Just a little fourward planning . We are all looking forward to another thread of fabulous pictures. It can be a quiet time but I am sure some of us will have autumnal colours to share . The trees are starting to turn here . I have just picked an allium from my photo collection to start the thread off .
You are very welcome to finish or visit the old thread . I do not know how to do ... this is the old thread here thing .

The purple flower looks like cosmos @Sweetpea1532.

Spot on AnneKipanki . The cosmos were really slow to flower this year but now they’re hanging on for dear life. I pulled loads up so I could plant some roses but I didn’t have the heart to lose the last of them.

Flatpackback · 23/11/2020 20:29

Sweetpea I’m in south west England and although some things are still in bloom, there’s still no sign of the birds. I’m going to try putting some food in a different part of the garden and see if that draws them back.

Gosh they look so cheerful in this gloomy weather, thanks for posting.

beautyisfoundwithin · 25/11/2020 14:34

How funny @Sweetpea1532! I can certainly understand the attraction, I absolutely love living here. Do you have a particular favourite place in this area? Just out of interest!

Lovely photos! So nice to see those splashes of colour still going strong. The last of my flowers are all gone now, and because of the amount of snow we normally get I have to pack away so much into indoor storage for winter; my furniture, many of my containers, all of my decorations, etc. so the garden looks very bare now 😔

AnneKipanki · 25/11/2020 15:04

We don't tend to have much either @beautyisfoundwithin .

@beautyisfoundwithin

We used to ski Kitzbühel...or I should say DH skied...I'd go on day trips all over the place most of the time since I would have had to stay on the bunny slopes because I have the skills of about a 2 year old child....I crash just trying to get off the lift ⛷< not meGrin. I've only ever traveled there in the winters so everything was covered in white...we need to do a spring, summer, or fall trip next after seeing your beautiful garden and green hills.Smile
Anne and Apple, such pretty colours you still have...thanks for sharing!

I posted this on the last thread. I as soon proud. It looked fantastic. Now it looks terrible.

Please could anyone advise, if my 2 x clematis on either side, are in fact DEAD?

Very last of the dahlias. Any advice - do I dig them up over the winter or leave them?

Best I think it depends where you live. We are in SE and I leave them in over winter and they come back year after year. I think they can survive a mild winter but if you are further north perhaps dig them up and replant in spring?

AnneKipanki · 28/11/2020 13:29

@Oblomov20 I think ours do this .

Just been on a forum @Oblomov20 . Some varieties go to sleep.
Wait until spring.

Thank you OP Anne. I will wait till spring and see what happens.

It's only 2 x Aldi clematis that I planted, which grew very rapidly and I was thrilled.

@Goldenhedgehogs
Wow, I've never seen a fox IRL
I bet they keep the rodents down.

I love your little baby succulent nursery...you'll be able to outfit everyone in the neighbourhood with one for Christmas!

Sweetpea1532 · 16/12/2020 22:08

Getting ready to put in some violas...they are one of my favs

Sweetpea1532 · 16/12/2020 22:13

Would it be okay @AnneKipanki
if we showed photos of our Christmas trees if we have them since we are all kind of running out of garden color? I don't want to derail your thread!Smile

SantaPranki · 17/12/2020 09:54

Perfect @Sweetpea1532 .
My clematis is still flowering, and the cyclamen 👍🏻

@SantaPranki
Beautiful tree! Thanks for sharing.
The tree itself is lovely, also...I was looking at another thread about colourful lights for trees.
All of the real trees that were shown were the same kind as yours.
Do you know what type of evergreen it is? We don't get those here in the US very often, and if we do, they are very expensive....I think more commonly we have Douglas Fir.
My first Christmas with DH we were going away for the holidays. Instead of getting a cut tree I got a small living tree (about 1 meters high)...when we got back from holiday I planted it and 40 years on it is about 10 meters nowGrin
This year I decided to get creative and find something from my garden that was tree shaped and decorate it instead of a real tree.....I took the blades of my small windmill off leaving me with an obelisk shaped frame. I then cut vines from my passion fruit vine and wrapped them around, added colourful lights, and voila...a Christmas tree ( albeit a bit tacky Grin) but it works and DH loves it( he especially loves that I put the lights on a remote control so he can sit back in his manchair and turn them on/off without having to leave his comfy spot).
Fingers crossed that the leaves stay green until at least 26 Dec
