Snort at "Cathedral not weapon of mass destruction" Grin

Just in , give me chance to unpack shopping (food not shoes) and I shall be back with boobylicious snack ideas !

jchocchip · 04/11/2011 18:37

On my way home from rads. Two days off, yipee :) Bit fed up at waiting around, had earlier appointment today so had to get an earlier train in, but still same train home :(

Figgyroll · 04/11/2011 19:11

Hello all.

Oh Sparkles, I'm so so sorry to hear your news. Sad The advice given is brilliant and I don't have anything to add except to say that I am sure you and your DH will cope once you have got over the initial shock. Sending you a hug ((((((((())))))))))

Pink, my armpit turned black about 7 days after my last radiotherapy session and the surrounding area looks very wrinkled and sore and felt very tight for a few days. The blackness has gone now (all that airing did the trick) and despite the horrible appearance of the rest of the area, the nurse assures me it's perfectly normal. Their main concern is getting an infection so it's best to get it looked at just to be on the safe side.

I love the idea of a booby-themed party. I haven't got any suggestions for the food (yet) but I'm sure we'll come up with some fun ideas.

Jane, those two days off are fab, aren't they? Make the most of them and spoil yourself. I remember, one weekend, I wanted to go to Waitrose and drove straight past and found myself driving nearly all the way to the hospital before I realised it was a "no rads day". I think my brain was on auto-pilot. Smile

We are luxuriating in warmth and hot water now our new boiler's installed. It was a lonnnnggggggg three days!!!

Driftwood999 · 04/11/2011 19:20

Coconut breasts pyramids with a cherry on top Grin Could not stop blushing when I made these as a new bride, and found myself offering them round at our first BBQ Blush

DeeScent · 04/11/2011 19:22

Had a busy afternoon today , and when I got home you guys had progressed a whole 2 pages . Way to go !

Re everyones Birmingham connections . I think I can go 1 better .
I once went to Birmingham for a girly weekend !
See ? I told it was good ... Grin

Went to a friends house this afternoon , had lunch , yummy fresh crusty bread and cold meats .
Then we made Minions (from the film Despicable Me) out of Kinder eggs and googly eyes , fab fun !

Came home and then bobbed straight out to Tesco .
I bought 3 new pans on the Tesco voucher thingy that's running at the moment . Beautiful shiney ones . Got a lovely big stock pot , big stirfry pan , and a normal pan .
See it's not just shoes , I do Kitchen Porn too ...

amberlight · 04/11/2011 20:01

'evening everyone.

What an interesting day in A&E with major nosebleed that only really stopped 10 hrs later. And to specialist hospital for blood tests since NHS can't work a portacath. All on ds's birthday too! Seems herceptin's put my blood pressure way up. If I can navigate the weekend, I've got GP then Onc then ENT on Monday (can't wait Hmm )

Anyone for virtual Wine since I can't have any real stuff?

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/11/2011 20:11

bah - poor you amber- I'd've fainted clean away.
Hope they can sort you out though.
I've been to Birmingham, once - for a wedding- and dh went to university there, and 2 of my friends live there - does that count ? One friend's sister is curator of fine art at Birmingham City Art Gallery (sits back to acknowledge impressed nods)
Hooray for boiler figgy !

Ah Amber, what a sod. Shock Is that a common side effect then? What happens next? Come let us distract you with virtual wine and daft breast themed food. As usual our collective level of intellect is stella. Grin

Figgy, hip-hip for heating. Wine to that. Smile

Jane, hope you're okay and not still down. Weekend now. Indulge. Smile

Waving to all others. Just done our fireworks outside. Daft cat watched them with us, curled up in my scarf. Grin

topsyturner · 04/11/2011 20:18

Not good Amber . < Pours amber big mug of tea>

KurriKurri · 04/11/2011 20:27

Poor you amber Sad - what a rotten side effect to get. Can they give you something to lower your blood pressure? - I hope they get it sorted out soon, and you can carry on with your treatment problem free.

topsy - sounds like you had a fun day Smile

Enjoy your weekend off jane Smile

amberlight · 04/11/2011 20:28

I think the blood pressure raise is a common one, and lots of herceptin patients seem to report nose bleeds. We'll see what the collective great and good think on Monday.
Love the humour Grin

smee · 04/11/2011 20:36

MAS you're virtually a Brummie. Grin

DeeScent · 04/11/2011 20:40

too realistic to be appetising?

I vote to have a bakewell tart underneath.

DeeScent · 04/11/2011 20:41

amber that sounds miserable. Do you feel a bit weak after losing so much blood?

amberlight · 04/11/2011 20:57

DeeScent, nope. They took blood tests and all levels are still ok, thank goodness.
But v tired from the sensory overload and routine-changes (which wee aspies are not good at)

Oh look, more tea! Excellent!
A bakewell tart underneath? Each to their own, I say Wink

DeeScent · 04/11/2011 21:03

Oops, didn't mean to be quite that cheeky Blush

Had the post-op blues today - can't get motivated; can't get excited about booking a holiday. Anyone taken Amitriptyline for nerve pain? Wondering if this is an SE?

topsyturner · 04/11/2011 22:38

Dee I got post op blues aswell . I shut myself away and cried for 24 hours !

I am so tired , have done far too much today . Think tomorrow calls for a long lie in .
DH has just stood and done 2 hours of ironing , so I suppose I really shouldn't complain that I am tired !

Off to bed now , try not to post too much whilst I'm gone ...

Amber - nose bleed sounds 'orrible, I hope you have a better day today.

topsyturner · 05/11/2011 09:15

Grrrrr , blardy pig/dog .
Woke me up barking at Lord knows what , probably a plastic bag or something equally threatening ...

Amber - I have the duct tape ready incase you try and get off the sofa today Grin

Might make a trip to Ikea today . Is that madness on a Saturday afternoon ?

topsyturner · 05/11/2011 09:17

Jane I think pig/dog and danger cat should be introduced to each other . I imagine they could make a very special brand of chaos Grin
