OP posts:
jchocchip · 24/11/2011 23:32

Two halves of beer with my best friend. and cashews and chilli peanuts. And her husband brought along a bar of fruit and nut :) Wahay! Not exactly a wild night out, but a sanity break...

jchocchip · 25/11/2011 07:56

last post yesterday and first post today! Morning all!

jchocchip · 25/11/2011 08:08

Smee, I can't understand why someone would be jealous of reconstructive implants. Guess she must have a poor body image. There never used to be so much boob anxiety in young girls, in my day you just had what you were given with a sock in the bra if necessary and cosmetic surgery much rarer. I can understand someone with very big boobs having them reduced if they are causing pain, but why would teenagers have implants? I never had much in the boob department until I had the dcs and then put on weight...

Morning

DS has a cold , nothing serious , just a cold .
He has spent the last 12 hours trying to persuade me that he should have the day off school . Bad mother that I am , I made him go to school .

I have a chocolate orange sponge pudding in the fridge . It is calling me loudly .
Would it be wrong to have it for breakfast ?
It is Friday and there is orange flavoured chocolate in it ???

amberlight · 25/11/2011 09:09

Chocolate is very good for the heart, and oranges are filled with vitamin C, therefore it is a perfectly good choice for breakfast Grin

pinkstarlight · 25/11/2011 09:32

morning all

has anyone heard from sparkle

topsy...sounds better than my breckie this morning no bread,no milk so about 4 forkfuls of left over chinese noodles not sure it goes with my cherry and cinnamon tea.

was pure chasos in my house this morning with the kids and their wheres this and wheres that making my head spin.think its a sure sign every things getting back to normal and their back to wanting to rely on mum.

cakesandale · 25/11/2011 09:34

Chocolate is good for the heart????? Who knew?

Back later

smee · 25/11/2011 09:47

I think that pudding's calling me too, Topsy. Definitely one of your five a day. Top motherly skills getting the boy to school, though do I detect a smidgeon of guilt?! Grin

Jane, your evening in the pub sounds perfect. Definitely keeps you sane. Smile Follow up story to that woman who was envious over my implants, is she's a mum at DS's school and last time she told me how lucky I am, another mum chipped in saying, 'well it's still a bit of a bugger about the cancer.' Shut her right up. Grin Actually I hate my implants, but still needs must and at least I get a lot of amusement from them.

pink, MAS sent Sparkle a message yesterday as we were starting to worry. Don't think she's heard from her yet though. Sad

Damp but nicely sunny here. Better get on with some work. Hope everyone's well today. Still thinking about Kurri in deepest Dorset with her mum. Sad

jchocchip · 25/11/2011 09:51

Porridge for breakfast - meant to fill me up so I don't pick all morning. That baking from yesterday is calling to me... :)

Anyone want a slice of cake to go with their Brew?

jchocchip · 25/11/2011 09:57

xpost Smee That 'well it's still a bit of a bugger about the cancer' was just the right thing for the other mum to say :) Made me smile reading it.

And I need all the sanity I can get, especially with going back to work soon...

Summatontoast · 25/11/2011 12:30

Hello everyone, I am due to have surgery either first or second week in December. I am wondering if anyone could give me advice about post surgery bras for bigger cups? If you have any mastectomy bras you swear by I would be grateful for those too. Thanks for any help you can offer.

cakesandale · 25/11/2011 12:45

I am glad you have a date, Summat. It is easier when you have started on the path.

Little advice to offer as I had a lumpectomy, but I am sure someone better placed will be along soon. I believe the support and advice from the BCNs is quite good for post mastectomy. KK had a lot of good advice to offer on this I seem to remember, but she is away for a bit. It might be worth asking again when she returns, if you haven't had enough help by then. x

smee · 25/11/2011 12:49

Hi Summat, I've had mastectomies, but had immediate reconstruction (implants), so I'm not much use either. M&S do a range of mastectomy bras, but your BCN is a v.good idea as they should be able to tell you where locally is a good place to shop. How are you anyway? Hope you're feeling not too bad. Smile

amberlight · 25/11/2011 13:51

I'm no help re mastectomies either alas - mine was a lumpectomy.

I'm up for a bit of cake, yes please!

Here, another nosebleed so taking it easy. Grr.

MaryAnnSingleton · 25/11/2011 13:54

hello summat - no mastectomy experience here either, but bcns should be very good at advising - how are you feeling about your surgery ?

Message from sparkle - they've been having a bad time but things seem to be settling and she'll be back soon - told her we missed her.
Have had hair cut- hope it looks ok.

OP posts:
cakesandale · 25/11/2011 14:14

Sad Thinking of Sparkles

I am sure the hair cut is fab, MAS

topsyturner · 25/11/2011 14:18

Hi summat

I had a mastectomy and I also am a G cup . M&S weren't much use as far as post surgical bras went . They did however manage to fit me with a few sports bras that fit properly .

Don't just buy them off the shelf , make sure you have them fitted . All of the ladies at the lingerie changing rooms in M&S are trained to fit post surgical bras . And they understand about making sure the bras don't rub along the scar lines .

Although my cup size is huge , my back size isn't . So any bra they put on me would have rubbed my scars . I had a node clearance too , so my scar goes almost round to my back .

Other ladies have said John Lewis is very good too , but I don't have one over here .

cat we like posts about shopping ! well done- sounds very festive !
What's the post surgery bra place that sounds like Amoeba ? not sure if they are in shops or online. Bet the bcns know of places local to you that will fit bras.

Aww thanks, Drift, but not a teacher. I'm a TA in a class of Year 1 children. Have worked at the school for 15 years now and still love it.

Hi Summat, I recently got myself measured up for a mx bra at M&S Lakeside - a lot of the smaller branches don't stock them. I'm a 40DD so a tad large of bosum. The assistant bought me about a dozen different ones and they all fitted differently despite being the same size and I plumped for this one in the end.

So I'd be wary of ordering over the internet unless you've got time to send stuff back.

Nicola Jane have a shop near Barbican in London and they will measure you and fit you with a bra. I am thinking about going up there and getting a couple from them, then I'll be sorted for the next few years. Grin

OneInEight · 25/11/2011 16:57

Hi summat, Like you I am due surgery begining of December. I have just got a bra from Nicola Jane. It arrived less than 24 hours after ordering so can't fault them on delivery. Time will tell whether it is suitable or not.

jchocchip · 25/11/2011 17:25

Hi Summat and 1in8. +ve vibes sent in your direction for your ops.

I can't help on the bras debate as I had lumpectomy. Can't wear a bra at the moment but I'm very pleased with the post rads dressings combined with primark hidden support vest tops.

Fed up with itching today.

jchocchip · 25/11/2011 17:27

Anyone else had hail today? Binking freezing here!

Summatontoast · 25/11/2011 19:09

Thank you everyone, going to go and have a fitting, probably M&S, am seeing BC nurse again soon too. I am beyond scared about the op, have been suffering with anxiety/stress over the last few months in any case, so not good. topsy & figgy It is good to hear you managed with bigger cup size, the little bit of searching I did online all seemed to stop at E cups which worried me. The one in the link looks spot on, will check that out. 1in8 do you have a date yet? I see the surgeon on Monday to get a date in the diary. Previously he mentioned a sort of reduction type surgery, but for me, a shorter op and hospital stay are paramount. Thanks again ladies, really appreciate your help, you are all in my thoughts.

Summatontoast · 25/11/2011 19:12

yes, hail storm here earlier jc and have been nithered all day!
