Just a little fourward planning . We are all looking forward to another thread of fabulous pictures. It can be a quiet time but I am sure some of us will have autumnal colours to share . The trees are starting to turn here . I have just picked an allium from my photo collection to start the thread off .
You are very welcome to finish or visit the old thread . I do not know how to do ... this is the old thread here thing .

@Furries..oh no, not your

beautiful roses! I'm sorry that has happened..I'm glad that you showed us the photo before the big downpour! ...I don't have any roses... I always manage to get ripped apart by the thorns..my arms are full of scars!..roses do grow very well here, too.
I'm glad you're enjoying the difference in the plants where I live....and I enjoyed seeing your luscious green grass...I do miss grass! It is frowned upon here because it must be regularly watered and we're supposed to only grow drought tolerant ☹

AnneKipanki · 19/06/2021 09:32

Sorry @Furries. I think I posted just what they were separately.

Do you mean this SP? It’s weigelia... not sure if the spelling.

There is a USA firm gardenia.net you can check if they do any suitable for your garden.
It would not link .☹️

@AnneKipanki - ha, yes, have now clocked the separate shots! I’m very tempted with the GJ rose.

AnneKipanki · 19/06/2021 10:43

It is a beautiful rose @Furries. A lot of posters on this thread have it .

Wow, I've just checked back in after a really busy spell and I can't believe how much I've missed! The thread is moving so fast now that everyone's gardens are bursting into life!

So many gorgeous Roses (as ALWAYS on this thread! 😉)

You've got some lovely containers @FeltTipPenny.

Some stunning Clematis too, as usual I'm envious as I cannot grow them no matter how many times I try ☹️

So sorry to see the news of the fire @Sweetpea1532, glad to hear you and your family are safe and well. Your onions are coming along very nicely. I can't believe your Sweet Peas that seem to flourish everywhere, some by accident, without any nurture! Mine are much more fussy for sure! They certainly do not tolerate anything less than constant watering 😂

@Furries wow! Your garden transformation is incredible! It looks absolutely stunning now, well worth all the hard work I would imagine.

beautyisfoundwithin · 19/06/2021 12:01

Peony opened up yesterday and Bleeding Heart is full of blooms.

And my first Sweet Peas have arrived, I'm very excited as they're my favourite! We've got a couple of different seating areas in the garden and I've deliberately positioned them around those, the smell is heavenly when you sit down with a glass of wine in the evening 😍

This is a tree in the garden with a lean towards the house. It is a cedar dedarus.
There is a view from the scaffolding too . The grass you see is our neighbour’s garden.

The grass beyond the fence anyway is the neighbours’ grass.

@beautyisfoundwithin
Thank you for your good wishes. We had another fire on Tuesday...but since the 400 homes burned years ago more money has gone into fire prevention and fire fighting...it's pretty interesting to watch because they use jumbo jets and helicopters fitted to drop water and fire fighting foam. The animal shelters are prepared to help the injured wild animals, also.

Wow, you're up there with the birdies. And what a gorgeous view with all the GREEN! I love your house, too!
Thanks for the tip about gardenias..I'll check it outFlowers

Scary photos @Sweetpea1532 - I hope it calms down.

@Furries @AnneKipanki I have to say I'm a bit ambivalent about GJ. It's my only rose and I suspect it's not in the ideal spot (too dry) but I'm not sure its one month of glory is really worth it for my garden. It stays because it's for sentimental reasons but if I was starting again I'd want a more reliable repeat flowerer.

This is my colour combination of the day. Zingy Euphorbia oblongata plus a lovely geranium that snuck its way into the garden without me being aware. Star jasmine in the background.

AnneKipanki · 20/06/2021 15:53

I have Rosa Officinalus behind it . It flowers later than GJ .

OP posts:
Sweetpea1532 · 20/06/2021 21:40

Ya'lls's (plural possessive of you all in southern US dialectGrin) geraniums are so different to ours..I really like them...we do have what is called a "cranes bill geranium that is similar.

My DH nicked me a beautiful yellow rose from the garden of an empty house down the road....after I scolded him and reminded him that the house is probably being watched by cctv, he had a lovely comeback..he said the rose was so beautiful that he thought someone should at least enjoy it and that someone should be me...uh huh..tell it to the JudgeGrin

@WobblyLondoner
Please take my gardening advice with a lot of salt!!.. but have you ever pruned your GJ back right after it's bloomed so it maybe could bloom again? I did this in my previous garden and I got several repeat blooms in one season...but it wasn't a GJ and I had no idea what I was doing...I just dislike seeing spent plants so I tend to prune everything after it flowers Shock some good results and some failures Flowers

Sweetpea1532 · 20/06/2021 21:50

@AnneKipanki please jump in and correct me if I've given @WobblyLondoner bum adviceHmm

AnneKipanki · 21/06/2021 07:27

Lovely thought. Beautiful yellow rose .
I always deadhead.

I don’t get a very good second flush as it’s Scotland and the plant is still young

OP posts:
WobblyLondoner · 21/06/2021 18:08

Oh interesting. I do deadhead but nothing more dramatic than that - should I? My GJ is about 8 years old now.?
