The Party of Women

If you have a representative of "The Party of Women" standing in your constituency, give them a wide birth.
I had the misfortune to encounter a representative at the local hustings this afternoon. I'm about to put in a complaint to the police - several were present, but did nothing to intervene and stop the transphobic hate speech.
I's outrageous that they should be allowed to call themselves "The Party of Women" (presumably hoping to pick up votes by misleading people unto thinking they're The Women's Equality Party") they certainly don't speak for me.

This is the first thing in ages that I've seen as a potential red flag against PR.

I was just wondering about the pizza

Whatineed · 23/06/2024 18:45

You could probably fly the pizza in from Napoli after the dough was doubled proofed before you get an answer with receipts.

jeaux90 · 23/06/2024 18:47

I'd vote for them

Bluewhiteblue · 23/06/2024 18:54

Maybe the OP is TERF trying to get publicity for the party?

Yep!

The WEP has 4 entire candidates across the country despite having been going for years. PoW have 16 when it's been an official party for a matter of months. I'm not sure PoW want to be WEP!

Maybe that's where they are. Waiting patiently at their local Police station while the desk sergeant searches for the "Hurty Feelz" form.

I'd vote for them if they were standing in my area.

So would I!

OP were you one of the nutters trying to drown out women speaking at Let Women Speak today? https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5103434-just-let-women-speak

Was it the stuff advising wholesale discrimination against trans people and advising employers not to employ any trans people because they are all lazy, and for landlords not to rent out any accomodation to trans people because they will not pay rent?

(See KJK in clip below)

Yes you're right OP, it is pure transphobia and how people can say this rhetoric is acceptable today and that they are happy to vote for such a person, well it's utterly bewildering isn't it.

Ita hard to fathom how anyone could look another human being in the eye and proudly spout this bile. But they walk amongst us it seems.

nothingcomestonothing · 23/06/2024 19:51

Is this thread all you hoped for, OP?

Createausername1970 · 23/06/2024 18:40

I am quite liking them. Not sure if they have got to our leafy suburbs, but I will check my postal voting slip.

Funnily enough, prompted by reading threads on here, I wrote my local MP (Lab) to ask for his stance on willy's in female changing rooms and whether, under a Labour government, should I encounter this eventuality, would I be allowed to ask that the meat and two veg be relocated next door (phrased appropriately).

Haven't had a response as yet.

Edited

I doubt you will get a response, I don't think they have any plans to protect women's rights.

TheMiceOnTheMouseOrgan · 23/06/2024 20:05

Candidate in my area. Decided to vote for them on Friday and this just confirms.

greenatthetop · 23/06/2024 20:07

There were no police at hustings I’ve been at, and also no party of women candidate. So maybe the police were there to protect the party of women candidate from the real haters, you know, the ones who actually have been violent and aggressive to women, made death threats and rape threats, stir up imagined offenses against GC women to whip up hatred against us, you know, your lot. The police were probably there to protect the party of women candidate from your lot.

At the hustings I was at they were able to openly advertise it and the venue in advance, we didn’t have to have a security check by paid security guards. In fact there were no security guards. We didn’t have to have a bag check, or throw away any liquids before the event. For a decade now, I have had to that at every event for women I have been to, because if the violence and threats from your lot.

So remove that plank from your own eye, OP, and look at whose actually doing the hating.

Can I ask why you're happy to vote for someone who is advising employers not to employ trans people and landlords not to give them accommodation?

Is there a reason you think trans people should not be entitled to work or to have somewhere to live?

Motorina · 23/06/2024 20:11

@suggestionsplease1 I agree - KJK’s comments in that clip are highly offensive.

I still wouldn’t want the police silencing a candidate - any candidate- at a hustings.

And the OP still hasn’t returned to tell us what this particular candidate (who may or may not have been KJK) said was so offensive.
