If you have a representative of "The Party of Women" standing in your constituency, give them a wide birth.
I had the misfortune to encounter a representative at the local hustings this afternoon. I'm about to put in a complaint to the police - several were present, but did nothing to intervene and stop the transphobic hate speech.
I's outrageous that they should be allowed to call themselves "The Party of Women" (presumably hoping to pick up votes by misleading people unto thinking they're The Women's Equality Party") they certainly don't speak for me.

This is the first thing in ages that I've seen as a potential red flag against PR.

🥱

FOJN · 23/06/2024 18:08

I'm sure the Party of Women are grateful for you highlighting them on the busiest board of a predominantly female website.

Either that was your intention or you just don't do activism very well.

I'm pleased there is a candidate standing in my constituency, it means I won't have to spoil my ballot.

Scammersarescum · 23/06/2024 18:09

Great PR for them OP

You must be working for them surely?

NoWordForFluffy · 23/06/2024 18:09

Oh no OP! What on earth did they say to make you react like this? That sex matters and women deserve single-sex services? That women don't have penises? How awful! 🙄

More seriously, I would like to think that the police would have a really high threshold for interrupting a properly registered candidate, who has been nominated by voters in their constituency, who is speaking at an election event. Because protecting our democracy is much more important than your right not to be offended.

There are political parties I find pretty damn offensive but I wouldn’t want the police silencing their candidates. Because democracy.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/06/2024 18:17

@TuesdayWhistler you're on? Anyone fancy a wager? I'll put a slice of pepperoni against two olives.

DrSpartacular · 23/06/2024 18:20

Oh dear, what did she say that upset you so much?

TheKeatingFive · 23/06/2024 18:23

Pizza sounds great 🍷

PickAChew · 23/06/2024 18:26

Nice bit of vague posting there by the OP.

Kellie-Jay Keen founded Party Of Women to make sure that people can safely sayNo woman has a penisNo man has a vaginaThere is no such thing as "non-binary"And "transitioning" children is abuse
Our concerns:

  • Men who claim to be women are in female-only spaces.
  • Children are being indoctrinated into this nonsensical ideology at school in PSHE, as well as the entire curriculum.
  • Female language is being erased and diluted. The NHS refers to birthing persons, chest feeders, cervix havers, menstruators or vagina havers.
  • Women’s sport is being given away to mediocre men who pretend to be us.
  • Women are not able to speak freely about our concerns in our places of work, within the NHS, to our children's schools, and in all areas of our public and private life without fear of intimidation or punishment.
  • Single-sex spaces and services are vanishing in care, hospitals, and schools, and even on Girl Guides residential trips!

Our solutions:

  • Repeal the Gender Recognition Act 2004. This act created the legal fiction that allows men to be recognised as women.
  • Remove the protected characteristic of “gender reassignment” in the Equality Act. This is often used to discriminate against women.
  • Restore all government institutions and services to reality based, impartial and professional establishments.
CandyLeBonBon · 23/06/2024 18:35

Let's hear it then op!

SmudgeButt · 23/06/2024 18:36

Fortunately no one so contentious in our area. Well outside of a twonk who thinks that the immigration problem is caused by Jews importing Muslims.

RagzRebooted · 23/06/2024 18:36

DH is voting for ours. I don't really go for single issue parties and will probably be voting Labour again (DH doesn't like Starmer and left labour after Corbyn went). I do agree with their point though, I'd say I'm gender critical but I'm not transphobic (DH possibly is, he spends too much time on Facebook!).

Hedgeoffressian · 23/06/2024 18:37

You lost me at “transphobic hate speech”.

MinnieCauldwell · 23/06/2024 18:39

Sadly no POW candidate in my area or I would be voting for them. Now where's that pizza....

AnneShirleysNewDress · 23/06/2024 18:40

Come on then OP. How did they offend your sensibilities?

Brukli · 23/06/2024 18:40

They’re standing in my area and unless Starmer does an unlikely about turn on ‘what is a woman?’ I’ll be voting for them.

Createausername1970 · 23/06/2024 18:40

I am quite liking them. Not sure if they have got to our leafy suburbs, but I will check my postal voting slip.

Funnily enough, prompted by reading threads on here, I wrote my local MP (Lab) to ask for his stance on willy's in female changing rooms and whether, under a Labour government, should I encounter this eventuality, would I be allowed to ask that the meat and two veg be relocated next door (phrased appropriately).

Haven't had a response as yet.

AHFaemale · 23/06/2024 18:41

Wide birth 🤣🤣🤣. Wish i could vote for them...wonderful, strong women.
