Middle class biological women prepare to be relegated to being second class citizens by the end of the week

The Labour Party is expected to win a huge majority in the GE on Thursday. My fears are their stance on trans rights which are being prioritised over those of biological women and this will risk our safety, opportunities and dignity. I also work in the NHS and read what is happening to the nurses in Darlington with horror.

My other concern is they have not been transparent on their plans on how to raise money for their spending pledges other than say they will invest and reap the benefit of green technology. This is not going to happen in the foreseeable future. I can only conclude we will be taxed even more but stealthy.

Then I read this in their manifesto:
‘Expansion of the Equality Act 2010Labour will implement the socioeconomic protected characteristic of the Equality Act, also the socioeconomic duty under Section 1 of the Equality Act and ensure equality impact assessments of government policy are conducted.5 Jun 2024’
To me this means richer areas will get less money from government for public services than poorer areas. I live in an area which is very boringly middle class but our public services are already cut to the bone(bin collections fortnightly, potholes left for months, all adult evening classes gone) but we still pay a hefty amount of council tax.

So under a Labour government I as a biological woman, working in the NHS on the frontline and will be expected to share our women’s changing rooms with any man with a GRC. I will probably be taxed more as a higher rate taxpayer because the tax bands have stayed static for years and I will expect less public services because I live in the suburbs but my council taxes will most likely increase just to sustain what we already have

Me neither

Tbh Labour doesn't need your votes!

BotDranning · 01/07/2024 11:44

I agree OP. I won't be voting Labour. I have 2 daughters. Late teens. This all really worries me.

GingerPirate · 01/07/2024 11:42

BS.
I cannot be relegated to more of a second or third or fourth class citizen than we all were, back
at sweet home of a Communist country.
Hopefully Reform will make a proper mess in the henhouse.
😁

Reform UK PLC will win a paltry few seats. Their MPs will make Gullis look like a political Titan.

Then no need to worry about her post, is there.

GingerPirate · 01/07/2024 11:46

Oh well, then we are Fcked, aren't we?
Oh wait....😂

OrangeCrushes · 01/07/2024 11:48

As a middle class woman, I find your selfishness completely staggering.

Here's hoping the Tories really are on their way out.

Actually I do worry about women who genuinely fear that a Labour government will harm them. I feel the same way about a Tory government. It is not a nice feeling.

I don't think Labour are planning to erase biological women, though. We shall see.

Startingagainandagain · 01/07/2024 11:52

Don't be daft...

You don't speak on behalf of all women and all the scare-mongering threads about tax and Labour on this site are really getting desperate.

I am a middle-class, homeowner and a biological woman and I can't wait to see Labour in power and the back of the Tories, who by the way are the ones who increased the tax burden to record high.

I'm in the unenviable position of feeling it about all the available options.

newnamenellie · 01/07/2024 10:47

It's not 'anti Labour crap'.

I've always been a Labour voter but am seriously wavering now, and this is down to their ridiculous stance on women's rights and women only spaces.

You voted for Jeremy Corbyn. Twice! But you're worried about Labour now?😵‍💫

UpThePankhurst · 01/07/2024 11:54

I completely concur OP. The more Labour talk about this, the more patronising, sexist and authoritarian they become, and this is BEFORE they expect me to vote for them, when it's all supposedly charm and soft soap and don't frighten the horses. So when the gloves come off, God only knows what it'll be like.

Sossijiz · 01/07/2024 11:55

What exactly have the Tories done about these issues during their decade and a half in power? And why is it only middle-class women you are worried about?

No one ever answers that question.

Echobelly · 01/07/2024 11:56

I'm sure all men who go into women's spaces to assault them will be good boys and stop doing it if they're told they can't do it while dressed as or saying they're a woman. And they'll never assault anyone again because they can't come into contact with women anywhere else. Sorry to be snarky but I can't see how these unenforceable rules to attempt to tackle a tiny proportion of assaults will have any effect.

Improving policing resources around VAWG would be far more valuable and not have blow-back negative effects such as women getting harrassed or maybe assaulted because someone decides they are not a woman in the loos or changing room.

VeloHostage · 01/07/2024 11:58

I've spent all my life being treated as a second class citizen. More so these past 14 years.

Not really sure what the point of the OP is ? Tory shit tastes better than Labour shit ?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/07/2024 11:58

It would be better than the current situation, @Echobelly where everyone is telling these men they are fine to ignore what women think about it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/07/2024 11:59

Also, it's not about whether they actually assault women, it's an issue of basic respect for women and girls, most of whom prefer female only spaces.

ThirdSpaceFan1 · 01/07/2024 12:01

Maybe we should organise a massive protest and all us biological middle class women should self declare as men. It would cause mayhem!

Like that census when 400,000 declared their religion was Jedi , but with a more serious intent.

I agree Op but I simply cannot vote Tory. Hopefully Labour will hear common sense before it’s too late.

They did this:
https://amp.theguardian.com/society/2017/oct/18/theresa-may-plans-to-let-people-change-gender-without-medical-checks

Then they wrote genderwoo into loads of guidance and laws.
Reported women o the police for retweeting JKR.
Repeatedly put TWAW zealots at the head of Education.
Appointed the world's first Trans MP to Women and Equalities Commision.
Took money from the head of Stonewall.
Payed Stonewall a fortune to push a TRA agenda training to our public bodies.
Tried to lie and gaslight us with bollocks like at least the Tories know what a woman is.
Put male sex offenders into prison to sexually assault the women there.
Refused to fix any of it.
Refused to say that only women have a cervix.

I'm sure they did other stuff too. Make no mistake, the Tories have wrecked things for women in the UK. Their trans shitshow was just one part of that.🤷‍♀️

The Tories hate women. I can't wait to see the back of them.

Also, it's not about whether they actually assault women, it's an issue of basic respect for women and girls, most of whom prefer female only spaces.

Lack of respect for women and girls is systemic.

Look at the current rape convictions in the UK and the women in poverty working full time and using foodbanks. Women who can't get affordable childcare or access to decent maternity services.

Women in zero contract jobs, women who work for the severely underfunded public sector. Women who have no support as carers. Women who can't get child support or who are forced into contact with abusive men through a misogynistic court system.

Women affected by cuts to child benefit and the benefit cap. Women in abusive relationships who can't access refuges or afford to leave. Women who have no mental health support, no support for disabled children and no respite.

Don't those women count?

Hummingbird75 · 01/07/2024 12:19

I think it will be awful for all women and girls, including baby girls that have to grow up in this horrendously toxic place with no rights or protection.

AutumnCrow · 01/07/2024 12:21

JustAnotherPoster00 · 01/07/2024 11:41

Ah the usual Tory shill-esque thread about trans woman's rights, Labour say they'll have sex based exemptions for certain spaces but that's not good enough because some imaginary nonsense that the usual suspects suggest its going to be Gilead by the 5th of July while simultaneously ignoring all the harms done and continue to be done to woman and children by this Tory government, at least be honest hold your heads up high and say fuck poor women you intended to vote Tory anyway 🙄

Labour say they'll have sex based exemptions for certain spaces

The value of that statement depends entirely on how Starmer and his Cabinet are defining 'female sex'. He has already said he will include males in that. Rayner is on that page with him.

They will also make it easier for men to be able to tell this big lie, and harder for women to object to it.

Hummingbird75 · 01/07/2024 12:22

The conservatives - like the whole of the western world was sucked into the trans cult for a while - they absolutely were - and made changes accordinly, but at least they woke up!! They realised it was activism, they have since been very pro women and have been bringing in single sex legislation.

ALL of the other parties, Labour, Lib Dems and Greens are still drinking the trans cool aid, and they have no intention of stopping. Labour particularly have been under so much pressure, they would have understood by now if they were going to.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/07/2024 12:25

Of course they count @cupcaske123. I'm not saying the Tories are a good option either. I also don't believe Labour will improve life for working class women. I'm from a working class background myself. I've been on unemployment benefits at several times in my life. I joined the Labour Party in 2015 precisely because apart from Corbyn the options for the leadership, and Milliband, weren't interested in improving welfare. So yes, I joined to vote in Corbyn. Not my finest hour. I left the party over their complete disregard for women and our rights. I haven't changed my opinion.

I actually despair if people genuinely believe that the continuation of governance by this bunch of corrupt , immoral criminals would be any better than a labour government. Yes they have said the right things about the trans issue but they have also fucked over women on so many other issues!
The propaganda being disseminated on this site in the run up to this election is unreal!!

What is astonishing is the number of otherwise intelligent women apparently falling for it all.
