Thanks for all the itchy hints . I think I will give my GP a ring tomorrow and see what they think .

We have owls here too mas . DH got swooped at head level the other evening when he was taking the pig/dog out for a walk .
They are massive buggers aren't they ?

Kievs made , just need popping into the oven . Making veggy rice to go with them .

Still haven't had any appointments in the post for my rads . I was originally told they would be starting next Monday , so I hope I get a letter soon . Need to arrange things !

Oh crud , its Ross Kemp again on sky tonight . DH loves it . I just laugh at Ross legging it when it all gets a bit hairy .
Ah well , maybe it will be an early to bed with a book night for me ?

smee · 21/11/2011 17:47

I'll have a lime sweetie And pass over a cake, Dee, for I am excellent at testing. Smile Am feeling virtuous, after a cycle and a swim. My first apart from splashing with DS, after op. Just did 10 lengths, but the stretching felt a bit other. Feel a bit like a creaking Frankenstein's monster. And implants don't make you float

Topsy, hope your lot appreciate you. I have never heard of someone making a Kiev. Don't eat meat, so am clueless, but surely they come in boxes from the freezer?!

Kurri, does sound like the right decision, though you're more than allowed to have a wobble tomorrow. Squirrel away some fat boy snacks and lovely books/ DVD's to distract you.

Cakes, am vying for title of most easily distracted. Reckon I'll easily win. A gnat sounds quite cerebral next to me. Blush

MAS, I'd adore an owl in our garden. We had two when I was a child and hearing them call makes me feel about 6 again. Lovely birds. Hope it stays.

Pink, hope you're in PJ's soon. I need some new ones, but have yet to find perfection. Suggestions welcomed. Smile

jchocchip · 21/11/2011 18:08

It was Summatontoast who was meting with the surgeon. I do hope she got on ok.

Been to visit Auntie. She has a date to move to a nursing home in her village which she seems resigned to. It's her birthday tomorrow and fortunately my brother reminded me while I was on the bus so I stopped off and got her a card.

Dh cooking tea - chicken curry with he sauce out of a jar, but at least I'm not cooking tonight!

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/11/2011 18:27

oh smee -there's an owl in your picture !! Well done for all that exercise ! Shame about buoyancy aids not being too good.
hope auntie has a nice birthday tomorrow jane
Must get back upstairs again- resisted the crisps and ate an apple and a peppermint.

happy birthday to your Auntie jane, coincidentally its my dad's birthday today - he's 91.

We get quite a lot of owls round us - very rural area - I love them, especially the barn owls, they are so beautiful.

I must put up a link DD sent me the other day with a lovely owl on it having his head stroked.

Am wondering if one of you lovely ladies can help me. Briefly BC 18 years ago aged 49 (I am so lucky) had a TRAM flap a year later since then I have had on going problems with abdominal hernias, have had 2 lots of meshing placed in lower abdomen with minimal reduction of pain. Recently pain (4 months) has become quite severe, my fault for lifting 12 & 6 yr old DC's. Is there any point getting it repaired and what pain killers are any good.BTW am now hoisting my little scumbags. Sorry for whining usually very upbeat.

DeeScent · 21/11/2011 18:46

Sorry, I have no advice - hopefully someone will be along to comment.

Just wanted to say how encouraging it is to hear someone say they had bc 18 years ago! Fantastic, but sorry to hear about the pain you've described. Hope you find a solution.

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/11/2011 19:04

wonderful owls kk Grin
Sorry- no idea either 2old - maybe someone else will be able to advise.
Fab that you are 18 years since dx Smile
Happy birthday to your dear dad too kk

Hi 2old - I don't know whether I can really be of a great deal of help to you. I have had an abdominal hernia repaired, and in my case it did help with the pain, although its not entirely gone. Personally I would go for a repair, as I would be worried about complications if it is just left, but obviously that something to be discussed with a medical person.

Painkillers, - with my own hernia experience I would say avoid anything with codeine in, as they are very constipating, which doesn't help with pain in that area. Unless your GP prescribes them with something like lactulose to combat that.

Are you able to take anti inflammatories? - Voltarol can work quite well for pain in that area, might be worth asking you or GP about options available to you. But moan loudly, otherwise IME they try to palm you off with paracetamol or something.

Its great to hear you are doing so well Smile

pink - I have used the cheap mock bio oil, - it does work, (I put a few drops in the bath sometimes) I think its a slightly thinner consistency than Bio Oil though. Worth a try to see if it does work for you, as BIo Oil is so expensive Shock

jchocchip · 21/11/2011 19:44

Hope your Dad had a good day today KK.

Dh had mesh hernia repairs, some time ago now. I would want to get them seen to as painkillers long term may lose their potency.

I'm going to look out for the mock bio oil. I have a jar of the real stuff, (not using it at the moment because of rads) it is rather expensive.

Love hearing owls - did hear them a lot at the last house we lived in. I know they are around here, but don't often hear them.

jchocchip · 21/11/2011 19:54

And I got my flights! My cousin is coming for Christmas to see her Mum and suggested that it would be a good idea for me to go back with her for New Year. She lives in Morocco. Dh doesn't like travelling abroad and the dds have to go to school. It won't cost too much as I can stay with my cousin and her family and a little bit of winter sun will do me good :) Best to use up some of my holiday at work before March and it will be more relaxed before I have a full case-load.

OH that's brilliant news cat, I'm so pleased for you.You must be very relieved, - have a little cry if you feel like it - you try so hard to hold it all together when you are waiting for results, it's emotionally exhausting, so give yourself a few days to 'come down' Smile

And yes there's plenty of chocolate limes left, - you get a lot of nasty sweets for your money in Poundland Grin

Hooray for flights jane - I would guess Morocco is an amazing country to visit.

smee · 21/11/2011 20:37

Woo-hoo !! Cat, that is fantastic. Cry, stomp and cheer here. Of course you must. Am so v.pleased for you xx Smile

Not a lot to say after the good news. MAS, had spotted and approve of the owl in my tree. Smile

Lovely clip, Kurri. Have never thought of an owl as cat-like before. v.sweet.

2o2be, sorry I haven't a clue, but it does sound painful. Are you still under a consultant of some sort? Surely they should help. Brilliant you've been through and so long out the other side of BC though. Mighty cheering to hear that. Smile

Jane, where about in Morocco? Gorgeous country and the sun will heal your bones am sure. What a lovely start to 2012. Smile

Running off as lots to do, so apologies if I've missed people. Hope everyone's well. Smile

Delighted for you Cat64, the best possible news and similar to my situation, what a relief! What an understatement that is. When was your surgery?

DeeScent · 21/11/2011 20:48

Another in a similar situation here Cat. Really thrilled for you. Enjoy your celebration tonight - make the most of those positive emotions because as we all know it's such a challenge to get through this and you need to thoroughly enjoy any good news you can.

I started Tamoxifen three days ago. Hope you get on fine with it.

DeeScent · 21/11/2011 20:49

HI Drift - how are you doing?

jchocchip · 21/11/2011 20:53

Woot for cat, that is brilliant news :) Time to celebrate Wine

jchocchip · 21/11/2011 21:11

Smee We are flying to Marrakech and then driving to Rabat where my cousin lives. I expect I will get the train back to Marrakech for the return flight. I spent years promising to go, went the first time December 2009 and then went again March this year. I'll be quite happy mooching about Rabat if my cousin is at work. They were building an amazing tramway that was nearly finished and I could have a ride on that. I like the roman ruins, the architecture and the sunsets.

topsyturner · 21/11/2011 21:12

Cat you celebrate loud and proud ! Bloody brilliant news Grin

Jane any room in your suitcase for Morrocco ? I will bring shoes and wine ?

kk loved the owl video , I could do with being petted like that !

2old2be another useless one here , sorry I have no info for you and hope you get sorted soon . Again fab to hear from someone so far down the track .

Kievs are easy . Take one chicken breast , make pocket in it with sharp knife . Stuff with garlic and parsley butter . Dip in beaten egg then breadcrumbs . Then shove in the oven till cooked , usually about 30 mins .
Simples but stinky Grin

Uuuuuugh Ross Kemp , shuuuuut uuuuuup ! Honestly , don't know why DH can't watch any cultural programs like I do (Walking Dead , Buzzcocks , House etc)

Trouble is, I've only paid for 20kg luggage.. Would love to stuff you in my suitcase, Topsy, but I don't think you would fit! Kievs sound scrummy, maybe one day I will try making them.
