Hurrah!i went last night, after not having been for 3 weeks! ran for 25mins did a few weights and a bit on the swiss ball, hated every minute and my knee hurts again today, but as my trousers are feeling tight again I must go a bit more frequently!!

MABS · 28/10/2005 10:06

Screwy - I tend to do a full on gym session and then a v gentle 15-15 lap swim while I gaze longingly at the spa counting the minutes til i can get in it!

Cam · 28/10/2005 19:13

puff · 30/10/2005 11:54

Finally got back in the gym on Friday and it was fine - 15 mins on a bike and 25 mins on the crosstrainer, plus weights work. Hoping to go again this evening.

Cam · 30/10/2005 15:58

Glad you're better Puff, I'll be doing a proper w/out tomorrow evening

HAvent been to gym since last post but did do a 4 mile bike ride. am hoping to go to gym tomorrow night... will let you know!

puff · 31/10/2005 15:51

Went again Sunday - and did same time on crosstrainer, bike etc. Think I might look at changing my routine - try out some different machines.

Passionkiller · 31/10/2005 16:15

Hi all,

sorry I haven't been on-line all week, computer got kidnapped and taken on a business trip again.

Was really pleased with myself until this morning though cos I managed to keep up the gym routine despite half term. DH grumbled that he had to spend Friday night in front of the TV on his own though. "Ha ha", I replied, "welcome to my life!".

Think I must be going down with a cold though because when I went to do my workout this morning I just wilted and felt like death. and I've aquired a sore thought during the day.

Must I really really not go to the gym at all with a cold?

Cam · 31/10/2005 19:40

No you musn't. It will make you feel far worse and you will take longer to get better. It helpd to remeber you're going to the gym to feel fitter not ill.

I went for a big swim this evening.

Cam's right - I didn't go for 2 weeks until I really felt better, didn't seem to affect my fitness luckily.

Hope you feel better soon.

Passionkiller · 31/10/2005 20:41

Ok, I will be a good girl and not go on wednesday unless I feel 100% all day tomorrow. It's so frustrating though isn't it?

puff · 31/10/2005 20:44

I know, but I also realise I would have felt 10 times worse if I'd gone to the gym when I was under the weather. It is a drag though - I felt stiff because I wasn't going, but feel great now I've done a couple of sessions in the last few days.

FauxVampire · 31/10/2005 20:48

I agree, drives you mad. Is it too late to drive it away by having a sauna?

My personal trainer rang me tonight to ask when he'd see me again. Are they trained in the art of seduction? Was tempted to ask why he wasn't out trick or treating with his mum. (However, I did arrange to see him tomorrow.)

Passionkiller · 31/10/2005 21:17

Does sauna really make it go away? Am feeling fine mostly, just felt all week and poo while working out and have slightly sore throat atm.

FauxVampire · 31/10/2005 22:12

Yes, my understanding is that if you have a sauna/steam room early on enough, the germs can be killed off by the hot steam. I have found this works in practice, too, but you have to be quick off the mark and not let the bug take hold. I also do stuff like take Vit c, eat raw garlic and onion - so should really sauna alone But it does work if done in time.

Passionflower · 01/11/2005 10:53

Thanks FV will give it a go.

Well, he appears to have uncovered muscles in my legs I didn't know I had until today - how can that be, that I've been exercising like mad, and not even touching those muscles? Anyway, all credit to him, he obviously knows his stuff. More boxing stuff today, plus lots of work on the gym ball and some lunges. One of the latter two got to the legs I reckon. I feel really healthy

mrspink27 · 02/11/2005 15:18

been to the gym today! but got summoned to get my dd2 from the creche where she wa screaming the place down... its an ongoing problem.... but hate only going in the evening

Passionflower · 02/11/2005 16:29

Have decided to take this week off after Mondays disasterous effort.

I went for a sauna and spa pool instead this morning, I don't think it's killed the cold but it was a lovely treat.

puff · 02/11/2005 21:56

You are being sensible Passionflower .

Passionflower · 03/11/2005 13:00

Cold much worse today I hope I'll be better by Monday.

screwyslittlefirecrackers · 03/11/2005 19:10

Hope your feeling better soon Passionflower

I haven't been able to go swimming for ages due to dh shifts or hapkido. Gonna stop hapkido as it starts at 6 and I pick up kids at 5 it means I don't really get to them and end up really stressed and them just picking up and dropping off.
I don't start till 10am in the morning so am dropping the kids off at 8 and have squeezed in quik gym workouts 3 times this week as the gym is on site.

Passionflower · 04/11/2005 14:29

A bit better today ta, slfc. Also DH is taking a sicky (he crawled in at 3.30am so I don't have to trail DD's 2 & 3 on the school and ballet runs today so am feeling much more chill than usual
