Just that really.

Which party do you think needs to get enough seats be in opposition and hold a Labour government to account?

So what's your answer then?

Vote for the people who are being completely open about how much contempt they have for women instead?

We don't all have the luxury of spoiling our ballot. We have to live here, so sometimes you just have to vote for the best of a bad bunch.

For the sake of women and the UK we have to get the Tories out and that's not going to happen if we all spoil our ballots.

verdantverdure · 28/06/2024 20:52

I did the vote for policies quiz and looked up the tactical vote for my constituency and made my decision based on all the issues combined with who can beat the Tory in our constituency.

I couldn't vote for the guys who have more or less legalised rape and who are releasing stalkers and domestic abusers early from jail.

A Rejoin EU referendum isn't on offer so I have voted on all the other issues, for a functional country.

What else am I going to do. Pick up my ball and go home?

Leave it to other people to get the stories out?

The Lib Dems are the worst of a bad bunch.

In a field that includes Reform, the DUP and the guys who have made rape basically legal that is a nonsensical statement @MissScarletInTheBallroom Grin

Some of us think hating women is just as bad as hating immigrants and believing humans can change sex is just as nuts as believing in creationism.

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/06/2024 21:09

Who do you recommend women vote for @MissScarletInTheBallroom?

Some of us think hating women is just as bad as hating immigrants and believing humans can change sex is just as nuts as believing in creationism.

And some of us want functional public services so we won’t vote for the party that hates poor people and thinks foodbanks are a good thing.

It's genuinely astonishing that you think these nutters might deliver functional public services.

Well that is the million dollar question, isn't it?

There is no good option for women.

So what do you suggest we women do with our hard won right to vote @MissScarletInTheBallroom?

It’s not really. I’m old enough to remember 1997 to 2010 before the current nutters took over.

verdantverdure · 28/06/2024 21:15

Which nutters @MissScarletInTheBallroom?

Well, any of them really but especially the Lib Dems.

People seem to have forgotten that they wound up in a coalition government on the back of the student vote and a pledge to abolish tuition fees, then voted to treble tuition fees three months later and spent the next five years supporting Cameron's austerity programme. They then got wiped out at the next election which enabled Cameron to get a majority and call the EU referendum, then spent the next few years bleating ineffectually about remaining in the EU, and once they finally accepted that game was over they decided to focus almost wholly on insane identity politics and calling women bigots for not believing in the female penis.

I have voted for them in nearly every general election since I was old enough to vote but never again.

So am I.

Very few current Labour politicians were in the government under Tony Blair or Gordon Brown, and, obviously, no Lib Dems were.

One might ask what the relevance of the 1997-2010 government is to your belief that a completely different group of people will deliver functional public services.

You can do what you like with yours.

But I wrote to my Lib Dem candidate to express my concerns about women's rights and the medicalisation of trans identifying children and he didn't reply, so I'd rather set fire to mine than use it to vote for him.

And I am voting in one of the constituencies mentioned in this thread.

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/06/2024 21:40

People haven't forgotten anything @MissScarletInTheBallroom. We remember who's been in government for 14 years and are living with the consequences.

The Tories wrecked the country. They wrecked women's rights. They have to go and we're all doing our own wee bit to get them out. Are you one of those people who find a problem for every solution? I had a husband like that.😒 One of my friends has those tendencies too, but she's aware it's an issue and tries to curb it.

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/06/2024 21:43

Anyway, we're talking about the Opposition on this thread. I get that you dont want the Libdems, Labour or Tories in government, who do you think should be the Opposition?

The Lib Dems were also in government for the first five of those years! Their actual track record of being in government is appalling and in the last few years they've become nuttier than squirrel shit.

If the Lib Dems are anywhere near government, letting more men into women's changing rooms is just about the only thing that will actually get done. Any change worth having would cost money that doesn't exist and require a level of intelligence and talent that no one in politics today seems to have.

The Tories, I guess.

I know they won't get enough seats but honestly Farage would be best to hold Starmer to account.

I don't believe they will get any seats.
