Thanks leonie. Re iron, when i was pg i got put on iron tabs at 10 iirc

ivykaty44 · 20/02/2011 11:19

phyllium husk, just a 1/4 of a teaspoon on your eve meal - no taste and you can buy form the health shop - this will make your bowels move well.

Please make sure you are not going to be somewhere without a loo the following day and do not under any circumstances use more than a 1/2 teaspoon in one go.

This is a natuaral product and will help with bloating and moving things along.

I add just a little to my eve meal so things a moved slowly but well in the morning.

This is also used for lowering cholestral.

You must drink plenty of water if you use the husks

Edie - thanks for the 'block and replace' info definitely not for me I struggle to remember to take the ones I have already!

Ivy - I am definitely heading for hypo and can feel myself crisping up as I type and the exhaustion can't be explained with the usual - 'new baby tiredness' as DD is sleping through 6 nights out of 7. I have an appointment in 10 days when I am going to request a drop to 300 of PTU (same as 30 of carb) and see if it improves.

ivykaty44 · 20/02/2011 19:11

well I stuck my HRM and my heart is beating between 51-61 when I lay on the bed for half an hour midday Shock No wonder I am sleeping like a log..and don't want to stir in the morning

Katy, yes went from 40mg to 20 as I came down so quickly. Think it would depend on how effective the carb as on the individuals levels. Hope you get your bloods back soon. I'd put money on you being hypo. But hopefully you havn't went down too much. It only took me a few weeks to com back up to a 'normal' level.

ivykaty44 · 20/02/2011 20:19

eddie - what was your t4 at its highest - if you don't mind saying. Mine was 67 back in 13th december and then by 17th jan just over a month later was 26, so another month down the line and I think there is no more thyroxine left in my body at all.

They had to leave the carb at 40mg - I was told this two three weeks ago as I am not taking beta blockers due to reaction with asthma and they wanted to make sure my heart rate came right down beofre lowering the does of carb

Katy I'm sorry but I just don't remember the levels, I find them all a bit confusing tbh. Sorry I cant be of more help

ivykaty44 · 20/02/2011 20:52

leonie - that's what I was figuring with my heart rate being so low. Even when fit my heart rate at rest first thing in the morning would be at best 58. So to be as low as 51 in the middle of the day when having a lye down is to low

hi, I posted upthread about taking carb and beta blockers since a few days ago...does anyone know if its normal for the palpitations etc to get worse before/instead of you getting better? My heart beat is jumping around all over the place and I feel like something is sitting on my chest. Sad

ivykaty44 · 20/02/2011 21:41

Buzz have you taken your pulse? try taking your pulse for a whole minute in your neck rather than your wrist and come back and tell us how it is?

OP posts:
BuzzLiteBeer · 20/02/2011 21:51

OK I think its about 100 bpm, is that normal?

scottishmummy911 · 20/02/2011 22:02

The carbimazole take some time to work but the beta blockers should work quickly I think. I have been hyper 3 times over the last 10 years and the docs are expecting it to come back sometime soon as I gave birth 10 weeks ago. Sorry can't be more precise but I only had the beta blockers the first time which was a long time ago!

buzz mine stayed at around 100 bpm for the first week on beta blockers, then after three weeks was down slowly to around 60bpm. Then I came off the beta blockers and it went straight back up to around 100bpm as the three weeks worht of carb were starting to work so keeping my pulse at 100 without the beta blockers

it could be that your heart rate is now much more noticeable than it was before and this is why you are sensing what is happening.

Don't worry about it though as that will make the rate go up. Even lifting your arm or standing up will make the heart pump faster and this is why you may feel it is irratic
