Peter Bottomley has lost in West Worthing.

murasaki · 05/07/2024 04:52

In fact its ten to five. I should go back to bed.**

Hotcuppatea · 05/07/2024 04:52

Me too. Even Penny Mordant who said 'democracy is never wrong'.

This is exactly how the transfer of power should happen.

well Labour booked Tate Modern. I'd like to see sunrise from Tate Modern (delirium setting in)

Agreed. Maybe I'm too tired but felt a bit emotional at Jeremy Hunts speech (and I'm no fan!)

Absolutely. He made a good point about the NHS too.

They should have recommissioned the initial turbine hall exhibit with the massive sun where you lay on the floor and basked in it. That was great.

I'm surprised he was allowed on the stage.

Given that it was Rishi's seat, I suspect the electoral staff knew that it would have live cameras on him, so thought it might be less disruptive to ignore him rather than interrupt the speech. A lot of media feeds I saw looked as if they went in close to try and crop out the sign.

Not a Rishi fan, but it pissed me off as it's hugely disrespectful to all of the candidates, the staff there and most importantly all of the constituents that have voted. The least he could have done was stand still and behave for 20 minutes.

God people have short memories! He was the health minister and over the NHS!

DramaLlamaBangBang · 05/07/2024 04:56

One of the few things about our constitutional democracy that makes me proud to be British is election day/night. I just love watching the events unfolding, the effort put in by so many prople to makecit work on the night, and, yes the speeches. Rishi Sunak acceptance speech and conceding of the election seemed a pointed dig at Trump, saying the transfer of power will be calm and dignified, as it should be.

blackcherryconserve · 05/07/2024 04:58

Think I'm going to have some breakfast and then go to bed!

SabrinaThwaite · 05/07/2024 04:59

crowgift · 05/07/2024 05:00
