zanz1bar - well that is interesting. As I was trying to get pregnant all gyno avenues were explored before someone thought of doing a simple blood test by which time i was extremely ill. Maybe its a road I shouldn't bother going back down it might turn out to be more trouble.

Really hope your Thyroxine kicks in soon. It makes all the differenceSmile

can I sign in here? Diagnosed just yesterday with hyperthyroid and seeing endocrinologist on Weds, all symptoms point to Graves. I've been feeling quite ill for several months and was having investigations for something else when this arose.
I started taking carbimazole and beta-blockers yesterday and I feel really odd today. Sad

you will start to feel better buzz, your body has been running on overtime.

Hi ....had result from my thyoid test yesterday....supposedly 'normal' level of 4.2 TSH (having been 3.5 in Sept). I am feeling really crap....suffering with pins and needles.....knackered, overweight and feel 97 not 37.....am currently on 75mcg. Any tips?? How do you feel when you are similar TSH.....any answer much appreciated ;)

FooffyShmoofer · 19/02/2011 20:31

From what I remember your TSH should be between 4 and 11. This would put you at the lower end of normal. Luckily I have a GP who takes into account how I am feeling at any given time and treats it accordingly. Did you get your results over the phone or in person?

Jammygal · 19/02/2011 20:53

Over the phone ;( My area's normal level is between 3 and 6 but I feel ropey!

FooffyShmoofer · 19/02/2011 21:02

I would definitely see your GP face to face and explain how you feeling, 75mcg is clearly not enough. If you look at most on this thread with underactive the maintanance doses are mostly between 125 mcg right up to 200 mcg for some. I would be surprised if he/she didn't see fit to increase it.

Jammie so sorry gave you wrong info. Read Leonie's post and asked DH if he could remember. He said I was told that normal is between 1 and 4 and I was pushing 11 which was why I was hospitalised. So sorry.Blush Got it completely arse ways up.

Jammygal · 19/02/2011 21:34

Thanks for your replies.....so 4.2 is a bit high generally isn't it?? Although not in the eyes of the nhs ;(

This sounds a bit like me......I am tired, wild horses can't get me up in the morning!

Sometimes have heart palpitations, get breathless, perpetually cold, chronic pins and needles in hands and feet, wierd hot/cold sensations in feet, dry hair, anxiety on occasions, hot flushes, feeling wierd (sometimes sick) for no apparent reason, constipation, terrible PMT, .....does this sound familiar????
Just want to curl up and sleep even in the morning eg an hour after getting up -iron count also low (7) which doesn't help!!!
