To continue into Spring 2022.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how many pictures I will be able to supply this year . Some builders are in building an extension for me .
I might have to live off all your lovely photos. Keep them coming!💐

Your garden is a haven for small creatures APurpleSquirrel

The plants are loving the sunshine and showers but am starting to wish it would warm up a bit...

Sweetpea1532 · 26/07/2023 23:28

If you've been on this thread for awhile you'll remember that @AnneKipankitoo has deemed my garden the best cafe in town because the pesky ground squirrels have eaten just about everything I plant...my beautiful giant agaves...eaten from the roots up...my giant sunflower...nibbled in half and finished off like a stalk of celery...my beautiful Canary Island palm....they ate a 5 inch diameter hole right through the trunk...I could go on and on...but they actually have given me a surprise...they planted a tomato seed (now vine) under the side of my house that has grown and grown like a weed without any fertiliser or water or tending! And then they tunneled up to it under the leaves so you can't see their hole...clever little devils. They also planted a silver bushy thing that has purple flowers that are being enjoyed by hummingbirds.
I've tried to attach photos but those solar flares are at it again

Sweetpea1532 · 27/07/2023 06:31

I'll try again...yay, it's working now

Beautiful @Sweetpea1532

You can just about see you in the window 👍🏻

Thanks, @AnneKipankitoo

Thank goodness you couldn't see me...I looked a frightGrin

I have found a few loose tomatoes with little nibbles taken out on the floor, but I guess it's allowed since they planted them..oh no! Just realised they were mouse sized nibbles, not squirrel sized...

AnneKipankitoo · 27/07/2023 22:04

Shocker !

Got back from 2 weeks away, I am always worried what I will find! Weather has been kind and a lot of plants are happily doing their thing!
Still waiting for the rest of the sunflowers to arrive

Wow@Lottsbiffandsmudge how gorgeous...that must have been fun to drive up and be greeted with all the beautiful coloursFlowers
You have quite a nice selection there

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 30/07/2023 14:04

Thanks guys. It's always sad to.come back from a great holiday but the garden gives me a reason to be excited!

Sweetpea1532 · 30/07/2023 14:16

@Lottsbiffandsmudge
Isn't it fun to see how much things have grown whilst you were away that you really don't notice when you see them every day?

Sweetpea1532 · 30/07/2023 14:19

@Lottsbiffandsmudge Do you mind sharing what you have in your gardens? The colours go so well together...what is that bluish one in the back in the middle?

Lottsbiffandsmudge · 30/07/2023 14:40

@Sweetpea1532 currently the flowering ones are
Eringium (that's the blue one, a thistle)
Verbena bonaresis (tall purple) my fave plant of all time..bit of a self seeding thug if it likes your garden! Hot and sunny mainly!
Rudbeckia (yellow daisy)... its actually not v good for my garden as its shallow roooted so needs rain- it really struggled last year, good this year
The white/pink Bush is a hydrangea but not a mop.head
Crocosmia is the bright red one next to it
The buddlihia (can never spell that) is still going strong.
There are also
Sunflowers (one at mo out)
White cosmos
Bright pink zinnias (only one at the mo)
Purple cornflowers
The japense annenome is about to burst out
I also have blue Hardy geraniums out as ground cover
There are also 2 new heleniums in red which are quite small this year but I hope they will bulk out.
And self seeded marigolds (not the bedding type!) Which are bright orange.
I started the border with a purple/ yellow theme but I am relaxing that a bit now.
Off to garden centre for some.nerrine bulbs for some autumn colour!

applecatchers36 · 30/07/2023 15:38

Love your bed planting Lottsbiffand smudge sounds like you have a great mix of annuals and perennials really vibrant!

Sweetpea1532 · 31/07/2023 06:22

@Lottsbiffandsmudge you've been very busy ! Thanks for taking the time to list them outFlowers

WobblyLondoner · 02/08/2023 07:44

@Lottsbiffandsmudge what a gorgeous garden! It must have been lovely to come home to. Like others here mine is very green at the mo - the main colour is from dark pink dahlias and Japanese anemones. The Eucomis are just coming out too.

Your Jasmina is such a pretty pink. Does she have a lovely fragrance?
