Labour Party and gender

Mobley52 · 25/06/2024 20:34

I've seen quite a few threads where people have said they would not vote for Labour because of their stance on gender.

Would somebody be able to explain in simple terms why this is please

Many thanks

I only hear you calling out people like Kellie-Jay Keen for it.

I have seen zero outrage from you about all the myriad ways in which gender critical women are discriminated against, abused, assaulted and so on, despite claiming to be gender critical yourself.

Kellie-Jay Keen has been assaulted by trans activists. A woman in her company was violently assaulted and hospitalised. The violent trans activists were then praised by the prime minister of the country in which the assaults took place. Kellie-Jay Keen had to leave the country due to fears for her own safety and the woman who was hospitalised was denied any kind of justice.

I have no doubt that this, and other similar incidents, has influenced Kellie-Jay Keen's views about whether she would want to employ or let a property to anyone from the "rainbow community" (as Chris Hipkins put it).

I call it out for what it is all of the time. It's disgusting hatred towards women. Anytime i see it or hear it, i call it out. I've never said that it doesn't happen because i don't have my head buried in the sand.

KJK should be called out as a prominent voice in the debate who is actively going against what many who hold GC views say/believe. Most 'GC' want single sex spaces protected but don't agree with some of KJK views.

No-one should be assaulted, i agree.

she does claim to be GC.
and exactly, but as i've said when someone is a massive voice in that circle then it should be called out,

Nigel Farage is nothing but a rabble rouser, not "the political establishment", and Kemi Badenoch and Rishi Sunak are both members of a government under which trans activism has been allowed to run rampant until very recently. So yes.

Nigel Farage is the epitome of the "political establishment".

I'm not sure why you are discounting him. Maybe because you haven't been paying attention or maybe because it suits you to believe he's not "part of the elite".

Sunak and Badenoch have been telling everyone for the last few years "a woman is a woman" and pushing the "at least the Tories know what a woman is" line. I doubt many people think they've been protecting trans people.

Who is Nigel Farage?

Whatever the rights and wrongs of Nigel Farage having his elite bank account cancelled, let’s remember who he actually is

You do know Hitler wasn't vegetarian though? 😂

Well it was quite long.

But to summarise, I said that whilst I agree with Kellie-Jay Keen on one issue and disagree with her about a lot of other things, I don't think that anyone should have to specifically denounce her other views any more than vegetarians should have to specifically state that they don't agree with Hitler's other viewpoints.

And also that I'd think about specifically denouncing Kellie-Jay Keen's other views if everyone who says that TWAW agrees to specifically denounce all the unacceptable behaviour of people associated with the TQ+ movement, which there is an awful lot of.

Not sure what broke the rules.

Maybe the Hitler point? i don't know what else would have triggered MNHQ really, none of it seemed worthy of deleting really.

but onto this point:

i do and will continue to do this. i see a lot who do, i do see less of the KJK/GC lot denouncing her extreme views.

I certainly haven't seen the Labour party do it. As for the Lib Dems....forget it.

It would be weird if it was the Hitler part. I would have thought the point I was making was obvious, which is that agreeing with someone about one thing doesn't create a rebuttable presumption you are politically aligned with them.

i'm only assuming it was that bit, not that i thought it was worthy of being banned. I understood your point on it. I just disagreed considering she is a very vocal GC and one of the more visible people within the movement so it's not easy to distance GC views from hers at times.

I think maybe the bit about double standards, potentially?

That’s if you follow her on SM

I don’t

‘a very vocal GC’ doesn’t make much sense. Women are that first not ‘a GC’

but not all in the movement are women so...
i said what i said and i stand by it. Her views are extreme and hatred and yet the GC who follow her aren't pulling her up on it, we should all be pulling up anyone who holds extreme views as it damages the cause.

i don't follow her on SM, i've had to now mute her names on X like i have Andrew Tate as seeing others talking about them is too much hatred for me.

I’d rather focus on politics which is where policy happens than all the time pp invest in KJK

Ok, well in that case we don't have to worry about the influence of people such as Andrew Tate as he's not in politics?
Its not an either or! We should be holding all to account especially those with large followings. If only the politicians were the only ones we needed to hold to account but hatred online has been so normalised and it's gross.

I’m not on there at all and have zero need to talk about that person

They demand we focus on KJK precisely to detract from discussion about people who are making public policy. This will be even more the case after Labour win on Thursday.

i'm also very vocal about the government but am happy to not ignore one issue to only highlight another.

i'll be happily focusing on keeping the new government to account as of Friday =.

Yes there is this thing called working in social media which kind of necessitates being on the platform. I wish it wasn't true but alas, gotta deal with Elon's vanity project.
