can you believe it ??!!

Dee - my appointment is 11.20 too. Keeping my fingers crossed we both get get good news. Also for 14 K and anyone else getting results today.

14K -definitely try and take someone to the appointment with you. It is so difficult to remember what they say especially when they go into medical speak. The consultant used the term 'non-diagnosable' to us which I thought meant the biopsy hadn't worked but in actual fact means there were no abnormal cells.

Hugs to IamSeeingStars -

DeeScent · 02/11/2011 06:58

Oneineight - hope all goes well for you too. The waiting room can be a difficult place can't it - they were 50 mins late last time and the tension mounted...it's almost worse for dh I think.

Perhaps swap notes with you on this thread later?

DeeScent · 02/11/2011 06:59

"Swap notes" as in update each other... not literally swap diagnoses lol Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/11/2011 07:40

Grin @ swap diagnoses !! lots of good luck to all of you- will be thinking of you.
I remember not being able to sit still in the waiting area on results day- it wasn't until 5.30 in the afternoon.

l4k · 02/11/2011 07:48

morning Dee and 1in8, my appointment is not till 2:30 so you're both before me! I hope you both get the best results possible.

thanks to everyone for the messages.I always read them all .
I'm taking my DH with me but he doesn't say much!
hope everyone has a good day.

l4k · 02/11/2011 07:50

x post mas, thats how long my typing takes!!!!
morning!

DeeScent · 02/11/2011 08:12

solidarity, ladies.

l4k I hope you are able to keep yourself nicely busy until 2.30. Hope it goes as well as it can for you.

We have parking ishoos at our hospital so we have to go in significantly early!!!!!!!!! (Last thing you want to do)

For my pre-op assessment there were nurses wandering around with no patients because the car park queue was so long and lots of people were late!

I don't watch much tv but have discovered "Country House Rescue" on Channel 4 OD on their website, so have been mainlining lots of episodes as pure escapism.

l4k · 02/11/2011 08:36

has drift got an appointment today too?

DeeScent · 02/11/2011 08:48

Drift - hope your pre-assessment goes smoothly today and you find it reassuring.

l4k · 02/11/2011 09:27

yes ,me too.thinking of you all.

Figgyroll · 02/11/2011 09:28

Sending good luck wishes to all those with appointments today. I hope you arent kept waiting too long.
Im having another day of 'airing' and a smear at 2pm. Eek!! I shall make sure I have a nice FBS on hand for a treat after.

OneInEight · 02/11/2011 09:50

Feeling sick now! Luckily our hospital is not too far away and we can park by the station and then walk. The parking by the hospital is bound to be full up by 11.

topsyturner · 02/11/2011 09:56

Morning Everyone .
Only slept till about 9am today , you've got to love it being half term and the DC enjoying lie ins !

So many positive vibes heading over the water to dee 14k drift and 1in8
Hoping everything goes as well as it can do (special good luck dust to cut down on the waiting time too)

figgy good luck with the smear this afternoon

Lazy day today . Did all my housework yesterday so all I have to do today is a couple of loads of laundry and hoover pig/dogs detritus (we have lost another toy overnight to the disembowler Grin )

Going to view a new car tonight when DH finishes work . Means nowt to me (I don't even drive !) , but DH loves his vehicles and I have been subjected to pictures and car specs all blardy week .
My comment of "what colour is it" was looked upon with contempt Grin

Breakfast anyone ?
Crumpets and hot chocolate here again I think .
Comfort brekkie as it appears to be blowing a gale here .

DeeScent · 02/11/2011 10:01

Hey, the colour is very important Wink

cakesandale · 02/11/2011 10:07

Dee - your hospital sounds suspiciously like mine - not in Coventry, are you?

I also lurve Country House Rescue, Ruth is so rude. I especially liked it when she told one obstructive old goat to piss or get off he pot. His face was priceless Grin

Dee, 14k, driftwood, 1in8 and Cat 64 - good luck to you all. I can't light a candle as i am off out and don't fancy a conflagration, but I will be thinking of you all.

Seeingstars - bloody hell, love, you have a lot on your plate. Stay with us, we might be able to cheer/distract a bit. x

KK - ouch. I hope the injections are worth it. Sympathies.

janechocchip · 02/11/2011 10:09

Good morning everyone. Breakfast seems ages ago, tho tbh I'm not dressed yet. Don't feel like doing much and I really must vacuum this morning. Maybe virtual hot choc and crumpets would be just the thing. Thanks Topsy :) Hugs to all on way to appointments today.

And colour IS very important in a car. I wouldn't get a silver one again...

MaryAnnSingleton · 02/11/2011 10:18

yes,car colour is important- BIL has a banana yellow one which is a bit eeww..Charles,my much loved car is a beautiful blue. I do like particular cars,my desire is for a Fiat 500 but don't tell Charles.(he is a Citroen C3)
Lots of luck to everyone - take some Haribos from my trick or treat pumpkin...
figgy hope airing is going well and that smear is less dramatic than mine...I expect you are very sensible and not a wimp.

Not in Coventry, but I think hospital parking is often contentious especially re charges.

I love Ruth - she's very, er, direct but seems a genuinely nice person who isn't there to humiliate anyone (unlike some other tv "stars" who like to boost their egos at the expense of Joe Public)and seems to have some really good common sense ideas.

I just love looking at all the gorgeous art and soft furnishings.

smee · 02/11/2011 10:33

No time to write, but I have lit a candle for you all today. We'll be here for you hoping for the best of news. Smile

good luck to everyone who has appointments today,my heart goes out to you all.

stars....im another one who has lost weight almost 2 stone its still coming off me but at a very slow rate.i got a bit worried when i kept reading others complain they had gained weight but it seems like most people go either way and a guess we are all different.

i remember being terrified about starting chemo i didnt have time to blink before they started me on it i got myself really worked up as quite honestly like most people i didnt want to do chemo but had little choice.my mum gave me some very good advice and told me to stop treating it like the enemy as it was what was going to make me better also when i had my op i was like omg tomorrow im not going to have a boob but she reminded me that tomorrow i would be cancer free.it so hard to get out of panic mode i know as i have been there.remember we will all be rooting for you.

at last my brand new shiny tumble dryer is due to arrive today, thank goodness for that im now over run with washing.

went to my daughter school for a post 16 event last night, her school is in the middle of nowhere.being a daft bat i reclined a lift home as we wanted to take our time and talk to the teachers, went to the bus stop to find buses ran every 2 hours and my battery on my phone had died. so being clever decided to walk to the next village i got the giggles as my daughter got mad as she kept being convinced she had trod in horse poo then she got totally freaked out when i mentioned blair witch.so ended up walking all the way back and sat in the pub while we waited for the bus.

Figgyroll · 02/11/2011 11:35

I lost 2 stones too, Pink, I think it was a combination of the shock of losing mum and then my diagnosis a few days later, then all the treatment. I've slowly put half a stone back on but seem to have stabilised now. I'd really like to lose another couple of stones but will do it in my own time - at the moment the occasional FBS seems like a necessity, almost a medical requirement Grin.

Your mum gave you good advice there. Smile at your night out yesterday. Poor DS. Grin

Jane, we've got a silver Focus and I've already said never again. Silver is just so boring imo. Every other car is silver nowadays - next time I want something a bit more colourful. My little Corsa is a lovely blue.

Topsy, I'm still drooling over thinking about which FBS to buy as a treat so sniffing will do you no good. I think it will have to be an apple turnover with fresh cream - that should do the job. Grin

MAS, definitely a wimp I'm afraid but I will be doing my breathing exercises - they usually help with things like that.

I hope KK's dad had a comfortable night and is feeling a little better today.

janechocchip · 02/11/2011 12:10

Cat was trying to eat my simple soap. He also nearly fell in the bath - he certainly managed to get all 4 paws washed. I had shut him out of the bathroom but he appears to get anxious when he can't see me. All I need, a neurotic cat. Think he is still suffering from being locked in that garage the other week :(

KurriKurri · 02/11/2011 12:26

Good morning all, - loads of good vibes to our ladies with appointments today, - will be think of you all and hoping for the very best.

Phoned mum this morning - Dad is a little brighter and was watching the TV yesterday, and has a good appetite now, and is managing pureed food rather than just liquid. Apparantly my DS had written him along letter telling him what a lovely Granddad he is, - so Mum had been reading it to him which he liked Smile

Hand is hurting like a very hurty thing today, GP said it'll be worse before it gets better, just hope the better bit comes soon!

I lost a lot of weight after DX and during surgery, chemo etc., but then I had thyroid problems and put a lot back on, - thyroid in the process of being sorted (radioactive day is 23rd Nov - eek) so I'm hoping once its settled I can really concentrate on getting back in shape.

topsy, you are not alone - I can't drive either (well I can drive, but for some reason the law, very selfishly, insists I pass a test on my driving - and I don't seem able to do that! ,
Hope your DH finds something to suit tonight. Our car is dark green with added mud Grin

Pink - v. Envy of your tumble dryer, - mine is still broken, and we had trouble finding a replacement because it has to be quite narrow to get through the door of the big cupboardy thing we keep it in. Been using the launderette, but I think we'll hit all the electrical shops at the weekend.

love to all.

SparkleRainbow · 02/11/2011 12:31

Smile at the cat jane! My kittens are currcently cuddling up to the keyboard.

I am sorry I am not really up with everyones news, except I was reading about Stars....am I so sorry it sounds like you have a real challenge ahead of you with the treatment, at least with internet connection you can come on here to vent if you want to.

I am having a terrible time at the mo. Dh had a reapply for his job.....again.....just before half term, and now it looks like he may be made redundant. He has only been in post six months, and was brought in by a very excellent and well respected boss (well respected in the national community and international community in their field). That boss has been made redundant basically because they new Head of the team doesn't like him, a political decsison, and dh is probably going to be suffering "cull by association". Dh is the only breadwinner, I have been out of work now for 6 years, as SATM and carer for ds. I have some really good teacher friends who have been applying for jobs locally for over 12 months and not even got an interview! We have some saivings but not enough to cover the mortgage, we have the house, but it is worth less now than we paid for it at the height of the market, and even if I managed to get a full time job it wouldn't cover the mortgage and basic living expenses....and on top of that dh is so vulnerable with his depression...... I have had a panic attack myself this morning just stressing about what I can do to hold this together.....so far can't think of a thing. Sad sorry had to vent it out somewhere.......

pinkstarlight · 02/11/2011 12:49

kurri...so pleased your dad is doing better and how sweet was your ds to write that letter. i have the same problem only have a small space for my dryer use to have a washer/dryer but was a nightmare when it went wrong.i got a white knight from argos £110 and got back £20 in vouchers so quite a bargain, just tested it and its drying really quickly.

jane...aww your poor cat.

sparkles..im so sorry your having such a hard time so so unfair,i wish there was something i could say to make you feel better but all i can do is offer you hugs.
