can you believe it ??!!

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 09/11/2011 20:55

Oh bless your heart topsy, its OK to feel like that, don't get upset. Tell them -, honestly, they will be really understanding and do everything they can to make you feel comfortable.

Its a really natural way to feel after mastectomy and you certainly won't be the first person to feel bothered by the idea of undressing, so don't be embarrassed, let them help you through it.

Now - what have you got lined up in the way of a treat for when you done all your hospital business tomorrow? Mystic Kurri is looking into her crystal ball -- whooo whooo 'I see chocolate, ..... I see creamy things...... I see something red in a bottle.....' Grin xx

DeeScent · 09/11/2011 20:56

Aaw, Topsy, ((hugs)). I expect you feel a bit vulnerable, but I'm sure the ladies will be very sensitive and kind. All the best x

jchocchip · 09/11/2011 21:00

Aw Topsy, if they are anything like the radiographers at my hosp they will be lovely. Also remember they are probably more used to seeing lopsided chests than anyone else given the number of appointments they get through every day. There are private rooms to change into hosp gowns at my hosp and they only turn back the side they are working on when you are on the machine.

It is a good idea to wear something that makes you feel good Topsy and give some of yourlovely shoes an outing :)

smee · 09/11/2011 21:21

Topsy they'll be lovely honestly. Have a weep then listen to Mystic Kurri, for she is most wise. Will be thinking of you xx

topsyturner · 09/11/2011 21:31

Thankyou all for induldging me .
I will be fine once I get it over and done with .
Vulnerable is precisely how I feel .

Now watching Frozen Planet , then bed I think .
Still not chosen what to wear , think I shall prob "do a topsy " in the morning . Just fling every item of clothing I posess all over the bedroom . And then I shall end up going with my usual jeans , vest top and cardy ensemble Grin

Driftwood999 · 09/11/2011 21:34

Topsy, big hug coming your way, wear something you like to the appointment and remember, that as professionals they consider it a priviledge to treat patients, I have often heard that said. And you are lovely.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/11/2011 22:13

dear topsy- it'll be fine I'm sure- try not to fret but I completely understand -I am pathetic about being undressed and anyone looking at me-I hate it. Lie back and think of fbs Smile
Are you home yet jane -do hope so.
I haven't been asked to do any Christmas cards yet (pictures for Christmas yes) actually-I fib- I have designed one for my parents and one for the bc charity in Basingstoke- Phoenix cards didn't want me (so I am scornful of them)

Ds has forgotten to hand an important slip into his tutor -am very cross with him -it's for an appointment with her next week on pupil review day - his head is in the clouds-have taped a note to the cover of his planner which will annoy him.

jchocchip · 10/11/2011 08:18

Sorry I should have said I was home. It is not a long train ride and only a little walk from the station! It would have been nicer to be home at 7.30 rather than 8...

jchocchip · 10/11/2011 08:33

Morning all.

Topsy - hope you have decided what to wear! Hope you don't have to wait too long today.

amberlight · 10/11/2011 09:35

Topsy, go for something cuddly and comfy to wear. Will be thinking of you today.

At home. Another nosebleed. Seeing my nice GP this afternoon for advice because I'm getting really stressed out about this. Poor dh is having to do so much extra right when he needs my help the most because of his eyesight problems and he's getting really trembly-lipped too. And we're trying to run a business, which is ruddy hard in this economy already without me being unable to work because of silly nosebleeds. Of all the silly bloomin things to derail me, given everything I've managed to actually work through so far....

cakesandale · 10/11/2011 09:40

Topsy - hugs from me. I second what everyone else here has said, let the good radio staff support you, don't try to be stronger than you feel. They WILL help you through, but they need to know you are feeling vulnerable. Wear something lovely and spend the time on the machine (which is very short) planning what to do when you have got off. And make it nice.

ALso, the treatment makes you a bit tired and blue. So double up on the treat quantities.

Bye all until tomorrow. Now got so much work between now and Christmas I don't think I can shoehorn anything else in. This is GREAT, I am truly not complaining, though I do miss waffling away to you lot. Probably see you on thread 16. Wow!

cakesandale · 10/11/2011 09:42

Amber - cross post. Sad Thinking of you and willing some sense and practical help from the GP. x

pinkstarlight · 10/11/2011 10:37

topsy...oh bless you its not nice to feel like that,i can totally relate to how you feel.the ladies at my planning was lovely and very chatty which was a big help. good luck for today.

amber..oh no i thought you was sorted, must be so hard on you both.i hope phase passes quickly and your gp has some good advice.my ds goes through stages of having bad nosebleeds so i know what a pain they are.

cakes..must be a nice feeling knowing you have enough work.

my mum is surprisingly chirpy after falling and breaking her arm seems more bothered she cant drive her new car, trouble is thats the third fall this year shes had.very hard as shes lives a long way from me though they are trying to move near me but their house sale has just fallen through for the second time in 3 months.will feel much better when they are near by.

pinkstarlight · 10/11/2011 10:37

sorry mumbroke her wrist not arm

smee · 10/11/2011 11:14

Amber, allow the lip trembling to go into sobbing for a while maybe? I honestly think when women finish Chemo they collapse in a heap emotionally (actually I think it kind of helps if you do) and your nose bleeds are enough to tip anyone over the edge. Hope GP has some ideas this afternoon, but give yourself a treat or two and some time if you can.

Wonder if Topsy's okay. Hope anticipation's worse than the event.

Pink, glad your mum's not too bad. How long before she can drive again ?

Nothing to tell here. Have mountains of work like Cake, so I'd better hunker down. Hope everyone's having a good sort of day. Will pop in later for a Brew

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/11/2011 11:15

waves to busy cakes ! same here-lots on so shouldn't be on MN Grin
grr about nosebleeds again amber - hope gp can sort it.
Thinking of topsy now - let's hope you are back home soon and snuggled with snacks. Ok,back to my quests.

jchocchip · 10/11/2011 13:06

Went for coffee with work friend and her lovely baby. Only got a little lost on the way home ;)
Amber I hope your nose settles down soon.

Glad Pink's Mum is doing ok with her broken wrist. My Mum didn't go to hospital after she broke hers a few years ago and by the time I called the doctor it was set crooked. As the function was good gp decided to just splint it and leave it that way and it is still ok.
Hope Topsy is ok.

topsyturner · 10/11/2011 13:14

Topsy is ok Grin
She is still in the blardy hospital though !

I have stripped to the waist 2 times so far , and have to do it again soon .
I have been measured , drawn on , and had a mold made of my chest and neck .
Waiting for CT and tattoos now .
This is taking for blardy ever !

jchocchip · 10/11/2011 13:20

A mold? Like the plaster of paris ones some people get done?

amberlight · 10/11/2011 13:20

A mold as well as tattoos? I'll be taking notes of all of this for my one next week Shock

Have a Brew whilst you're waiting...

jchocchip · 10/11/2011 13:22

Glad you are ok Topsy, think of all the fbs you should have later.

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/11/2011 13:27

a mould ! did they say why ? my dad had one for his prostate rads

OP posts:
pinkstarlight · 10/11/2011 13:56

smee..im not sure i guess it depends on how she feels, luckily she has an automatic.

jane...my mum fell on tuesday night they have put something temporary on it and she has to go in today to have the proper cast put on.

topsy...when you go for the daily rads its much quicker,i found i was in and out very quickly.i have not heard of having a mold done why do they do that.

had a nice snooze on the settee dont know whats wrong with me today everything on tv keeps making me cry so far ive cried at undercover boss and nanny 911.

cakesandale · 10/11/2011 14:12

A mould? The mind boggles! I'd love to know what that's about! I didn't have one of those, but I suppose it varies from place to place....

Grin at crying at undercover Boss and Nanny 911. It's obviously a sofa day. Pink. Give on to it and have a bloody good blart, then lots of FBSs.
