I am in total agony

Yesterday I woke up with pain in my right arm at the top. Saw a pharmacist to ask about pain relief and she felt I had pulled a muscle. Went to bed last night with it covered in deep heat and still in pain and I couldn't lie on it. This morning it is fine but the whole of my left arm round to my breast and back is absolute agony and there is no way I can lift anything with it. Could it be my FM or something else? I am hoping to see an osteopath on Tuesday but I feel like crying it hurts so much. I have so much to do today, I can't be out of action.

I hope you manage to get some rest today.

Good luck with the house move. I am making lists at the moment as I have a memory like a sieve.

Yummy scrumy, a new baby to sniff.

We have a new baby due this month too.

hope you are feeling better soon

TheOriginalFAB · 15/11/2011 10:04

Fantastic. I have another cold and a cough that is heading for my chest already. Having an easy day I have decided and will have a nap later is I need one.

Hi fab

ds2 was up at 4am

sorry to hear you are coldy too...its rubbish.

Going to try and sniff the new baby today as I have a feeling if I leave it much longer I will be infectious too and there is no way I am going if I feel ill.

Got a GP appt later (made a few weeks ago to discuss blood results but really cant be bothered.....)

TheOriginalFAB · 15/11/2011 11:18

4am. Ouch Sad.

I am so jealous of my cat who has had 2 minutes stroking and is now asleep.

My boob hurts, I want to eat crap and I am shattered.

Good luck with getting your blood tests results.

Becaroooo · 15/11/2011 11:24

I am the same: eating crap...after I have a migraine (I get a-typical ones, natch!) I crave carbs and go mad.

I made dh laugh last night. I told him even my eyelashes hurt. I wasnt joking Sad

Hope you have a better day today x

TheOriginalFAB · 15/11/2011 14:07

Meanie DH Sad.

I have had a nap. Just having some lunch. Really want my bed. Have done very little today. DS1 is not going to be happy when he has to do the job he refused to do this morning when he gets in.

Hi Fab. Glad to read it was nothing serious. I probably overreacted the other night, but it is hard to diagnose over the internet :(

TheOriginalFAB · 15/11/2011 14:22

Much better to over state things than say you are sure all is fine and it not be. I appreciated your input.

I have chest tightness at the moment but I think I am just getting a cough and cold and am a bit stressed about picking up DS1 from school tbh.

FAB I really think all your symptoms sound like thyroid, I know your bloods are fine but they actually go for hee haw as far as lots of us are concerned with this disorder. I had mine removed and was supposedly fine, according to the blood tests, but had all the same symptoms/pains you describe in this and other threads. They then diagnosed me with fibromyalgia and gave me amatriptyline and tramadol. It made it worse.. Turns out I don't have fibro, I just am not being medicated correctly for hypothyroidism. Working on getting tha fixed.

Have a look on THYROID UK website.

TheOriginalFAB · 15/11/2011 17:40

I am convinced it is my thyroid too, my grandma had it, but the latest doctor to look at the results said they were fine and if anything I should be thin. I have a cough that hurts my chest when I cough and it feels like something it tight round my neck and chest atm. I just want to go to bed. And the kids are being vile.

Would anyone suggest I get this since I am getting no where with the GP. I have kept my results and they are only looking at one set, not the fact I had the tests done twice in 10 days and got different results.

justonemorethread · 15/11/2011 20:26

Sorry no idea
Bumping you along though
Maybe get a second opinion?

TheOriginalFAB · 16/11/2011 12:55

A couple of doctors have looked at the results and said they were normal but they are not taking into account the change from one week to the next.

OP posts:
perfumedlife · 16/11/2011 16:33

Despite them saying the bloods are fine, the parameters for 'normal' are so wide that they are a nonsense. Take a look at this article.

Becaroooo · 16/11/2011 16:50

watching this with interest as I am borderline hypothyroid and have been for years....

TheOriginalFAB · 16/11/2011 16:56

My results on one day were TSH 1.18 and T4 11.6. When I had them redone about 10 days later they were TSH 0.74, T3 4.7 and T4 12.7.

I have seen a doctor. I have things in hand.

I have googled HA and I was right all along. I don't have it.

Do you think perhaps you are not the best person to decide your diagnosis? It is hard to see clearly when you are experiencing anxiety of any sort.

I have to say, having googled it myself, this paragraph leapt out at me...

Some individuals who experience this type of anxiety disorder are so convinced that they have a certain physical illness, that all of their focus will be placed on obtaining a diagnosis. They will go to as many doctors as they can and if they do not receive confirmation of a diagnosis, they may continue to seek second, third and fourth opinions from other doctors. In such instances, many different tests (such as MRI, echocardiograms and in some cases even exploratory surgery) are requested by the person experiencing the health anxiety or illness phobia. Unfortunately, these tests are often not enough to convince them that they are not physically ill and can therefore be taken time and time again. Often, a lack of diagnosis is attributed to poor medical care or an under qualified doctor. It is important to remember that repeated visits and consultations with health care professionals are due to the fact the sufferer fully believes that they are experiencing a physical illness, rather than due to attention seeking behaviours. The medical profession often refer to the symptoms experienced by sufferers of health anxiety as ?medically unexplained symptoms?.

From your many threads on here FAB, you do this, with both yourself and your children. Lots of threads on here, trips to GP's, OOH's, A&E. Then you get a 'diagnosis', (which you tend never to specify on here, despite the amount of postings you make beforehand), by someone you pay for an opinion (ie an osteopath), or it just goes quiet, suggesting nothing much was wrong in the first place.

People here are not criticising you by saying seek help for HA btw, they actually want to help you. People who post here offering support for your 'symptoms' are actually making it harder for you to get well again...

thestringcheesemassacre · 16/11/2011 20:56

I googled too and I think that health anxiety is absolutely what you have.

V good post from the RisingRoad.

TheOriginalFAB · 16/11/2011 21:01

I am sure you think you are right and I have issues but I don't have issues about my children's health. Two of them have had real problems with treatments. Thankfully they are both doing really well now and should continue to progress and grow stronger.

I have emotional difficulties which are getting better all the time and I know my current pain issues are due to an accident I had.

It might appear to go quiet to you but more likely is the fact that I chose not to post exactly what is wrong so as to not identify myself.

I am not seeking help for HA as I don't have it. I don't think I am ill or have a problem. I know what my illness is and I have treatment for it, I also know why I am in pain at the moment and have sorted that out too.

I don't think for a minute that anyone will accept what I have said. I am clearly in denial in your opinion. People have made a decision about me, and have posted very clearly what they think of me, but I know me and I know my children and I know what is actually going on.

Sparklingbrook · 16/11/2011 21:05

FAB I don't know what you have or haven't got. You can only do what feels right for you.

TheOriginalFAB · 16/11/2011 21:11

Thanks SB.

I am sure by now my GP would have told me if he thought I had HA. I am certain he knows better than people who have only read posts on here.
