Pinkstarlight - glad to hear your good news, Grin at the false alarm/ribcage!

Driftwood999 · 24/11/2011 14:48

Thanks for that Pink.

cakesandale · 24/11/2011 14:53

Glad it's nothing sinister, Pink Grin

Good thought, Drift.

DeeScent · 24/11/2011 14:57

Welcome to the thread Seven Smile

Drift, I had Amitryptiline for nerve pain, tho mine doesn't sound as bad as yours. I think it worked but then it's hard to know how the natural healing would have progressed anyway. I'm off it now and just have the occasional fleeting moderate stabbing pain that really is hardly anything. Hope it works for you.

Glad your seroma is behaving itself.

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2011 15:25

that all sounds very good and reassuring drift -a handsome onc is a bonus- mine was a nice lady Grin
Hooray for pink's good news and Grin at ribcage !!
Have sent sparkles a pm on facebook..
Good to point the prescription thing out drift

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2011 15:27

oh and smee -the funny tummy pains have turned out to be a period -last one was 2 months ago !!

OP posts:
Figgyroll · 24/11/2011 15:38

Afternoon ladies and 'welcome' to 7x7. I know how hard the waiting is - we all do, but you can spend some time in here having Brew Wine and cake. I've plumped up the cushions and flicked a duster round (slovenly lot they are Grin).

Glad the tummy pains were explained, MAS. At least you know now.

Drift, I got a prescription form quite early on after dx and, when I got my card, the lady in the chemist exclaimed " ooh, lucky you, you wont have to pay for your prescriptions now and........ooh look, it's for five years - think of the money you'll save". Silly woman. I wanted to scream at her that I had cancer and would much rather not have it and go back to paying but what use would that have been? Mind you, you're right - it does save a bit now they're over £7 a go.

I'm still cuddled up on the sofa drinking [tea]. My voice is returning gradually and I've been in to work but not spoken very much at all which is difficult when you're working with groups of children but I've managed. Only one more morning to go then it's the weekend.

jchocchip · 24/11/2011 15:39

Drift, I got my medical exemption certificate - didn't want to pay for a monthly prescription for the next 5 years. It will also save money at the dentist and getting an eye test.

jchocchip · 24/11/2011 15:45

Hi Figgy xpost. Silly woman in chemist Shock

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2011 15:50

topsy don't think me mad,but I pm'ed you on fb instead of sparkle- gah !

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2011 15:51

waves to figgy - grrr @foolish chemist woman...
eye tests and dentist cheaper too ? didn't think it covered that

OP posts:
Driftwood999 · 24/11/2011 16:08

Figgy - yes, that was a thoughtless/judgemental comment by the lady in chemist, hope she knows better now.
jchocchip - agog, does the card cover the dentist/eye checks too?

Driftwood999 · 24/11/2011 16:17

Figgy, may I just "take my hat off to you"/give you a medal, working (gather you are a teacher) with children all day whilst having a cold. Do you have the flu jab btw? Hope you are still on that sofa, or better still asleep! Hope you feel even better tomorrow.

topsyturner · 24/11/2011 16:23

mas was just coming on to tell you , you had pmd me instead of pink Grin

Can I make you all jealous by telling you everyone in Northern Ireland gets free prescriptions !

Welcome 7x7 , sorry you have to join us . I agree with everyone else that the waiting is a complete bugger . Any questions you want to ask , please do . Doesn't matter how bizarre you may think it is I assure you , one of us has been there !

Headache seems to have gone , thank goodness . Thought it had lifted last night , but then got woken in the wee hours with it back again .

The DC and I are now all drinking hot chocolate . Tis a wild and blowy afternoon over here .

Is everyone ok today ?
Special hugs to kk . I know you are not around right now , but I am still thinking of you .

jchocchip · 24/11/2011 16:26

:( No doesn't cover eyes and teeth. I just thought it did as the card looks the same as the tax credit one which does. Sorry for spreading misinformation.

jchocchip · 24/11/2011 16:28

Wild and blowy here too, Topsy.

ManCrushedToDeathByALift · 24/11/2011 16:35

Scuse me ladies, sorry to gatecrash, just my aunt has been on Tamoxifen for 2 years following a mastectomy for breast cancer, and is really struggling to lose weight. Could it be related to the Tamoxifen? or more likely she just eats too much Grin

Thanks!

MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2011 17:12

arf ! mancrushed - how old is your aunt ? was she plump before breast cancer/tamoxifen ? Am not convinced that tamoxifen causes weight gain on it's own - have been on it for 2 years but no real gain -probably a bit chubbier than before but think that is just getting older/shape changing etc. I remember my bcn saying that I shouldn't worry about weight gain as I'm not overweight to start with but that might have been encouraging tactics for me to take it.

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 24/11/2011 17:15

oh topsy -I am losing my mind.

OP posts:
ManCrushedToDeathByALift · 24/11/2011 19:01

Thanks maryann, she is 55 (ish). She's always been a bit overweight, so it's not that she's gained weight, just struggling to lose it. She's only managed 4lb in 8 weeks despite following Slimming World religiously.

Driftwood999 · 24/11/2011 19:15

MCTDBAL - Re: your auntie, at 55 that amount of weight loss on a diet sounds about right to me, it's positive, going in the right direction for her.

ManCrushedToDeathByALift · 24/11/2011 19:19

Well exactly, plus the slower you lose it the more likely you are to keep it off, right? I think she's frustrated because I'm doing the same diet and have lost over 1.5st in the same time. However I am a massive lardarse slightly larger than her Grin

smee · 24/11/2011 20:43

Ah now look I only nipped out to take DS swimming ..

Can't post to all, but Drift, a dishy Onc sounds like a rare perk. Your results sound good. Clear margin is still clear, even if it is teeny and Rads are definitely effective. My lot told me they were my best guard against recurrence. Was a bit miffed, as they'd just put me through 6 rounds of chemo. Hmm

Yeay for Pink's news and for a lumpy rib-cage!! Bet that was a relief. Grin

MAS, mine feels period-like too, but I haven't had one for 18 months. Would be ever so annoying now if they started again.

Figgy at the woman in the chemists. I've had a couple of reactions like that. One woman in particular insists I'm lucky to have implants on the NHS and apparently she's jealous. Hmm Are you sure you should be at work?? now her headache's, maybe we should send Topsy over with the duct tape.. Grin

MCTDBAL, congrats on the weight loss. Hugely impressive. Smile

jchocchip · 24/11/2011 22:40

Hello everyone. Just back from the pub (hic) - well it is Thursday :) Convinced I've put loads of weight on during rads but I'm sure that is because I've had to cut the swimming and I'm yet to cross the door of the gym... Maybe next week. Must restart my food diary too. Particularly windy here, the roses are bashing against the windows... Nighty night.

topsyturner · 24/11/2011 22:43

Grin jane
Had a good night have we ?
