I have done zopiclone in the past and it does help you get to sleep. I was taking quite a cocktail at the time though and my personal preference now is to avoid prescription drugs. I am taking the tamoxifen and seem to be getting on ok with it. My low mood last week turned out to be pre-menstral and I seem to be ok again now. I sleep ok usually, try to get to bed before 11 with a milky drink and read a book. Well I use the word read loosely, haven't got past the first page yet. Sometimes i listen to radio 4 and that sends me off too. I often wake around 5.30 or 6 but generally don't get up then. Activity during the day helps, swimming and playing music badly help to destress me.

They do instant horlicks now so you don't even have to boil milk. I just put a splash of cold milk in mine. Of course these days you can heat milk in a microwave and don't have to worry about it boiling over.

pinkstarlight · 08/11/2011 20:39

smee..there very comfy, like putting your slippers on.

jane...your teen sounds like mine who wouldnt be seen dead in a pair of uggs, i just ignore my dds vomit noises.

kurri...glad your dads brighter must be such a worry for you.

sparkle...thank goodness your hubby has you,you sound a real rock to him.i hope something turns up to take the pressure and worry away.

my dd who is at uni shares a house with 4 other girls, just had a call off her they are all convinced there house is haunted.lots of strange noises and footsteps and the living room window keeps opening , its a really old house built into a hill.

topsyturner · 08/11/2011 21:13

Oooh spooky pink . Are they worried ?
They can always ask the local Priest to come and perform a blessing .

Dinner done .
2 DC in bed .
Just got Doc Martin in the Bahamas Grin paused till DH finishes demolishing cleaning the kitchen .

Managed to squeeze a glass of wine out of the bottle I had left in the fridge . Shall try that as a sleep aid tonight and see how that works .

pinkstarlight · 08/11/2011 21:45

topsy...i think that being students they are trying to find a rational explanation but whats thrown them is because their house is built into a hill their living room is upstairs and the window keeps opening all on its own even when they lock the child lock.hope the wine helps you sleep.

Driftwood999 · 08/11/2011 22:29

The blue wee made an appearance tonight, just thought I'd share that! Also wierd tingles in the back of my arm, feels like I'm being tickled by an electric ribbon, I though I had a loose thread or something, but no. Read that is normal, but it does go? Also feel wide awake, this is the latest I've been up in several weeks, I would have thought that the anasthetic of yesterday and continuous painkillers since would make me drowsy, but no.

jchocchip · 08/11/2011 22:43

Just seen my cousin off to fly home - her brother has arrived and will be here this week to visit his Mum. It is all so sudden for them as my Auntie was so active and we just didn't expect her to be ill. Now there is some confusion over whether she will get an assessment bed or not. She needs to do some physio but apparently the physios say she is not engaging. So difficult to know what to do and say for the best.

Scarey to be in a creaky old house. Sometimes they just creak for no reason. Strange about the window though!

Laugh at the vomit noises pink.

Just collected dd from jam night at the pub. didn't want her walking home at this time of night. Her friend sang tonight, unexpectedly which was good.

jchocchip · 08/11/2011 22:49

Hi Drift. yay for blue wee! Didn't have the wierd tingles so I'm no help there.

Tired now, so better not watch any tv - will catch up on dm in paradise tomorrow if i remember!

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/11/2011 22:57

blue wee -yay ! tingling I think will just be nerve stuff, nothing to worry about I wouldn't think. Hope you get to sleep ok,and you too topsy. Eek at haunted house pink !!

Hi everyone waves...have just found this thread after some difficulty with t'interweb. Am off to get biopsy results in the morning after quite a faff with appointments and stuff...v stressed. Consultant had a "kind but concerned" face at consultation :S Have three daughters and can't help but think the worst...googling hasn't made me feel any better lol. Should I be preparing myself for bad news? Two dodgy areas on ultrasound, plus enlarged lymph gland...any honest advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance lovely Mumsnet ladies x

Iamseeingstars · 09/11/2011 02:52

Hi SHron, Hugs to you.

I cant comment on your actual situation but I do know that worrying and internet searching wont help you. Once you get your diagnosis, whether good or bad, then you have to work on a strategy to deal with it, and start info gathering if things are bad.

There is a huge support group on this thread and everyone has been really helpful. See what happens tomorrow and try not to worry but do keep coming on and asking lots of questions.

Good luck

Shron74 · 09/11/2011 03:02

Thank you stars, for your super-quick answer, and the much appreciated hugs! Am dreading tomorrow...hoping for the best, but trying (!!) to prepare for the worst.

This thread looks like a godsend, although quite difficult to find! Had heard so much about Mumsnet that I knew there'd be fabulous support. Many thanks for taking time out to reply...I know you must hear the same old things so many times over :)

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/11/2011 07:38

hello shron ! wishing you much luck today, will be thinking of you. I echo stars advice - once you know what you are dealing with things will be less scary and there's every chance it will be good news. If it isn't then we are always here.x

Figgyroll · 09/11/2011 07:41

Morning all and welcome to Shron. Keeping fingers crossed for good news today. If however the news isnt what you wanted to hear then come back for hand holding, support and lots of brilliant advice from the ladies on this board.
Welcome home Drift. Hope you're not feeling too sore.
Hello to everyone else. Will do a proper catch up after work. Help yourself to Brew and toast. xx

topsyturner · 09/11/2011 07:50

Morning All

Welcome to shron , wishing you good luck for today . Come back and let us know how you got on .

Drift I still get the tingly feeling , but I had mastectomy and node clearance and they cut the nerves when they do this . So I still have a lot of numbness in my arm and chest .

Slept a fair bit better last night . Woke up a few times , but managed to get back to sleep pretty quickly .

Giving DS an extra day off today . He slept a lot yesterday , and was back and forth to the loo during the night with a dodgy tummy .
And I am trying to ignore it in the vain hope I am imagining things , but I am feeling pretty damn queezy myself this morning ...

jchocchip · 09/11/2011 08:38

Morning all and hello to Sharon. Hope it is good news today, but the waiting and not knowing is awful so we feel for you.

Topsy - you make me feel queezy just talking queezy ;) Think it is because I haven't had breakfast yet.

It's the knitting group today so I will pop in for a coffee but really I should be doing some knitting! Can't seem to get going on it.

dd2 has started with exema again. She had it when little but has been clear for a few years. Don't know if it is the cold weather or stress setting it off.

DeeScent · 09/11/2011 09:03

Hi Shron and welcome to the thread. The waiting for a diagnosis can be very stressful - I hope the medical staff are kind and reassure you that whatever the outcome they have seen it all before and know what to do.

Drift, the blue wee looks like toilet disinfectant, doesn't it! I'm glad I was pre-warned otherwise I would have been very Shock ! I've had that nerve tingling too, so probably quite normal - my GP prescribed Amitryptyline to address it.

Glad you had a bit more sleep last night Topsy. Poor Ds - I do hope you haven't caught it off him.

MaryAnnSingleton · 09/11/2011 09:12

hope ds perks up soon topsy !

OneInEight · 09/11/2011 09:42

Good-morning everyone,

Shern - good-luck for your appointment. I got my diagnosis a week ago. Initially they thought I also had lymph node involvement but on a second ultrasound they looked normal and was told they can look different from day to day. So do not panic about that yet. My stress levels were hitting the roof before my appointment last week but strangely since diagnosis I have been calmer.

Going in today so they can tell me what operation they will perform. I think I going to opt to delay reconstruction as they can do the operation more quickly and there is less recovery time. Hope I don't regret this. The thought of any operation terrifies me anyway but am finding the ostrich technique of head in the sand and refusing to think about it is working O.K. Did finally force myself to read the booklet yesterday.

Drift- glad your procedure went O.K. Obviously got blue wee to look forward to. Reminds me of the time in the toilets of a department store and my d.s did a spectacularly green number two. I am embarassed to say I reported the fact in a very loud voice only to realise there was a queue of ladies waiting outside.

Topsy - I have been having sleepless nights too and lots of strange dreams. Actually I get too sleep O.K. but just wake up in the early hours with mind in over-drive. Got birthday party to organise for Saturday so am trying to think about that instead of more horrid things.

jchocchip · 09/11/2011 10:01

Morning 1in8 hope you have a good day today with not too much waiting around. Birthday parties have their own stress, don't they? I enjoyed them when dcs were little. Dd has been organising her own birthday treats for a while now but I suppose we should think about doing something for her 18th!

pinkstarlight · 09/11/2011 10:05

hi shron glad you have found us, the waiting is horrible and causes your mind to work overtime..just want to wish you good luck, let us know how you get on.

drift..i had my op in august and i still get a strange tickly itch a couple of inches above my mx,i also get another strange sensation where it feels like my nodes are draining i feel dripping and on a few occasions ive actually checked if im wet because thats how it feels.

topsy...hope your not coming down with it,my dd is also off school today with a virus.

dee...blue wee must be really strange.

jane..im thinking of joining a knitting club i can knit but i really want to learn to crochet, apparently john lewis do sessions must go and find out.

1in8..i also did the head in the sand thing and read the leaflets at the last moment.

feeling a little put out just found out my mum is in hospital after she had a fall last night and broke her wrist, step dad failed to let me know.missed a call off my mums mobile which i thought odd as her and mobiles dont mix and of course its switched off so rang the house had a nice little chat with stepdad as we do everyday then asked for my mum and got a "oh shes in hospital".shes coming home this morning so will speak to her then, but im a bit bothered about stepdad ive noticed some changes in him over the last year and hes starting to forget things.find it very odd he didnt ring last night then this morning chat away happily then slip in that mums in hospital.

DeeScent · 09/11/2011 10:27

Oh dear Pink I hope your Mum is okay. Might have shaken her up a bit? Is it the hand she uses most? A bit worrying re you step-dad not mentioning it. Sadly, I've noticed parents and in-laws getting a bit "forgetful" often repeating things in the same conversation. (Mind you I have my moments too!)

cakesandale · 09/11/2011 11:15

Hi all, I know I am being crap at the moment and not keeping up but I just wanted to say I am sending positive vibes to 1 in 8 and a big hello and welcome hug to Shron74.

I am thinking of you both and hoping for the best.

And for everyone else, of course.

I just have my head down trying to working at the moment, I will surface soon. x

Driftwood999 · 09/11/2011 11:32

Good luck with your appointments, Shron74 for tomorrow and OneinEight today. I was scooped up by the lovely ladies on here when I posted in General Health and I am so glad they did. This is a significant help. I was a mad lady when I was first dx. Recovering from Monday's operation now, go back for histology etc next Tuesday but feel quite calm atm. I've just cut up a swede (the vegetable) Grin and cleaned out the woodburner so feel quite proud of myself.
