It does sound a bit similar to something my DB had when he was about 7 or 8 but a much much much milder version. Something to do with the body fighting itself instead of the infection. It was called Henoch Schonline Purperra.

HuggyBear · 11/11/2005 15:09

My sister at age 6 had something that looked quite similar to what you describe, and it took ages to diagonise(sp), ended up being "Hemlock Shinline Perpura.

At one point they even told my mum she had collagens disease

i remeber that we were all out for a meal and my sister's joints were so sore she couldn't walk and had to be carried to the car, so it obviously came on really fast.

As it happens it was a very rare reaction to a very rare disease.

EXTREMLEY GLAD that your little DS is on the mend, Love to you all

kalex · 11/11/2005 16:58

Bum - should read the last messages before posting - and QV spelt it right too.

Freckle · 11/11/2005 17:04

So glad that everything is going well. Don't be too harsh on yourself. You are probably suffering from a delayed reaction to all the worry and stress.

Witchycat · 11/11/2005 18:49

Hi. Just wanted to say thank heavens everything seems ok. Have been watching the thread and didn't post because I didn't feel I could add anything but just had to say 'hooray' now.

Also don't worry about feeling mixed up & angry. You've just been through a total stress nightmare, & by the sound of it, with little support, so your emotions are bound to be all over the place. Give yourself every break going!

Glad everything is fine ts. BTW, pupura is just the term for the dotty rash, in case they didn't explain that. I had ideopathic thrombacytopaenic pupura (! sp?) in my teens and was covered in the scary rash from time to time.

crazydazy · 11/11/2005 20:58

TS so glad your DS is okay.

I apologise profusely for my posts!! I think it was just because I was so worried for your DS, knowing what I do about that horrible deadly virus and it sounded so much like meningitis that I didn't think before writing!! DP says I sometimes don't think before speaking, didn't realise I posted without thinking too!!!!

Hope he makes a speedy recovery!!!

QueenVictoria · 11/11/2005 21:09

Yep - wilbur is correct purpura means "purple spots"!

You know where we are if you need to chat.
