Just a little fourward planning . We are all looking forward to another thread of fabulous pictures. It can be a quiet time but I am sure some of us will have autumnal colours to share . The trees are starting to turn here . I have just picked an allium from my photo collection to start the thread off .
You are very welcome to finish or visit the old thread . I do not know how to do ... this is the old thread here thing .

@Sweetpea1532 you're ever so polite at my error Grin! They are geraniums haha I left the begonias at the centre.. perhaps that's my subconscious telling me to go back and buy them too Wink

Thank you, those are new planters. I am at a rented place and refuse to deck the garden so I have done the best I can and covered the cracked cement with as many large planters as possible 😅

Notsogreenthumb · 05/06/2021 08:08

@Furries those might be some of the prettiest tulips I've seen. They'll definitely be added to my growing list next year

AnneKipanki · 05/06/2021 08:52

Lovely Furries .

Roald Dahl rose and Queen Elizabeth roses from our school garden.

Our wonderful gardener retired during Lockdown and his portfolio has unaccountably landed on my desk...

Thanks all re the tulips! Am kicking myself as I stupidly threw the packets away so have no idea what any of them are called. I also planted these ones (again, name unknown!)

@KingscoteStaff - those roses are stunning! What’s their scent like?

AnneKipanki · 05/06/2021 10:52

Gorgeous @KingscoteStaff

The last tulips look like ice cream sundae ones @Furries

Scent hardly there any more, but they are very old.

WobblyLondoner · 05/06/2021 15:42

Gorgeous tulips @Furries. My photo of today is this strange geranium. It was like this last year and I thought something was nibbling the petals - but I've realised it just grows like this. I like it. Not sure where I got it or whether it's some kind of fluke. Has anyone else seen a geranium do this?

AnneKipanki · 05/06/2021 19:45

I did see one on the internet but can't find it's name.

Notsogreenthumb · 05/06/2021 19:53

@WobblyLondoner I believe that is geranium oxonianum f thurstonianum. Please don't ask me why I know that Confused

Notsogreenthumb · 05/06/2021 19:53

And it really is stunning @WobblyLondoner. I like the sharpness to it

WobblyLondoner · 05/06/2021 20:01

Oh wow, that is indeed the one - many thanks @Notsogreenthumb.

Sweetpea1532 · 05/06/2021 20:09

@KingscoteStaff
Beautiful roses!
@WobblyLondoner
Lovely geranium! No telling what all is in your urban garden paradise. You've made such a peaceful oasis within the busy city environment...I can imagine with your love and care seeds that have been hidden in the soil for possibly decades are starting to sprout and the birds and other animals are bringing in seeds. What fun to watch your garden come to fruitionFlowers

Sweetpea1532 · 05/06/2021 20:13

@Notsogreenthumb
Super idea to plant in planter boxes...I wish I'd done that! When we moved house I had to leave all my lovelies behind! Broke my heart..especially when I went by awhile later and saw that the new tenants had torn everything up and put it new😭

Sweetpea1532 · 05/06/2021 20:29

I also wasn't aware that when you are selling a home that anything in the garden must stay as it was when the new owners viewed the propertyConfused
Unless of course you've specified that a particular item isn't included....I had no idea until the new people threw a tantrum that we'd taken our backyard swing with us..there was no way they were getting that swing back...I'd rocked my babies in it!
The attached photo is one that DIL sent me from her garden in South US...the butterfly stayed for about 10 minutes whilst enjoying only the purple lobelia..I didn't know that it is such a butterfly magnet.

Spent the day at the beach today and walked past these poppies. They're the biggest poppies I've ever seen! And so beautiful too

AnneKipanki · 05/06/2021 22:59

Yes. That is right @Sweetpea1532, you have to specify if you are taking things, although I did not realise it meant swings .

OP posts:
Sweetpea1532 · 06/06/2021 02:57

Ak, their children had enjoyed the swing whilst the parents were looking at the house...so when they came to do the "handing over of the keys" ..the first thing they complained about was that we'd taken the swing and said it was supposed to go with the house...they stopped short of saying that the deal was off, thoughGrin

applecatchers36 · 06/06/2021 08:57

Sweetpea the Butterfly looks very large sitting on the lobelia. About 3 years ago my daughter went to an exhibition of living Butterflys at the Natural history Museum. She came back with some amazing photos of Butterfly's resting on her, they would land on you if you kept very still.

Kingscote that rambling rose looks very abundant and romantic.

Furries are the pale, frayed tulips parrot tulips?

Pic of some wallflowers and aquelgias

Yes, most of my marigolds got eaten but the metal pot seems to have fended off the slugs on this one, thankfully.
