A rash is often non-existent or the v last thing to appear in M. I know someone - who has childcare qualifications - who very sadly lost her 9 month old baby to M - and there was never a rash at all.
PLease don't wait for it to appear, anyone.

I think a lot of it is that we don't want to believe it can be something sinister, that's why some of us put stuff off. And if a doctor is saying this sort of stuff then what do you expect?

crazydazy · 09/11/2005 21:27

In something as serious as meningitis I think my comment wasn't wrong.

I may not have walked in her shoes but I have walked down the route of not knowing whether I could have acted quicker to save my child going into a coma with the threat of almost losing her leg because I didn't realise she had meningitis.

To be honest its too upsetting to even get into an argument!!! and

yULeYSEES · 09/11/2005 21:30

No, I'm sure you are sad as it reminds you.

Just hope TSs ds is ok

crazydazy · 09/11/2005 21:31

I do too, hopefully she will come back on and let us all know.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 09/11/2005 21:31

I am not getting into an argument, but some of us "know" TS and know what she has been through, so we don't make judgments IYKWIM.

Sorry if you are upset, hope you feel better soon.

crazydazy · 09/11/2005 21:36

Okay well I apologise to you then LadySherlock and will apologise to you know who when she returns!!!

princesspeahead · 09/11/2005 21:36

crazy fwiw I understand how emotive this subject is for you, having gone through what you have, and knowing that god forbid it is meningitis, every minute counts.

my mum is a gp in london and if she gets a mother who is concerned about meningitis, if there is any small possible concern she sends them to a&e. she says that it is too fast moving for her to predict, and she doesn't want to make a judgment that could be wrong. it helps that a&e from her is 10 mins in a cab, though.

crazydazy · 09/11/2005 21:36

HuggyBear · 09/11/2005 21:37

If id have realised who she was I'd have called her What time did she leave? am wondering whether to call her mobile and see if hes ok? wjat do you think?

yULeYSEES · 09/11/2005 21:39

yes please I'm worried sick and am sure everyone else is

Lonelymum · 09/11/2005 21:40

If she is at hospital, she will have to have her mobile switched off.

Janh · 09/11/2005 21:40

If she is at the hosp her phone will be off and if she was home she would be posting I think so we'll have to wait...

Elibean · 09/11/2005 21:41

Adding worried well-wishes...and thanks to those of you who have posted experience on meningitis. I won't forget what I've learnt on this thread.

Really, really hope TS's DS is ok...

MrsSpoon · 09/11/2005 21:50

Just seen this, glad TS has gone to A&E and sincerely hope it is nothing.

HuggyBear · 09/11/2005 21:55

My mobiles died and her number is in it!

Does anyone else have it?

Janh · 09/11/2005 21:56

I have but my phone is also dead - have just put it on charge but it won't let me in yet.

hotmama1 · 09/11/2005 21:58

Crossed fingers etc for TS - jes would hate to be in her shoes right now - really, really hope everything is O.K.

HuggyBear · 09/11/2005 21:59

Glad you have it Jan

LadySherlockofLGJ · 09/11/2005 21:59

Crazy

No apology needed, that is what this place is about, a group of women all rooting for each other. And some times wires get crossed.

Take care and sorry this brought back bad memories for you.

BudaBabe · 09/11/2005 22:00

How worrying - hope everything is OK and we are all worrying unnessecarily.

Am off to bed now (am an hour ahead of UK) but bet I will be checking all night.

Janh · 09/11/2005 22:03

Have switched my phone on (that always helps when you want it to work, doesn't it) and rung but it went straight to voicemail so I've left a message.
