Farage has been clear that this election is about building a base - getting a reasonable % of the vote.

13 seats would be a massive result considering he was previously forecast to get half that at most. He will be over the moon.

Going through those seat predictions by constituency, its looking fairly where I'd put the result.

I also agree with this.

After 5 years of Labour, their vote share is unlikely to remain as high as this. Given the volatile nature of uk politics in recent years, it could mean that Farage is well placed to become the official opposition then.

Thats where they become a credible force.

Farage will be happy tonight.

Still looking to be a Tory stronghold in my constituency. Urgh.

HappierTimesAhead · 04/07/2024 22:38

Speaking on ITV, former SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon says she believes the results of the exit poll will turn out to be "broadly right".
"This is not a good night for the SNP on those numbers," she says. "This is at the grimmer end of the expectations for the SNP, if the exit poll is right."

Nicola's working really hard for her money there and speaking as though she wasn't leader just over a year ago 😂

Ashford
Clacton
Boston & Skegness

Are expected to be the key Reform seats, I would expect the other likely seats will be in the same vicinity.

Also the channel 4 line up is inspired. I think Dorries and Campbell might end up coming to blows. Glorious.

I'm wondering if Dorries has been slipping voddy into her water.

Is there a breakdown by constituency anywhere? That these are based on?

The BBC did it on tv, but i've not found a breakdown by constituency online yet.

This. ^ Some people on here are going batshit and loco over 13 seats ... Big deal, some people supported Reform, so what? People are entitled to views that are not left wing and centric. A few people are just utterly aghast and so pearl-clutchy that anyone thinks differently to them!

Edited

Sorry but I think you need to educate yourself! Reform are predicted to get more seats than the Lib Dems did last time around. It’s looking like they will scoop a significant share of the vote and this could potentially grow if people get dissatisfied with labour. They could also encourage the tories to lurch to the right or even worse join forces and possibly get in next time.

Of course people are entitled to vote however they like, but to pretend it’s irrelevant is ignorant.

DoAhhDiddy · 04/07/2024 22:39

Dread to think it's the red wall voting Reform and not traditional Tory heartlands although I think they will achieve a high vote share in working class areas. It's a disturbing prospect but then I guess trust in democracy is at a massive low so not entirely surprising

Guessing great Yarmouth too.

gingercat02 · 04/07/2024 22:39

Reform at 13 seats would be horrific, but I can see the brexiteers who voted Tory "to get Brexit done!" who were traditional Labour voters feel they have nowhere else to go.

Maybe because they know what a woman is.

What that Reform think a woman belongs in the kitchen?

Morishe · 04/07/2024 22:40

I’m watching on itv, but is bbc better?

Perhaps because we aren't being short sighted about this.

If the exit poll is remotely accurate, witj that number of seats and that percentage of the vote share, there is no way that politic won't be changed in some way in the future. That is a huge chunk of the public that are VERY angry.

As an immigrant I am quite scared right now, and what I really don't want is people sneering and dismissing what a threat this represents to immigrants in the UK.

Sure, celebrate this election. It is the next one that I am worried about.

Maybe because they know what a woman is.

Stupid comment. They are racist, misogynistic and homophobic. How are they good news for women in any way?

StarDolphins · 04/07/2024 22:41

if Reform do get the predicted seats, it might make Labour take note. That’s a lot of people voting for them.

The countryside will now be turned into concrete. We’ll have to pay to drive anywhere near a town centre & immigration will be off the scale. I hope KS has a lot of money for housing, NHS & dentistry as he’ll need it!

Great news for animals though!

YaWeeFurryBastard · 04/07/2024 22:41

HungryLittleCrocodile · 04/07/2024 22:13

Funny as in Farage was convinced he was going to be the opposition, and get 150+ seats or something. He got a shitty 13 seats!

Absolute nonsense 😂. Reform have way outperformed expectations so unfortunately I suspect Farage is rather happy.

SeriaMau · 04/07/2024 22:42

OneOfThoseOldFashionedWomen · 04/07/2024 22:27

Yes , that is the reason people are voting reform.

Honestly I despair sometimes

*No I didn't vote Reform

A direct quote from a Reform activist. Not sure despair is the word I would use.
Learn from history so that it doesn’t repeat itself.

Rather him than the Tories who put us in this mess in the first place.

Quite so. I've spoiled my ballot on account of women's rights, but would rather have drunk hydrochloric acid than vote for those racist bastards.

Apparently my FiL has. I've got serious issues with this.

Rainbow1901 · 04/07/2024 22:43

Tom Bradby is acting like an over excited school boy running on a Duracell bunnys' batteries. He is being so irritating - why ask Nicola Sturgeon about how it felt when you first knew that you had won your seat or entered some great political building?
Might just take a quick look at the other channels to see if they are being a bit more pragmatic and adult about the election progress.
