Just a little fourward planning . We are all looking forward to another thread of fabulous pictures. It can be a quiet time but I am sure some of us will have autumnal colours to share . The trees are starting to turn here . I have just picked an allium from my photo collection to start the thread off .
You are very welcome to finish or visit the old thread . I do not know how to do ... this is the old thread here thing .

Beautiful @Notsogreenthumb, your grass looks so lush and green too!

Love that story @Sweetpea1532, although now I blame you for giving me ideas!! 😂

Wow, gorgeous photos @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet! 😍

Beautiful blooms always and Anne agree the thread is moving fast at the moment, everyone's gardens look very lush and full of flowers 🌺

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 02/06/2021 09:36

I absolutely love the planter with the birds design Anne and beautiful flowers. Rose is almost there 🤞

Notsogreenthumb · 02/06/2021 11:51

A lovely morning here and even more lovely since the bees are back!! My first bee visit this year and such a shame as so many of my veg flowers died from no pollination but hopefully now things kick into speed. Also had a visit from mr.dragonfly .

Thank you @beautyisfoundwithin, that grass has been my obsession for the last year so I'm glad you think it's lush 😀. It was a junkyard full of car parts and old carpentry equipment this time last year. We had to clear 30 years of untouched overgrowth and weeds and now have this beautiful lawn 😍. (As you can see I'm rather proud of the accomplishment haha)

That is a great achievement @Notsogreenthumb♥️
Thanks @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet. I have two of them.

Love that rosebud @AnneKipanki. This is my Gertrude Jekyll - it's described as repeat flowering but nothing ever lives up to the (amazing) first flush. Second photo is a Hosta and fern combo I potted up today.

I went to RHS Hyde Hall yesterday. Look at these Californian poppies in the dry garden. The depth of colour is just amazing.

Ok, looks as if I'm going to have the privilege of sitting back and enjoying everyone's beautiful garden colours...My garden has dried up to a crisp....except my special onions, 2 passionfruit vines, and a concord grape vine and that's because I water these.

The squirrels have won the war so I gave up there, too...although I have spiked the dolphin fountain with hot sauce to try and keep them at bay...warning: here comes a factoid...were you aware that birds either can't taste or aren't bothered by spicy hot seasoning but squirrels are so if you put hot spice in your bird food the squirrels are supposed to leave it alone?
Attached is a photo of a rock garden someone made...I love it and am going to try and duplicate it..

That is lovely @Sweetpea. I did not know that about spice .

Lovely dark colours there @AnneKipanki. Is that rose dark when it blooms too, or does it open up lighter?

Wow, that's certainly an achievement @Notsogreenthumb, I would be proud too! Amazing dragonfly too, it almost doesn't look real!

Beautiful rose @WobblyLondoner. I tried Californian Poppies last year for the first time and I was so excited by the colour, I've tried some different ones this year so we shall see if I'm as impressed. They're still pretty small seedlings at the moment though so it'll be a while till I see any results.

Thanks for the factoid @Sweetpea1532, I didn't know that either. And good luck with your rock garden, I love it! Am I remembering right that your DH brings you rocks back from his trips? Maybe you could use some of those? I really hope I'm remembering right, if not I'm going to sound crazy! 😂

AnneKipanki · 04/06/2021 17:20

It is red @beautyisfoundwithin.

@beautyisfoundwithin

You've got some beautiful lilacs...as I recall, they smell lovely also.

And yes! What a good memory you have, I'd even forgotten about the rocks my DH brings home...and he just brought some 2 weeks agoGrin

I'm agoing to Palm Springs, Ca to visit my daughter..she works there in the summer...I can't wait to see what types of rock gardening they have there...they've been using rocks instead of grass for over 40 years..should be interesting..the architecture there is mid century modern.
The Ca.poppies are so lovely...I haven't seen a single one around here, though, so thanks for posting...there is also a pale yellow one

Notsogreenthumb · 04/06/2021 21:56

Some begonias which I recently planted. Love the fuscia one Smile. Can't wait to see what it looks like once the roses take a move along..

Not sure why I’ve had an issue with posting photos, but these were my tulips from a few weeks ago. First year of having planting bulbs and I love them, really brightened things up during our gloomy spring.

@Notsogreenthumb

I'm probably wrong since you have such different flowers to us, but could those flowers you planted be geraniums instead of begonias? Whatever they are, they're lovely

@Furries
Your tulips are so pretty..I especially like the ice cream variety.

Sweetpea1532 · 05/06/2021 03:36

@Notsogreenthumb
It looks like you've some new planter boxes, too. They look,very nice and will be very eye-catching when your roses are blooming. Looking forward to thatSmile
