoop out to buy some 'proper food'. DS told me Quavers are lovely, but he needs some broccoli..! Blush Be back later to catch up if I can. Hope everyone's feeling okay. Xmas Smile

Sometimesiwonder · 30/12/2011 14:43

Aw, thanks, you guys. It's good to be back!

I am so glad your dad is being looked after properly, Smee. What a worry.

Broccoli? That's quite a kid you've got there! dd is going to be underwhelmed to find herself with sprouts for tea, especially as she will be expecting me to take her to our local leisure centre for unhealthy burger and chips, which we usually do on a Friday. Imagine her face when she finds out I have cooked

Talking of FBS, dd made me make some very, very posh chocolate cupcakes with her yesterday, from a recipe book she was given. She says 'baking makes me happy, Mum'. So if anyone fancies one, pull up a chair, they are absolutely more-ish....Cost a bomb to make, mind Hmm

topsytinselturner · 30/12/2011 14:59

Gives kk a round of applause , well said m'dear !

Sometimes ! Gives her a big smooch and some tuc biscuits . Welcome home Grin

Hiya smee , good to hear Dad is on the mend . Must be such a relief .
I went to the supermarket this morning as my DC have finally had enough of crisps and sweets for dinner too (weirdos)

DH has spent the day drilling holes and hanging pictures . Then he sanded down our kitchen (solid wood) worktips and re oiled them .
So despite my best plans of making a delicious beef stir fry for dinner , it may have to be a McDirty Burger as the kitchen is out of order !

KurriKurri · 30/12/2011 15:01

Ooh cupcakes ,, it's nice she likes baking, - my DD does too - finds it very relaxing.

I'm glad your Dad is on the mend Smee, it must have been quite a worry for you all. I know what your DS means about broccoli, despite all my talk of FBS, we've had so much rich stuff (Christmas then DD's birthday, lots of cake, crisps etc etc.) I've forgotten what real food tastes like.

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/12/2011 19:28

I am craving leaves and green stuff but also fbs- don't want to overdo it.
We found a stall selling hot soft pretzels, like in the US - salty ones-absolutely divine (expensive at £2.50 each) ds chomped most of it.
I hate cooking but really do like baking

Evening all. Sorry for lack of posting - finding it a struggle to get everything done, update family etc with DCs at home.

Sorry to see some newcomers here. Ned - I got my diagnosis just before Christmas - and the waiting is really, really hard so I can sympathise. Sounds like they aren't tremendously worried about it though, just thorough, so have my fingers crossed for you. Silver - hope you manage to get your problems checked out and that it also proves not too worrying. I'm quite new around here - but this thread has the most lovely positive and supportive vibe and the best Brew around so is a great place to hang out.

Well I saw the consultant on Wed - very lovely, professional and reassuring - and am now booked in for mastectomy, node clearance and reconstruction next Saturday (the alternative was waiting another week). They're estimating 3-5 days in hospital and then 2 weeks with drains in. Seems a strange thing to look forward to, but I think I am Xmas Hmm. In the meantime am finding being out in the fresh air very calming - though looks like I might get a bit wet over the next week or so!

smee · 30/12/2011 21:55

Am back from the pub and have failed to catch up, but just saw your post Marmite. Have been wondering how you are. I'm sorry you've got to face the next week or so, but you're right to look forward, as each step will take you closer to the end of it all and YOU WILL BE FINE. Stick with us and wobble and struggle with it all as much as you want to. It helps to scream somewhere and it's not easy to do it with loved ones. I am not known for my bravery, but if I can do it, well so can you. Let us help you through xx Xmas Smile

NedSchneebly · 30/12/2011 22:00

Lump aching tonight- keeps reminding me its there. . . Asked sil about lump, who is gp, and she said thought would be ok. V easy to say. . . Sad tho was genuinely starting to help.

Quite bored with in laws now. Nothing right for Mil. . .looking forward to my bed!

NedSchneebly · 30/12/2011 22:03

Should be genuinely trying to help. Phone is shocking!

NedSchneebly · 30/12/2011 22:08

Thanks Marmite definitely feeling for you. Think i would also be "looking forward" to getting stuff sorted. . . Definitely agree this is the best place to hang out!

KurriKurri · 30/12/2011 22:12

Hi Ned - I meant to reply to your post earlier, when you said so much has happened in such a short time.

It is a cliche, but it is a roller coaster physically and emotionally, and all that nervous anxiety and worry is very tiring. Its not surprising you are finding it hard to deal with guests (esp. inlaws!)

Marmite - I'm very pleased you've got your dates now, and that your consultant was reassuring. Fresh air is very calming - I went on a long walk every day while I was waiting for things to happen (I'm sure SandRipples swore by it's therapeutic properties too).

Waves to Smee, you are just in time to put your feet up and watch QI Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 30/12/2011 23:12

marmite we'll be with you next week !
Waving to smee
Crikey- I'm really quite looking forward to the end of all this festiveness - it's like being in a weird bubble.

Hi everyone - thanks so much for all your lovely replies. My gp was amazing and faxed over a referral yesterday and I got a call from the hospital today asking me to come in straight away. I saw the doctor who said he was not worried as it was fibrous tissue but said he would ask for a mammogram to check.. The radiographer did not seem worried either although I have to wait for results for a week or so via letter. I asked to look at the mammogram myself and have compared them with google images...

OneInEight · 31/12/2011 08:09

Silver - that is great news.

Marmite - good you have a date now and you have a good consultant. Enjoy your walks in the meantime - fresh air definitely relaxes you although I admit a bit of sunshine helps as well.

Wondering whether to opt for the sales or the cinema today. I know which one the boys will choose!

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/12/2011 09:01

excellent silver !!

jchocchip · 31/12/2011 09:45

Morning all. Marmite, it's good you have got your date and the are doing the skin saving you were talking about. (If I have understood correctly).

Solid shutters are wonderful, I've only just woken up!

butterfliesinmytummy · 31/12/2011 10:11

Ladies I just wanted to pop by and wish you all a fantastic 2012. I had a scare earlier this year (received the news by phone on holiday which is always lovely!) which very luckily turned out (following surgery) to be benign. You were a tower of strength, full of advice, tips and a huge amount of hand holding during appointments, tests and of course, the waiting in between (which was the worst part).

I will always be grateful to you and can't express my thanks enough. I think you are all fantastic women, unselfishly helping others when you are going through so much yourselves. I don't post here much now but often think of you and read your threads to see how you are all doing. I wish you all happiness, successful treatments, negative diagnoses and all clears for the rest of the year and far beyond. Thanks again x

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/12/2011 11:16

bless you butterflies and lots of good things for you in 2012 too x

Anyone going to parties tonight? - we're just having a quiet night in and a glass of wine at midnight (if I can stay awake).

MaryAnnSingleton · 31/12/2011 12:21
