I'm no fan of this man but this is just not cricket!!

A many appears to throwing rock like stuff from a bin at Farage

Thankfully the rocks missed him and I hope everyone else is safe on that bus

IMO, Farage should now get police protection

What central ground? We now live in a dystopian hellscape of extremes with the left leading the way with their trademark iconic moral claim to never interact with a known Tory under any circumstances, should a conversation develop about viewpoints. They combust within a 20 mile radius of anyone considering reform. This is not the land of civilised debate and decency at the moment.

Starmer has been steadily chipping away at the Never Kissed A Tory wing of the party. Labour are a lot more centrist now than the direction that Corbyn was going to knuckle-drag them in. They're tracking towards the centre marginally slower than the Conservatives are lurching to the hard right.

Labour abandoned its roots in 1994 and has moved right ever since. Corbyn was a blip I think.

The replies under the tweet are priceless, particularly this one:

"Bring back National Service so people can learn how to hit the target when they throw stuff at Farage.".

Zero sympathy for him: xenophobic, divisive, racist fascists belong in jail

Disgusting.

New Labour was the most progressive government we've had in my lifetime. If Starmer wins this time it will be despite the best efforts of the socialist left of the party determined to never repeat that success.

They’re simply not very bright in my opinion.

The same people who accuse you of being a Tory if you dare to criticise Labour.

People whose brains are not capable of anything more than tribalism and black/white thinking.

It spoils the quality of debate on here.

This.

That person will rightfully face criminal consequences. You can't chuck rocks at people in a civilised society.

Shame Nigel's ideas about what makes a society civilised are so limited but thank goodness he lives to spew bilge another day.

I fear that ship has sailed.

Widespread shoplifting, knife wielding children, burglaries not attended by police, teachers paying for children's stationery and loo roll.

Civilised we are not ...

hairtonup · 11/06/2024 18:03

Oh i forgot poo in our rivers. Silly me

And would you take a similar view if say Starmer or Rayner was hit in the face with some concrete by someone who disagrees with their views?

ActivePeony · 11/06/2024 18:09

Tracker1234 · 11/06/2024 17:44

Meetingofminds is 100% correct. I would love to see a cross party group reviewing the NHS rather than throwing more and more money at it and allowing a sensible debate on reform. Other coutries have some well run systems.

it will never happen.

It would be brilliant. And, as you say, will never bloody well happen. We all deserve so much better.

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 11/06/2024 15:40

The fact is many left wingers are equally as bad, unintelligent, illogical and self interested as those on the far right. They agree with a principle WITHOUT EXCEPTION… until it doesn’t suit them. Then it’s ’different’, apparently. They’re cut from the same unedifying cloth.

👏

Yup.

Next question?

bravefox · 11/06/2024 18:12

Not RTFT, but just wanted to check. Is Nigel still sitting on the fence about calling out Reform candidates who thought we should have been neutral to Hitler?

This is quite concerning, wrongly I assumed most people on mumsnet were relatively bright and decent.

That the sentiment 'Violence is wrong...BUT' is being repeated is horrifying.

It doesn't matter how much you hate or dislike the person being attacked, there is no 'but' in that sentence.

Sickening.

I come from a country where it REALLY isn't allowed to have dissenting views. The beauty of the UK is that it is. Please don't lose that. You won't like it when they come for people with your opinions next.

This.

ActivePeony · 11/06/2024 18:14

GuinnessBird · 11/06/2024 18:11

Yup.

Next question?

No words really. I expect you are on the wind up.

Echobelly · 11/06/2024 18:16

I'm happy for Farage to be milkshaked as it's merely annoying and embarrassing, which he deserves. Disappointed people have chosen to chuck potentially harmful stuff - it gives fuel to 'see they're just as bad as the others' viewpoints and also puts other politicians at risk as Far Right thugs might decide, well, they have an excuse the physically attack politicians to their Left, as the other side 'started it'

It's none of your business to be honest, I hate Farage, he is an odious little englander and a raving hypocrite.

Where will that lead?…

And you are happy for rocks to be thrown at him, at Starmer, at Rayner by people who disagree with their politics. Worrying to say the least.

I don't give a fuck whether you like Farage or not - your attitude to casual violence on political grounds is very alarming. It is NOT OK to attack people in the street whose views we disagree with. This is fucking primary school shit.

Meetingofminds · 11/06/2024 18:20

GuinnessBird · 11/06/2024 18:11

So you are not worth engaging with. Just a violent thug.

Idiotic 'logic'. It is not ok to 'milkshake' those we may disagree with. How old are you?!

He is one point behind the Conservatives in the polls. I would say his prospective voters don’t give a damn.

Not really, I just hate Farage.

napody · 11/06/2024 18:31

Kudos to the Jo Cox foundation who condemned the attacks on Farage today.

If only Nige had extended Jo's widower the same respect- smearing him as an extremist (for involvement with Hope not Hate foundation) months after she was killed.

They go low....

I'm 46 and very childish and think people are welcome to milkshake any politician they like, but not to hurt them.
