Just a little fourward planning . We are all looking forward to another thread of fabulous pictures. It can be a quiet time but I am sure some of us will have autumnal colours to share . The trees are starting to turn here . I have just picked an allium from my photo collection to start the thread off .
You are very welcome to finish or visit the old thread . I do not know how to do ... this is the old thread here thing .

These wild dog roses are growing through the Leyllandi hedge ( neighbours hedge).
The photo doesn’t do them justice, they are so beautifully graceful.

@Sweetpea1532 that is terrifying. I hope you and your family & friends are ok. Over here it's hard to imagine what it must be like to have wildfires as something to worry about lurking at the back of your mind (or indeed right in front of you). I've relatives in Australia and it was horrific hearing their tales from last year. Stay safe.

The Duchess is a beautiful colour and shape @notsogreenthumb

Thank you for asking...we arrived safely and are enjoying our 20°C
weather...the fire has doubled in size...but manageable at this point...some people had to round up their horses and evacuateSad
I'm enjoying seeing the beautiful colours and also the cool greenery.Flowers Thank you all for posting
@notsogreenthumb...gorgeous roses!

@AnneKipanki💛
I wasn't aware that Alaska of all places has lots of fires in the summer, also! Over 20 different sites right now. DDs friend is a helicopter pilot who fights fires..glad he's not my son.Shock
@notsogreenthumb..look at the special onions! I think I should have one each for the whole "Show Us" gang.Grin can't judge the mounding contest yet, though.
Look at that silly sweetpea that decided to plant itself amongst the palm frondsConfused
Hasn't had one drop of rain nor water from me.

Are these the special onions?
Is that a Sweetpea causing a bit of a fracas in the fronds?

Glad to hear you're safe and well @Sweetpea1532. Those special onions are coming along fabulously! I will give you a good chuckle tomorrow and show you my 'onions' which I keep forgetting to water and planted in the shadiest part of the garden !

Maybe the sweet pea is symbolic of you going through such lengths to grow your sulphur free special onions against all odds! May you make it just like the neglected (and maybe a little unwanted) sweet pea 😂

Beautiful roses @Beebumble2! Saw some today just like that and they looked spectacular

Sweetpea1532 · 14/06/2021 23:14

That's it @notsogreenthumb
The seeds abhor my patronising ways...good ole neglect is the ticket to hardy growth...they only grow when and where they think I don't want them to...like a stroppy toddler Grin
Looking forward to your onions

Sweetpea1532 · 14/06/2021 23:19

@AnneKipanki yes, a real fracas...I've got them growing out of cracks in the pavement, under the bin holder, between steps, and anywhere else you can think of that is inconvenient...my NDN was not thrilled one bitty bit last year when the seeds made their way into his weed-filled patchesGrin

KingscoteStaff · 15/06/2021 08:14

Peas and beans growing in our Year 3 garden. We sent out the seeds during lockdown and they brought their seedlings in when we came back to school in March.

Planted my David Austin roses first week of June last year. I am SO pleased with how they’re doing, first time I’ve planted roses. I didn’t anticipate the deadheading! These photos are after cutting of 2 bucket-loads of heads.

The standards are Olivia Rose Austin - lovely scent, but you need to get up close and take a good sniff. The shrubs are Gabriel Oak and the scent just hangs in the air.

Beautiful roses Furries, also love your house, it reminds me of my grandparents house.

WobblyLondoner · 16/06/2021 17:51

Gorgeous roses @Furries.

Does anyone else listen to Gardeners' Corner on BBC Radio Ulster? I don't live anywhere near there but it's a great show/podcast and I thoroughly recommend it. There was a good discussion last week about climbing roses including mention of one whose leaves smell. It sounded amazing.

@Furries
You are quite talented..your garden and roses are spectacular...
A word of warning to all...
When sticking your nose in a rose to sniff the fragrance make sure it is bee-free...my friend told me she was stung once by not looking first🧐😳

Sweetpea1532 · 16/06/2021 19:14

@setthecontrols

Love your purples and whites although I'm not sure why it's called a feminist garden..but I'd love to be educated!Grin

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 16/06/2021 19:15

All photos are beautiful, but wow @Furries Yours are just incredible. What an advertisement for David Austin roses! Tell us your secret... !! What did you to make them look like that? Shock

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 16/06/2021 19:16

do Grin

WobblyLondoner · 16/06/2021 19:25

I know! My good friend google confirms this is an eglantine rose or sweet briar. Too big for my titchy garden but I'd love to smell it - will keep my eyes and nose open.
