Who do we think is likely to front this programme? At one time I would have said Huw Edwards but he's now out of the picture. I can't see David Dimbleby doing it again given his age, unless he really wants to. I hope it will be Sophie Raworth or Fiona Bruce, someone who's been round the block a few times. I expect the likes of Jeremy Vine, John Curtice and Nick Eardley will be doing their stuff too.

I'd like to see someone new have a go

As long as Laura Kussenburg tory poster girl is nowhere near it. Although in some ways it would be nice to see her face as they are wiped out.

Exactly. If I was in the country, I’d be watching C4. They have Rory Stewart & Alastair Campbell on in the lead up.

OliveTheaBough · 26/05/2024 07:27

Victoria Derbyshire and Clive Myrie

MathsandStats · 26/05/2024 07:30

I vote for Graham Norton. Lighten the mood a bit.

That would be good. I'd like Richard Ayoade to support.

heldinadream · 26/05/2024 07:35

Emma Barnett would liven up proceedings.
With Mishal Hussein as calm counterfoil.

Be good to see it fronted by women.

SnapdragonToadflax · 26/05/2024 07:35

I was wondering this the other day and couldn't think of anyone obvious. Maybe Fiona Bruce? Surely they wouldn't go with Kuennsberg.

I'll be watching C4 mostly anyway, they can be more outspoken and will have more interesting guests.

SpentAll · 26/05/2024 08:01

FB is notoriously biased so yeah she will probs get the gig.

I expect Sky News coverage will be good - second for me only to C4. TBH I gave up on BBC “news” years ago when the gvmt put their own person in - it’s just state propaganda now. Well, until 5 July anyway…..

LlynTegid · 26/05/2024 10:00

Sophie Raworth does not give any opinions about anything in public, very much the professional face. Would be ideal for someone who would be and be seen to be neutral.

Probably a very different person in private, and I'd guess a joy to be with.

GoogleWhacking · 26/05/2024 10:02

Bound to be Kuennsburg, but I'd like Sophie.

GoogleWhacking · 26/05/2024 10:02

Or maybe Naga

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 26/05/2024 10:03

Chris Mason.

I love that guy. So plain spoken.

I remember him referring to Parliament as ‘bobbins’ during Brexit votes.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 26/05/2024 10:08

Also Jo Coburn. I love how she tells them off for talking over each other on Politics Live.

heldinadream · 26/05/2024 10:12

Outside the box - Rob Watson who does UK politics for BBC World Service radio. Love his analyses and his quite dry humour too.
Obviously not on quite the right career trajectory for the gig, but I'd happily listen to him on it all.

heldinadream · 26/05/2024 10:13

I like your choices @ArseInTheCoOpWindow

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 26/05/2024 10:15

I think it will be Chris Mason and Laura K together.

Theyre the top BBC political reporters.

Katypp · 26/05/2024 10:16

I thought the BBC had already said it was going to be Laura Kuennsburg and the local elections were a rehearsal for the real thing?

I thought I knew it was Laura K but I don't know why I thought that.

Why do you think she's a "tory poster girl"?

bombastix · 27/05/2024 17:33

Laura K and Chris M are v dull. Hard pass on BBC if it’s them. Channel 4 looks much more interesting.

Never asks difficult questions of Tories.
