Who me? Never....

topsyturner · 10/11/2011 16:21

Right , am finally home !
List of todays shennanigans follows .

1 hour and 20 minutes wait to be seen .
Brought into a room and talked to by consultant radiologist , junior radiologist , and nurse .
Stripped to the waist and poked and drawn on by 3 previously mentioned people . (note to all radiologists , please , if you have to use a metal ruler , please please warm the bugger up before you apply it to naked flesh !]
Get dressed again .
Go outside and wait for another 25 minutes .
Brought into another room with 2 nurses (1 male who looked like a grey haired 70s porn star !) and they stripped me to the waist again and did more measurements with marker pens and metal rulers for my mold .
Get dressed again and wait outside for further 45 minutes .
Brought into CT room , stripped to the waist again .
Put on scanner machine and drawn on again by 4 people (2 male !)
Wires sellotaped to my chest .
Sprayed with baby oil .
Hot wax mould put over my chest .
CT done .
Tattoos done .
Mould off , baby oil wiped off , get dressed , leave !

Oh and the 2nd man who drew on me was doing the Movember thing (grow a moustache for November for prostate cancer) and looked like a short Burt Reynolds Grin

Upshot is , I think they have cured me of being embaressed about exposing my body !

Don't know why I need a sheild made (that's what the wax mould was for)
And the Consultant told me that when I have my Herceptin I will have to have chemo at the same time .
Sigh .

Have now changed into my pjs and have taken to my sofa like a Victorian Lady takes to her fainting couch . I have a headache and I am extremely tired .

Hope everyone else is okay today . I shall come back later after a little nap and read through properly .

SparkleRainbow · 10/11/2011 16:29

Oh Topsy, what an ordeal, no wonder you have taken to your "couch", I hope you have someone waiting on you.

Sorry I haven't been around today, am having a bit of a nightmare, brief description of last 24 hours.....
Get home from school yesterday to discover ds had had a fecal accident, and was unaware it had happened, this following cold numb feet eariler in the week.
Shower and clean him up, leave dh preparing his presentation for today and take dd1 horse riding.
Retuirn from hores riding (note to self need to take something to calm nerves before watching my little dd1 (only 6) canter around school on big BIG pony)
Dh says school rang, read my presentation, ds in pain, have to apply for job which closing date is midnight!
Feed dc, painrelief phsyio and massage for ds, into bed
Sit though and help improve presentation
More massage and pain relief for ds.
Help dh write application and submit, finished at 9.30
Sit to watch frozen planet, make dh turn over as sob through killer whales killing minky whale( what was that about!!!!)
Bed
Up to ds in pain, get him to school, manages most of the morning, then have to collect as pain too great.
Phonecall with dh just before presentation to boost self confidence (I hope)

Right that is where I am now, knackered, ready to cry, not sure what to do about ds, hospital useless. I HAVE HAD ENOUGH

Brew next, as you were

SparkleRainbow · 10/11/2011 16:30

If you got through that post, thanks you for listening, if not I completely understand Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/11/2011 16:45

I read it sparkle and it sounds horribly mentally and physically exhausting- poor love, and poor junior sparkle Sad
topsy also- am exhausted by your adventures Grin @ 70s porn star and Burt Reynolds. Bloody well done though.

Hi all, thank you very much for your kind words and good wishes. Unfortunately I found out at my consultation yesterday that I do have cancer in my right breast and lymph gland. All feels like a bad dream, especially as we're keeping the news from my 3 DDs (3,8 and 13) until we've calmed down a bit. Never knew smiling could be so exhausting Confused. So I guess I'll be visiting this thread a lot more in the coming months. I am sorry that I haven't had a chance to read back through everyone's posts, but sending you all slightly damps hugs. CT scan tomorrow, fingers tightly crossed xxx

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/11/2011 17:28

oh shron, that's rotten but we'll be here for you and you'll get through it. I've started a new thread (link below) as this is almost full so do skip over to it.
Take care x
