duh, meant to say,ds has been making films for that Britain in a Day project -this has involved him filming me meditating, his dad cooking, his grandpa giving the cat his insulin and himself doing his singing practice. I have seen the singing clip and it's the first time I've heard him sing properly for ages !

Morning - yaaaaaawn .

Had a relatively good nights sleep last night . No day time nap , stayed up till about 11pm , slept throught to 7am , went back to sleep till 9am .
Pretty darn good I think !

MAS your DS film project reminds me of a friend . She had a son who turned the web cam on the computer (kept in the living room) on to filming 24 hours a day .
It was over a month till she found out everything she did in her living room was broadcast live on the web for the whole world to see Grin

Off to Grannys soon .
DH took the DC swimming this morning , that's probably why I managed to sleep till 9am as they weren't here making their usual racket .

On a Cancer related note , think I am going to ask my Consultant when I see her on the 28th , if my long term prognosis has changed any since she told me about the lung mets .
She told me then (about 4/5 months ago) I had a life expectancy of 2/3 years .
Think I need to know , given the recent good news of how the lung mets are being dealt with , whether this changes the time scale .
I am shitting myself even thinking about asking the question , but I think I need to know .

KurriKurri · 13/11/2011 11:22

Morning all. Hope everyone has a good day today, DS's film sounds fun MAS, he's very into camera stuff isn't he? - artistic boy like his mum Smile

topsy - that is a bloody hard question for anyone to have to ask Sad Lots of luck and lots of love. xxxx

Ilovegeorgeclooney · 13/11/2011 12:27

Topsy what a difficult question to ask, I really admire your courage but hopefully it will be a positive response.

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/11/2011 13:47

really hard question topsy - on Woman's Hour this week -can't remember which day, a consultant and woman with secondary cancer were talking about statistics, prognosis and being given results- it might be worth a listen to on listen again as it was very interesting and might be helpful, will see if I can link...

OP posts:

here topsy

DeeScent · 13/11/2011 17:11

Oh, Topsy, ((really big HUG)). I do hope they can give you some better news, but, you know, do bear in mind that the docs can only do their best to estimate and sometimes patients carry on doing remarkably well, beyond expectations.

So whatever they tell you, try not to lose heart (easier said, than done? sorry, just trying to be encouraging.) Where there's life, there's hope, and all that...more ((HUGS)) and lots of love and strength to you and your loved ones.

DeeScent · 13/11/2011 17:13

at that web-cam being on 24/7 for a month!! Shock That would utterly do my head in if that happened to me (although I don't exactly do anything risque in my living room...I think... < racks brain > )

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/11/2011 17:47

Ds is always filming and we do get cross because I never want to be in them, caught off guard !

OP posts:
Figgyroll · 13/11/2011 18:13

I'm glad we never had a video recorder but, with the advent of phones that can film, I have to be on guard. Cringing here at being on a web-cam for a month.

Topsy, I think you're very brave to ask the consultant but I can understand your need to know. Hopefully it will be better news and you will be glad you asked. Have an 'ug ((((((()))))))).

Have just found a box of Roses lurking in the cupboard. I think I bought them for Christmas but, never mind, have opened them and a bottle of Wine. Let me know which ones are your favourites and I'll chuck them your way Grin

smee · 13/11/2011 18:21

Heck Topsy. I think that's the first time you've told us your odds. I'd guessed, but still am glad you've told us, as if you can't talk about it all here, then where can you. I'd say you need to know what's ahead and logically, it can't be worse than what she told you last time. Hugs from me. Keep talking it through with us if it helps.

Sunny Autumn day here with boys on bikes in park and a meze lunch with friends, so all good. Hope you all are too. Smile

KurriKurri · 13/11/2011 18:21

Purple one please Figgy Grin I have bought a couple of bits for Christmas (foodstuffs) and put them away in a box, but I keep eyeing them up!

I had an e-mail last night telling my bookclub is on Wednesday, - I thought it was the following week, and I haven't read the book yet.

Too nice a day to stay inside and read here though, so I did some gardening instead.

topsyturner · 13/11/2011 18:46

Thanks All , will take a listen to that link tomorrow when all have left the house mas .
Not feeling sorry for myself , just sussing out what lies ahead .

I like the orange and strawberry creams please . has not already eaten a whole tin herself

topsyturner · 13/11/2011 20:47

Am watching X Factor .
GaGa is a total loon isn't she ? Grin

smee · 13/11/2011 21:09

I quite like her. Bonkers but good. Grin

topsyturner · 13/11/2011 21:28

Oh yes Smee . I love a good Loon Grin

Got BT coming tomorrow to fit my new super duper speedy broadband .
Apparently it will be 15 times faster than what I have at the moment .
My main worry is I need to pull out my computer cupboard and clean the crap out from behind it !
Had a brief peak earlier and think someone has shoved a spare pig/dog behind it ...

jchocchip · 13/11/2011 21:48

Hugs Topsy. I can understand your need to know.

Aargh at the web cam!

kk you had better weather than us, really grey again here.

Try not to get cross with the filming, mas - good her is doing something constructive!

Been a busy day here with church and cooking dinner, excavating chocolate out of the fountain and visiting Auntie. It is good to see her feeding herself now. She still has a long way to go. Now all her children have gone home I will try and look in on her every few days.

just looked at grimefighters - although my kitchen is in need of a deep clean, it's not that bad! Puts it in perspective I suppose.

Just put Cats on the dvd, nearly time for bed I think... Are there any chocs left, Figgy?

jchocchip · 13/11/2011 21:51

he

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/11/2011 22:41

I love all Roses !
Dad to hospital tomorrow for his eye - not sure how long it'll take but I can mooch about or just people watch. He has to go again this week to have a cancerous thing on his face removed (he just idly mentioned it the other week -so casually that I actually forgot about it- will quiz him tomorrow)

OP posts:
topsyturner · 14/11/2011 08:18

Damn it !
Wrote a post , pressed send , and the bugger disapeared into the ether !
Try again topsy

Morning Everyone .

Good luck to your Dad for today mas . Hope the face growth isn't too serious . He has a lot on his plate at the minute doesn't he ?

I have just pulled out my computer desk and hoovered behind it .
Oh the shame .
Was scarey stuff back there Grin

Am I a bad person if I have a huge slice of cherry madeira cake for breakfast ?

Any appointments today ?
Good luck for those that do .
Let me know if I can light the candle for you .

jchocchip · 14/11/2011 08:41

Well done Topsy tackling scarey stuff behind the desk at this time in the morning should be rewarded with cherry madiera cake :)

jchocchip · 14/11/2011 08:44

Cat brought a frog in already this morning. I heard the frog squeeking (never knew they were so loud) and called dh to rescue it without going to look cos I would only have screamed...

topsyturner · 14/11/2011 08:51

Just listened to that womans hour thing mas .
Very interesting . Never thought about it from the Doctors side of things .
I was very blunt when I got my secondary diagnosis and asked straight out "how long have I got" . So my Consultant was very blunt right back at me .

I would prefer a bit of bluntness to a lot of fannying around and being spoken to in euphemisms .
They talked about destroying a patients hope if you give them the news too bluntly . But I think in my case it made me want to fight more (after the initial shock ofcourse) .

Anyway , thanks for the link mas .

topsyturner · 14/11/2011 08:53

Your cat is very generous with her gift giving isn't she jane ?
Have a slice of cherry madeira to help you through the trials of cat ownership .

jchocchip · 14/11/2011 09:04

Thanks Topsy - mmmmm. must be healthy cake, its got fruit in :)
