General election 2024

Seeing as it’s anonymous… where is your vote going?

My views -

Conservative - Potentially had a tough ride with Covid & brexit aftermath to navigate. However, looking at the state of the NHS & the ever increasing price rises in almost everything… how could I vote them in again?

Labour - Almost feels like the only likely alternative. Change is as good as any? But Keir starmer does precisely 0 for me. I cannot get passionate about him.

Greens - Won our constituency a while ago, whilst I appreciate what they stand for the changes they made locally have had a negative impact on the average citizen IMO.

Reform - Nigel Farage is DIFFERENT, I don’t think that can be denied. Part of me thinks bold and controversial is what we need and the other thinks he is a brilliant campaigner and is just playing up to the people trying to act like ‘one of the working class’ to garner votes.

Where is your vote going?

Green, I do speak to others who say green but that they don't want to waste their vote - I feel that if all those who don't want to waste their vote on green just vote it, it would no longer be wasted.. therefore I shall

cryinglaughing · 11/06/2024 06:10

Not Labour.
Need to look at policies when they are released to see where my vote goes.

CaravaggiosCat · 11/06/2024 06:26

I did an online test and it came back SDP, so I guess whoevers policies are closest to theirs.

eurochick · 11/06/2024 07:11

I'm truly politically homeless.

The Tories need to go.

Labour are uninspiring plus the vat on private school fees and talk of taxing pensions would clobber me financially.

Lib Dems - still don't know what a woman is. They want to rejoin the single Market, which is great but the rest of their policies are pretty poor.

Greens - misogynistic shit show. Have completely lost their way.

Reform - what short memories people have. Brexit trashed the country. They now want to do the same for the nhs. They would be a disaster.

Currently my vote is looking to be a protest vote for the monster Raving Loonies.

Quittingwifework · 11/06/2024 07:16

I get the impression Keir doesn’t want to have policies or opinions in case they discourage the inevitable tide of people simply voting for labour because they don’t want Tories

this is so perfectly said

Quittingwifework · 11/06/2024 07:16

I asked our Lib Dem candidate what a woman was and her response was “could you please expand on that question so I can answer it properly”….

Lavendersquare · 11/06/2024 07:29

Labour without any hesitation, I'm a higher rate taxpayer in my 50's so should by now be leaning right but working in local government and seeing the damage done by years and years of cuts to services I can't see that there is any alternative. People need to realise that every time that incomes are cut for the poorest it leads to worse life outcomes for them and their children which is not good for the economy or the country.

MarjorieDanvers · 11/06/2024 07:32

Labour

determinedtomakethiswork · 11/06/2024 07:38

Definitely and always labour but I would like to have had a huge focus on the environment and climate.

I think it might also be fair to say that as politics has shifted further and further right, those slightly-left-of-centre like Starmer are described as “loony Lefties”.

This. The irony is that many Labour supporters don’t like Starmer because he’s NOT a leftie. He’s a neoliberal like Blair, and has made no secret of his admiration for Thatcher. He’s a dyed-in-the-wool centrist.

ActivePeony · 11/06/2024 07:55

SDP

BloodyHellKenAgain · 11/06/2024 08:10

I'm in one of the seats Labour hopes to win.

I want to vote Labour but can't because of their lack of support for single sex spaces/treatment of Rosie Duffield etc and KS gaping silence on Cass. I just don't trust them.

So I will be either spoiling my vote or for the first time voting Conservative as a protest vote.

Come July 5th I'm hoping for a hung Parliament to give all parties a chance to regroup and get some sensible candidates and policies for next time.

Wheresyourvote · 10/06/2024 20:38

Those voting Labour, can I ask if that’s because you genuinely believe in Keir Starmer and his policies or because you just want conservatives out?

I'm not voting for Keir Starmer, I'm voting for the labour party and in particular my local MP who is bloody marvellous.

However I think Keir Starmer is competent, reliable, realistic about what he can get done with the money available, and also a bit ruthless when needed.

I don't want to feel passion about a prime minister, I want someone with a bit of life experience who's a bloody good manager. Someone from a down to earth background who rose to the absolute pinnacle of his career before even entering politics, and then managed to make the labour party electable within a single term entirely fits the bill entirely fits the bill.

"Come July 5th I'm hoping for a hung Parliament to give all parties a chance to regroup and get some sensible candidates and policies for next time."

I get what you are saying but the result will be a Labour victory- the only thing in contention is the size of their majority.

Yes I know, hence me saying I'm hoping for a hung parliament as hung parliaments inevitably have their hands tied.

OneWorldly4 · 11/06/2024 08:23

Conservative

Usually Labour but not with the private schools policy. Plus, my Labour MP ignored my emails about me asking if she voted for a ceasefire or not in the Israel/Palestine issue. Any MP that cannot answer a basic question is a big red flag for me.

Reform is a joke so never.

Sing it, sister. 💯

Pourmeanotherwine · 11/06/2024 08:27

Labour or green - undecided - very safe labour seat.

NashvilleQueen · 11/06/2024 08:39

Tactically to get the Tories out. So Lib Dem here but I want Labour to win the most seats.

And this particular Tory government, which with its incompetence, malevolence and corruption is the worst in my lifetime, deserves to be consigned to a generation on the back benches.

Freysimo · 11/06/2024 08:43

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 10/06/2024 20:36

Plaid Cymru

Plaid would be an option for me and I like Rhun ap Iorwerth, but I don't accept gender self ID. So Lib Dems and Labour out for me also.

I don't recall Cameron having his hands especially tied in 2010. Admittedly, the Lib Dems got a few things through, but broadly it was a Conservative government.

sparkellie · 11/06/2024 09:11

Either green or labour.

I'm slightly confused as to which is more likely to oust the tories in my area. In 2019 in my ward the green party came closest to the conservatives, but when I search my postcode it says that the labour party has the best chance of getting the tories out in my constituency. Can anyone help me understand this?

NashvilleQueen · 11/06/2024 09:14

@sparkellie has your boundary changed? That might impact who is now most likely to beat the tories.
