Hi all!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR! Just wrote a massive message to you all only for it all to be deleted! My pet hate!
Have been away since Friday and have missed mumsnet alot!
Have come back with a horribly chesty, dry cough that has been creeping up on me for over a week.Scares the hell out of me as always remember that woman who got lung cancer 25 years after stopping smoking!
How bloody depressing is that?

Mll-hope dd's eyes heal by themselves-ops are very distressing for all involved when they involve a general.

On a more positive note, finally got the results of the MRI scan I had on my knee and there is no permanent damage to my ACL,(main ligament at back of knee),so no ops needed for me in the future!

Lucy-any nearer to quitting yet?

charliecat · 08/11/2005 16:11

Wow, not more convi here? Feel like I havent posted for ages although about 24 hours is about as long as it really is
dp has stopped smoking, i think, dont want to ask but he didnt have any fags and he hasnt been out today..hmmmmmm

dropinthe · 08/11/2005 16:18

Are you keeping quiet about it cc?

charliecat · 09/11/2005 10:47

About him and his smoking...I was...then about 3 hours later he came in reeking of fags and so my thoughts that he had stopped were wrong.
This morning before hed even opened his eyes he was coughing and I couldnt help but snigger. his whole body is pleading with him to stop but that monster nicotine is controlling his brain/common sense.
Im hoping ive lured another MN on here so we can brainwash her ;)

lucycinco · 09/11/2005 10:51

Hello, good news about your knee! im still guiltly smoking and still wanting to give up. i'm going through a bad time at the moment and just havent got the energy to do it. I will do it, I want to do it but just not now. I know that there will always be excuses but I know now is not the right time. Im angry and weepy enough as it is!

MoggyMummy · 09/11/2005 11:12

Is that me CharlieCat? Three weeks off the fags now (I am admittedly using patches).

charliecat · 09/11/2005 11:14

It is you MM well done 3 weeks is good amount of time. Are you gonna stay or just lurk?!
Lucy, you have to pick a time when your strong enough to fight it. Once your at that point no excuse though ok???!!!

MoggyMummy · 09/11/2005 11:18

Ooooh - CC I think I'll do a bit of both This is my umpteenth attempt at stopping smoking. DH did it 6 months ago with great success. I tried cold turkey but I just couldn't cope (it brought on depression) - have come to the conclusion that a lifetime on patches is far better than a lifetime of cigarettes. Initially i felt like a failure becasue i didn't go cold turkey but you know now i feel very proud of myself.

charliecat · 09/11/2005 11:20

As long as you wean yourself off them. I have tryed Oh at least 200 times if not 2000 times to stop with EVERY possible gadget possible.
Some people seem to just stop and move on....Not me..Like a Living Hell lol!!

mummylonglegs · 09/11/2005 18:46

charliecat · 10/11/2005 15:59

where is everyone?

swings · 10/11/2005 19:12

Can I join your club please? You seem like such nice people ... I've been quitting on and off for most of a year now and been 'clean' for about a month ...

charliecat · 10/11/2005 19:40

Oeeerrr another new quitter, yep feel free to join us, the more the merrier We have tended to have totally gone off the subject of smoking recently and I was actually going to ask everyone how they were getting on, update on amount of time quit etc...now seems as good a time as any
Well im charliecat and i have been off the fags for nearly a year now. Am immensely proud of myself (read that as >) and have 2 dds age 4 and 7. Welcome
A little about ourselves everyone?

swings · 10/11/2005 21:49

good going charliecat! A year must seem like such an amazing achievement. As for me, I started attempting to quit this Spring and have been succeeding and failing ever since. So that means it's been about 6 months since I made the decision but only really about a month since I've been absolutely fagless. I've got one dd who's 3. And gorgeous.

charliecat · 10/11/2005 22:04

I took forever to finally get it in my thick head that stopping smoking meant not having any EVER. Kept having just 1...leading to 4 weeks worth etc etc

swings · 10/11/2005 22:05

I actually don't think I've got that completely straight in my head just yet either!

charliecat · 10/11/2005 22:10

LOL, well im sure you sort of know that one is never just one..

notasheep · 10/11/2005 22:32

charliecat,or should i say clevercat,well done you!!
I quit smoking for 3 years and started again then quit again for 18months and started again, stress was unbelievable moving house with 2 little ones.I have just had a fag,and know i must stop AGAIN and no I can do it as as you can see i have done it before.Maybe i need to join your club!

charliecat · 11/11/2005 16:38

Please do Dont know where everyones gone off to , thought mummylonglegs was gonna try and log in today......
Breaks my heart the thought of smoking after 3 years off

mummylonglegs · 12/11/2005 13:37

Hullo cc, sorry didn't log on yesterday. I have sent you a CAT actually via MN to explain why I'm not around quite so much but how I'm going to make it possible to be again soon.

Gosh, notasheep, I also once started smoking again after 2.5 years so I know what you mean. I also once stopped for a year and started again. It's so damned easy. But cc, I think you'll be fine as you're so clued up. I never was when I quit all those times. I am now.

charliecat · 12/11/2005 14:56

Looking forward to getting CAT MLL

swings · 12/11/2005 15:20

hello cc. What are you up to on this fine Saturday? We're going to take our dd to see a big fireworks display this afternoon. It's her first one. I'm hoping she won't be terrified! It's also my first cigarette-free one. I'll be there inhaling the sulphur from the fireworks ...

It IS quiet around here though isn't it?
