Just a little fourward planning . We are all looking forward to another thread of fabulous pictures. It can be a quiet time but I am sure some of us will have autumnal colours to share . The trees are starting to turn here . I have just picked an allium from my photo collection to start the thread off .
You are very welcome to finish or visit the old thread . I do not know how to do ... this is the old thread here thing .

@AnneKipanki
Thank you! They are such unusual looking flowers and they last for ages in a vase
I just noticed my sweetpeas are starting bloom...looking forward to their sweet smell
The weather reports over here make it seem as if the whole of the UK is under 2 metres of snow...I hope they are just exaggerating

AnneKipanki · 24/01/2021 20:01

It is not that bad where I am . 😂

@AnneKipanki
Glad to hear that you aren't buried under mounds of snow..

The ground squirrels have discovered my front slope now...3 agave eaten in 3 days....I'm surrendering on that war I started with them 🏳🏳🏳🏳🏳🐿🐿🐿🐿. I decided it wasn't worth me falling down my front slope to do battle.
They also ate the roots of my blue chalk fingers Hmm

Although you have no snow I hope you are relaxing by a nice warm fireFlowers
My succulents are in full bloom and the sweetpeas are starting to show up.
The deep magenta is bougainvillea

Lovely @Sweetpea1532 . We do have snow now .
If I am able I might pop out to take a photo, or I could take it from inside.

Wow! You've got a winter wonderland themed garden going on...is that you're Holly Tree?
Will your beautiful green carpet of moss"grass" survive the snow?Grin

AnneKipanki · 09/02/2021 16:14

It is the holly tree . I am sure the grass /moss will survive.

@AnneKipanki
Brrrr...thanks for sharing your photos...is it common for your area to get snow?

I've decided on a new battle plan to save my agave from the pesky rootball eating squirrels...I dug the plants out and will put them in pots until the squirrels think they eaten them all. Then I will replant the agave with small chicken wire all round the hole so they can't get to the rootball. Fingers crossed my great idea works Grin
Now I need to come up with a plan to keep the grubs from destroying them also Hmm

AnneKipanki · 14/02/2021 18:12

It used to be common but not so now.

@AnneKipanki

My mum has mossy grass, too...such a lovely green...I've never visited in February so I had no idea. Here's hoping the snow hasn't killed yours, AK.

Wow @Sweetpea1532 🤩 That colour from the Bougainvillea is incredible! So vibrant! And so different to what I have at the moment, my garden looking very similar to @AnneKipanki's. Still pretty wintery, although sunshine is forecast for the next week or so, so at least it feels like the promise of spring is in the air! Some Crocus have begun to poke their heads up, but very tiny at the moment. Jealous of your Sweet Peas too, I haven't even sowed my seeds yet!

Thanks, I feel very blessed to have the bougainvillea in my garden..it is kind of messy when the red leaves/flower things drop, but a beautiful mess so I really don't mind since they stay red.
I was surprised at the sweetpeas since they are the wild variety and reseed themselves and I never know where they are going to pop up. But boy do they smell delicious.
Can't wait to see everyone's new spring colours.
I'm at my mum's house in the southern US right now...I just noticed the peach trees and blueberries I planted last year are starting to put out buds..I'm praying the extremely cold weather we're having here doesn't affect them...but I think I recall that they need lots of chill hours so maybe they'll be okay Flowers

Gorgeous vibrant Bougainvilleas Sweetpea look positively tropical from the wintery UK. But spring is coming and spotted these sweet snowdrops on our woodland walk today...

I pruned my roses today, and thought of you all.

It's so lovely to see this thread still active.

So happy to see my little crocus', and camellias are about to bloom Smile

It was the longest winter ever!

Thank you! One of my favourites.
Your little snowdrops are adorable.

@AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet
Thank you for thinking of us! @AnneKipanki and I have been hanging in here by a thread hoping for Spring to finally arrive.

Glad you and apples are back!

I'm in the Southeast US and camellias bloom here starting in early January. I never realised how hardy they are!
Reminds me of my teenage years(1970's) when my parents invited my new boyfriend to accompany our family to visit Camellia Gardens. He accepted the invitation and off we went on a 2 hour car ride to tour the huge multi-acre beautiful gardens...he must have really been in love to endure that family outing...I don't know any other reason that a 16 year old boy would want to come along to view the lovely flowers ( I remember that we were all decked out in our Sunday best... he wore a suit with a tie..had to be true love)😂
