To continue into Spring 2022.

Unfortunately, I am not sure how many pictures I will be able to supply this year . Some builders are in building an extension for me .
I might have to live off all your lovely photos. Keep them coming!💐

BTW, I'm hoping bobcats aren't attracted to catnip..my neighbours told me yesterday their trail cam has picked up a bobcat several times recently 🙀

Thanks@AnneKipankitoo for the link to bobcats...I had no idea they played such an important role in Native American culture.

Here's view of aspidistra flowers I found in a pot today. They grow out of the soil and are often missed because of the thickly-packed containers. All my aspidistras are grown outside.

So cute@echt ..peeping their heads out of the soil...I'm not familiar with aspidistras...very unusual..thanks for sharing Flowers

Sweetpea1532 · 17/07/2023 03:17

Do your flowers have stems at some point?
How is the weather where you are?

echt · 17/07/2023 03:38

Sorry, should have said. I'm in Melbourne and July is mid-winter, though it's been mild this year. Aspidistra flowers have no stem above the ground, just as they look in the photo.

echt · 18/07/2023 09:32

Here's a jade plant in bloom. They're unstoppable in Melbourne and I literally take a kitchen cleaver to hack bits off to keep it in place.

@echt
That jade is beautiful
.. they grow well here in California also, but I've never seen one looking so nice.
Ours have started to turn red...I know that's a sign of stress, but can't figure out what they have to worry about😅

Sweetpea1532 · 18/07/2023 16:28

Hahahahaha @echt I have that same bench and brick work

APurpleSquirrel · 18/07/2023 18:31

Gorgeous @APurpleSquirrel
My favourite colour, purple

MissConductUS · 18/07/2023 21:47

One of these things is not like the others.

The flowers are holding up well, despite the heat.

Yes. The bench is oak and brought over from the UK. It's handled 16 years of Aussie summer like a breeze.

Sweetpea1532 · 19/07/2023 06:04

@MissConductUS your flowers are lovely and glad to see kitty is enjoying hiding in them😸

Thanks you, @Sweetpea1532. He adores being on the deck, in the fresh air and watching the woods behind the house. Unless it's raining, or too hot or cold. He has servants who let him in and out at his whim. 😁

applecatchers36 · 20/07/2023 18:57

Sounds like our cat MissConductUS

Some current blooms crocosima, fushias, and now the dahlias have started

Whoa@applecatchers36 your garden is bursting with colour....all gorgeous!

WobblyLondoner · 23/07/2023 13:21

Very very wet here in London. But on the bright side it's all looking very lush and the persicaria (which barely survived last summer) have perked up. The green picture here is a new area surrounding a tree fern that just gives me such joy.

@applecatchers36 I love that pink dahlia! I've got one that is the same colour but is more globular, a cactus variety.

WobblyLondoner · 23/07/2023 13:29

@APurpleSquirrel oh my, that Buddleja. I tried growing one once but just don't get enough sun. Does it get covered in insects?

APurpleSquirrel · 23/07/2023 16:16

@WobblyLondoner yes, lots of bees & butterflies.
Here is an appalling photo of a peacock butterfly. Had these, painted ladies, browns, whites, blues. They love buddleia. Our white buddleia will be blooming soon too.

And last month it had these caterpillars which are mullein moth caterpillars.
