Ed Davey as Leader of the Opposition is SO CLOSE

The final MRP poll from Survation puts the Lib Dems and Tories within a gnat's whisker of each other.

Sam Freedman says:
'“If any doubt arises as to which is or was at any material time the party in opposition to Her Majesty’s Government having the greatest numerical strength in the House of Commons, or as to who is or was at any material time the leader in that House of such a party, the question shall be decided for the purposes of this Act by the Speaker of the House of Commons, and his decision, certified in writing under his hand, shall be final and conclusive.”

So if one party is clearly ahead then their leader is LOTO. But if it’s more complex - say, the Tories won 75 seats and the Lib Dems 73, and then two Alliance MPs from Northern Ireland said they’d sit with the Lib Dems - well the Speaker will have to get involved and make a call.'

The thought of the Tories losing so badly that they don't even get to be the official party of opposition is within our grasp.

I've heard that the Lib Dems now think they have a chance of winning places like Witney where they didn't think they had a hope at the start.

https://tactical.vote tells you who to vote for to get the Tories out and make them irrelevant.

He has also had a recorded zoom conversation with Russian fraudsters where he thought he was speaking to Gary Kasparov and said some very inappropriate comments about trans/sexual issues, including that he was happy to arrange for condoms, sex toys, lube and sex toy cleaning products to be sent to Ukrainian gay soldiers who he claimed to have had conversations with and they had asked him for these items. He said we are heading for having a trans PM soon and advocated for the promotion of transgenderism in schools.

Lol. Does he have intel that Keir Starmer is about to come out as a trans woman? Or has he been taking too much of whatever he was on that night he drove his car into a tree?

noblegiraffe · 03/07/2024 23:13

brought out schools guidance saying that gender identity theory should be taught as a contested belief rather than fact

They brought in schools guidance that said that children should be taught gender identity and recommended Stonewall as a source of information and lesson plans.

They have not, after years of delays, brought in guidance for schools about how to deal with gender confused children. There was a draft out for consultation but who knows what will happen now. They left schools to scrabble around and make up their own rules, and teach what the Tories told them to teach, then utterly slated them for doing so.

They created the mess that has happened in schools, blamed it on schools, and have not fixed it but instead used it to whip up a culture war when it appeared to be to their political advantage.

Fuck them.

Wouldn't it be lovely to listen to pmqs, where Davey says something like " I press the pm on what he intends to do to help carers " and then pm replied with "I'm glad my honourable friend asks. I intend to do xyz. And I encourage him to come on board and use his experience to advise us on that subject".

As a long standing watcher of pmqs (yes I understand why some would think that masochistic) I'd love to hear proper questions and answers.

Fuck them indeed.

It's just a shame that the alternatives are all parties who think the Tories didn't go far enough down the gender rabbit hole.

Fuck them all.

Isn't it interesting though that as well as being raped by a gay man he had formed a relationship with online, and crashing his car into a tree and leaving the site of an accident because he had PTSD, and being blackmailed about his sexuality , he is also apparently a trans woman who wants to talk to Gary Kasparov about sex toys, lube, cleaning products and condoms for homosexual Ukraine soldiers on the front line- who have contacted him about this issue.

Talk about red flags but he was welcomed by the Tories.

Oh come on. You've got reform, SDP, party of women, communist party of great Britain, lots of independents. Pretty sure the DUP will be on board with anti-"gender rabbit hole".
No need to spoil votes over the one issue.

The only one of those on my ballot paper was Reform and I wasn't about to vote for them for obvious reasons.

I am certain that if gender is an important issue for people they will express that in their votes today. And then we can agree what the "will of the people" is and therefore never be allowed to discuss it again?

@MissScarletInTheBallroom

But it is a sad indictment of the state of the country that people are so fed up with the Tories that the man who says women can have penises looks like the best candidate for prime minister.

You are being utterly disingenuous with this statement, and you keep repeating it in as many posts as you possibly can. You know this is misinformation, so why are you doing it?

It's not misinformation. Keir Starmer said 99.9% of women don't have a penis. That means he thinks some women do. And Ed Davey expressly stated that he thinks a woman can have a penis. Insane.

That's not how democracy works. You've lived through Brexit and the Scottish independence referendum so you should know that's not how it works.

I am very pleased that tomorrow we will have a Prime Minister who knows what the law says, rather than the one who is leaving who doesn't seem to think it applies to him and is happy to break it.

Rejoice!

But the winners particularly if it is as much as 52% can enact the will of the people and screw the country, we know that is how it works.

The law is an ass, because the incoming Prime Minister's party made it so the last time they were in power.

Grantshappsotherusrnames · 04/07/2024 07:07

So we might have a LOTO tomorrow as well as Prime Minister who believe in the rule of law.

You know that that the .1% refers to transwomen who have a GRC. Legally, they are 'women', but they are not biological women. Keir Starmer is a lawyer and was making a legal statement.

Your repeated statements are simply incorrect.

So if Labour pass a new law next week allowing me to be legally recognised as a cat, will I actually be a cat?

Or will they just have passed a nonsense law?

noblegiraffe · 04/07/2024 07:13

One might wonder why the Tories did nothing about it with the 14 years they've had in power, if they are so hot on this issue as people claim.

That’s the question that’s constantly asked and answer comes there none. Equally there’s an inability to explain why, when all the examples of how women’s rights have been eroded happened under a Tory government, the answer is more of the same.
