Thanks amberlight - I understand your situation a bit more now, I think, I hope.

smee · 28/11/2011 22:49

Amber, you've been so incredible throughout and rads are a bit of an improbable limp past the post if you've gone through chemo first, so tough even without your hypersensitivity and you've got that on your plate too. Sad But I reckon you can do this. Talk to them definitely. I'd bet there are things they can do to help. Talk to us too. Let us distract you and cheer you on the last leg of all this cancer nonsense. Wish I could do something to help.

Good-morning everyone - always feel like I'm back in a school assembly when I write that.

Amber - I hope a nights sleep has made you feel happier about the rads. I'm sure your three hour trial made things worse so hopefully it will not be so made. Also talk to them about the hypersensitiviey as I'm sure you wont be the first and definitely won't be the last to have similar problems.

Cat64 - will be thinking of you today.

Had my pre-ops yesterday and everything fine till I got back home and made myself a cup of coffee which was rapidly spat across the floor. d.h. had kindly decided to descale the kettle! Still have foul taste in my mouth - sometimes you wish they wouldn't be helpful!

Have both d.s. at home tomorrow because of the teachers strike so today is last day at work today before o.p. Think my boss is expecting me back at work on Monday - you can tell she's a medic can't you - has been told firmly that I am unlikely to be back in before January - the university is closed for ten days over Christmas anyway. Actually I shouldn't malign her as she has been very sympathetic.

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/11/2011 07:32

cat Grin @ back at work on Monday ! I think you should be cosied up with plenty of fbs !
Ick about descaled coffee Smile
Hope you are sped through rads today amber

amberlight · 29/11/2011 08:03

cat64, hope the funeral is as ok as possible today.

Thanks, all. Shall indeed have to talk to them about all of this. I have the name of the rads manager and we'll sit down and go through it all again. They did know this stuff, but I don't think they've translated that into action

jchocchip · 29/11/2011 08:11

Uurgh descaler coffee! not helpful.

Cat I always cry loads at funerals. I now know to take far more hankies than I think I could possibly need...

Hope you have a better day today Amber.

Really windy here. Council workmen spent yesterday blowing leaves into a heap but didn't move them...

I'm going to try and get a doctors appointment to sign me fit for work. Out tonight with work , too. So much to do in the house as well, seems a shame to rush back to work before I've got ready for Christmas! Need to go back though and join my new team.

topsytinselturner · 29/11/2011 08:12

Ha ! Back in work on Monday Grin
Over here you wouldn't even be out of hospital ! They keep you in for 5 days minimum !

Amber hope today goes better for you . When does hubby have his first op ?

DS has headed off to school very excited this morning . He has to go and perform a video he and 3 of his friends made . In their lunch time drama club they were tasked with making a video that would encourage nursery children to wash their hands . And his group won best video !
So they are being whisked off to an exhibition center to give a personal performance of it .

Both the DC schools are closed tomorrow . And our bus companies are on strike too . I think it will be a day spent a home in pjs . Weather report is pretty bad , so perfect excuse Grin

Large mug of non descaler poisoned coffee anyone ?

topsytinselturner · 29/11/2011 08:15

Cat hope today goes as well as possible for you , sympathies for the loss of your friend .

Jane don't rush yourself back to work . Have you thought of trying a staggered return ? Your GP can authorise this , going back part time at first and steadilly building up how long you go in for ?

jchocchip · 29/11/2011 08:41

Topsy yay for ds performing his video :)

Phased return is what I want the doc to sign me for. Failed to get an appointment though, receptionist told me it was my fault as didn't ring at 8! I waited until 8.30 on the dot as that has always been the time to ring. The cheek! Have to try again tomorrow...

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/11/2011 09:31

good luck with getting appointment jane
Well done junior topsy !!
and yes, hope the funeral is bearable cat
Am drawing today, then picking up my girl from dance club and taking the long windy walk back to her house. Her mum has been driving me home afterwards which I feel horribly guilty about as I feel it's a nuisance for her and really I should walk it.

OP posts:
jchocchip · 29/11/2011 11:44

Don't feel guilty Mas! You have already walked to dance club and back to her house! How long does it take for her to drive you home and how long would be the walk? You both get time for a little chat and debrief which is probably a good thing. Maybe walk when the weather is good?

Going to wizz for a swim and then get ready for my evening out. Hope I've got the stamina!

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/11/2011 12:18

aw thanks jane...the walk is about half an hour- and yes,we do get to catch up on the way home. Smile
Have a good swim and fab evening out !

Hi everybody! Appt tomorrow to see consultant tomorrow with results of biopsy - needless to say am feeling very anxious. Have been keeping myself busy by organising school christmas fair at the weekend which was great success.

Driftwood999 · 29/11/2011 12:37

seventimesseven - I'll be thinking of you tomorrow with fingers crossed, waiting is horrible, will you have someone with you? It's really good that you have been busy, great that your school had a good Christmas Fair. My dh and I used to do the mulled wine, which was very popular, of course it was free, but we charged for the recipe which the customer had to buy first Grin Made a mint.

cakesandale · 29/11/2011 12:46

Gosh that's a good idea Drift!

Seventimesseven and everyone else with appointments this week, I am just keeping the candles lit. Looks quite festive.

Amber, I hope today's rads are better. They really do make you feel down, even without your additional issues: talk to the radiographers, they are well used to people weeping all over them.

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/11/2011 12:47

seventimesseven lots of luck tomorrow -will be thinking of you x

OP posts:
smee · 29/11/2011 13:10

Ooh lovely idea on mulled wine, Drift. Grin

Seventimes, will be thinking of you tomorrow. Whatever they say, it somehow feels better once you know, iyswim. Confused x

Amber, hope today's a bit quicker at least and that you manage to corner the Rads woman.

Bit rushed today, but waving to all through the wind. Smile

Driftwood999 · 29/11/2011 13:22

Twas a C of E School. Lovely Rector. We used the hot water urn, borrowed from the church to make it in Smile Gave it a thorough clean afterwards, obviously! Worked a treat.

seventimesseven · 29/11/2011 13:43

oooh driftwood, I love the mulled wine idea. Our parents do like a drink Grin

DH is coming with me tomorrow, and a friend is looking after DS. Of all the things that are worrying me, the prospect of having to tell relatives is the one that's bothering me most. There's been a lot to deal with over the last year, and they don't need any more to fret about!

amberlight · 29/11/2011 13:52

Back. 1 hr of lying totally still whilst they ummed and aahed over me. Could they get me to line up? Heck no! Took the team of medical physicists in there as well before they knew what was what. The knack...for me to relax! Then I lined up with the lasers! So I just need to be drunk each time, it seems :-D Only joking...
Blimey, so many people get a look at our norks, don't they!!
Didn't speak to main lady. Brain incapable of doing so. Will try tomorrow.

Seventimes, good luck for tomorrow!!

topsytinselturner · 29/11/2011 14:02

7x7 candle lit for you for tomorrow , let us know how you get on .

cakesandale · 29/11/2011 14:16

Amber, what a pain Sad

Half of Coventry has seen my norks, I think. I didn't have much shame before, and now I have none at all Grin

At the time, though, you do feel vulnerable and teary. It feels like a demeaning experience, however hard they try to make it otherwise. Keep focused on the end date, my love, it's really not long now.

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/11/2011 14:29

well done amber - tomorrow will be better. I am rubbish at exposing my body,no matter how many times they've looked and prodded - and being embarrassed at my ages is in itself embarrassing.
