The Party of Women

If you have a representative of "The Party of Women" standing in your constituency, give them a wide birth.
I had the misfortune to encounter a representative at the local hustings this afternoon. I'm about to put in a complaint to the police - several were present, but did nothing to intervene and stop the transphobic hate speech.
I's outrageous that they should be allowed to call themselves "The Party of Women" (presumably hoping to pick up votes by misleading people unto thinking they're The Women's Equality Party") they certainly don't speak for me.

This is the first thing in ages that I've seen as a potential red flag against PR.

I am a Left Wing gender critical feminist.

I was politically homeless.

Thank fuck I have a Party of Women candidate standing in my constituency. She has my vote.

The only reason I'm not voting for them is because sadly there isn't a representative of them standing in my constituency

Can I ask why you're happy to vote for someone who is advising employers not to employ trans people and landlords not to give them accommodation?

Is there a reason you think trans people should not be entitled to work or to have somewhere to live?

Can I ask why trans people want access to women’s hard fought spaces? Why don’t they fight for their own spaces?

ResisterRex · 23/06/2024 20:15

Was it this hustings OP?

So you advocate wholesale discrimination on the basis of mental health as well?

Honestly it's eye-opening to see people spout this bile isn't it.

Don’t be ridiculous. So they could refuse to employ women of child bearing age, gay or lesbian people, people from ethnic minorities, people over 50 years old. You genuinely think that is ok?

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/06/2024 20:19

I’ve not heard of them. I’ll get my coat …😁

@suggestionsplease1 I agree - KJK’s comments in that clip are highly offensive.

I still wouldn’t want the police silencing a candidate - any candidate- at a hustings.

And the OP still hasn’t returned to tell us what this particular candidate (who may or may not have been KJK) said was so offensive.

Any candidate? Really?

Anyone can stand as a candidate.

Surely you must have a line?

When Abu Hamza was promoting racial hatred against non-muslims do you think he should have been free to carry on because of free speech?

Motorina · 23/06/2024 20:24

@suggestionsplease1 my line is here: https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/our-guidance/candidate-or-agent

Do you have a problem with that?

suggestionsplease1 · 23/06/2024 20:25

If Kellie Jay Keen had been promoting discrimination against lesbians in employment and accomodation do you think lesbians might feel they'd want want to turn up where she is speaking and maybe try to create a bit of noise to drown out her hate speech against them so that others wouldn't hear it?

I'd be pretty understanding if they'd want to do that I think.

Could not agree more 🙂

I was in the political wilderness until I checked my constituency candidates just now. I really could not believe my good fortune when I saw there was a Party of Women candidate.

I am homeless no more. I know where my vote's going 😍

froomeonthebroom · 23/06/2024 20:29

I will be voting for them instead of spoiling my ballot

What makes you think the trans person could not be the best person for your tenancy and would not pay rent every month?

Or is it perhaps because you've voted for a person that is advising employers not to give trans people any jobs?

So you have an idea already, because of your own prejudice and your own actions, that they have less access to a stable wage?

BIossomtoes · 23/06/2024 20:31

I wrote my local MP (Lab) to ask for his stance on willy's in female changing rooms

Willy’s what?

That's never happened anywhere. You think women, ethnic minorities, the working-class etc not being equally represented in the top jobs is because they're simply not the best for role?

Wait a second. When Maya Forstater won her tribunal which meant that those with gender critical beliefs couldn't be discriminated against and fired from their workplaces, most trans rights activists were absolutely furious.
So while I don't agree with KJK on this one *
many of the people outraged by this comment are massively hypocritical.

*Though I haven't watched the whole video only read brief summaries.

KJK is advocating wholesale discrimination on the basis of who a person is, that is, their trans status.

In her worldview the trans person does not even have to open their mouth, express any views, say anything in particular at all, or act in any way at all.

She has not nuanced or qualified her commentary on this, it is simply their status as trans people that is sufficient for her to be advocating wholesale discrimination against them, and that is pure and simple prejudice.

Underthinker · 23/06/2024 20:44

@suggestionsplease1
There's no hierarchy of discrimination in the equality act. Discrimination against protected beliefs is no better or worse than discrimination on the grounds of gender reassignment.

Motorina · 23/06/2024 20:45

I note the OP has plopped and run so we still don’t know who said what or what was so offensive.

I agree the clip from KJK is offensive and would struggle to vote for her. I entirely agree with everything Lesley (the clip linked above) said and applaud her courage in putting herself forward.

It is - sadly - academic as I don’t have a PoW candidate in my constituency. If I did, I would vote for her despite not agreeing with everything KJK says. It’s worth noting I don’t agree with quite a lot that any other party leader says, too, but that won’t stop me voting in a couple of weeks.

And I repeat - we still do not know what the anllegedly offensive comments were. @ThinWomansBrain - as you’re so outraged aren’t you going to tell us?

TiddlyFlaps · 23/06/2024 20:49

It’s just astonishing to see mners casually glossing over the actual transphobia displayed again and again by the leader of the Party of Women.

When it gets to the point that even FWR posters will publicly admit they found her content and views transphobic, you’d think that would give them pause.

For anyone not familiar with Kellie Jay Keen Minshull, she is permanently banned from mn for (amongst other things) saying that trans people should not be allowed to have children.

The usual crowd will fall on this demanding proof, denying it ever happened, and attacking me for reminding everyone of what she said. Those who were here when it happened know the truth.

If you weren’t, feel free to watch her very recent video (linked above) where she recommends landlords and employers refuse to house or employ people based solely on their trans or non binary status. That will get you up to date on the totally not transphobic honest guv views of the Party of Women.

Well I know she's very anti-surrogacy, is that what you're actually referring to?

How does she propose to stop a TW and TM having a child together?
