Just a little fourward planning . We are all looking forward to another thread of fabulous pictures. It can be a quiet time but I am sure some of us will have autumnal colours to share . The trees are starting to turn here . I have just picked an allium from my photo collection to start the thread off .
You are very welcome to finish or visit the old thread . I do not know how to do ... this is the old thread here thing .

Love that @Sweetpea1532!

VenusClapTrap · 29/12/2020 20:06

I love your ‘sticks on fire’ succulents, Sweetpea.

Sweetpea1532 · 30/12/2020 09:16

I'm glad you like the "sticks on fire"
Beautiful neon orange and they almost don't look real..
Unfortunately I found out the hard way that if you touch the white sap from a snapped stick and then you later touch your eyes you will have " eyes on fire"!!! I had no idea they are so toxic...I had even washed my hands after gardening..I guess they have oils that are hard to remove....
It took hours of flushing my eyes with water in the shower to get even the slightest relief.
@SantaPranki...I went alittle crazy with the garden fairy lights...found that out today when I went to disassemble the display...over 40 strings of light....hate to see our upcoming electrical bill Grin

Happy New Year Everyone!
I was out in my garden yesterday to see if I could find anything interesting to show you, but I couldn't find anything too exciting that I've not already posted.
Although when the sun set, we were treated with this most glorious sky. Since it is so colourful and the backdrop to a rare variety of pinetree (Torrey Pine, like the golf course) I thought maybe it could squeeze by in qualifying for the requirements of @AnneKipanki
Post to have a thread of our garden colours.

@applecatchers36
Thanks for the impromptu photos of the sweet daffodils you found on your walk. I love how bulbs just pop up every year out of nowhere, it seems..
My neighbour passed in her 90s, but every year we were reminded of her when out popped the primrose that she'd planted many years before her death.Smile

Welcome, @Ziggydancer..
Isn't this post that @AnneKipanki started amazing?...such a great idea.
I've learned so much about what posters from many different areas of the world are doing in their gardensFlowers

I was out for a walk at lunchtime. Can you spot the squirrel?

Hahahalol @AnneKipanki
I've spotted lots of things that look like a squirrel but I'm not sure if I've spotted the one you are talking about...is that him perched on a branch in the nook of that gorgeous evergreen?

I'm glad you like our colours, AK. The scene is different but equally colourful every evening.

AnneKipanki · 06/01/2021 07:49

It is .
It's a big one . It ran up with a big bit of food . Stopped there . Ate it .

I took the photo on the way back as it was still there . They usually scarper . It just did the minimum.

@AnneKipanki
He's probably been watching you for ages and has gotten used to you or other people who walk by. Is your walking spot as serene as it looks in the photo?
We only have ground squirrels here...they are cheeky little things! They love to tunnel under the flowers and munch on the roots of my prized plants

AnneKipanki · 06/01/2021 13:24

You are probably right @Sweetpea1532 .

AnneKipanki · 06/01/2021 13:25

It is a small pleasant park . There is a walled garden. Unfortunately it was shut as it was too icy underfoot.

@AnneKipanki
Is your area getting the terrible storm that has been reported for the UK?

AnneKipanki · 06/01/2021 20:27

It might be tomorrow 😮

Me again...
Those ground squirrels I was telling you about decided to make a meal of the root ball of one of my agave plantsHmm. They tunneled over to it and went to town...as you can see from the photo it appears something has smashed it..but instead the squirrels ate the root and then the leaves fell over...I guess it's kind of like when we eat the artichoke heartGrin

As they say..."speaking of the devil". ..I was just looking at that plant yesterday afternoon...so when I was posting last night at 12:09a.m. California time(8:09am in the UK this morning) they were munching away.

VenusClapTrap · 06/01/2021 23:26

Wow. I didn’t know anything ate Agaves. Every day is a (home)school day. Shock

AnneKipanki · 07/01/2021 07:54

Just catching up on the thread, great photos as always 😊

Those pesky squirrels have certainly done some damage there @Sweetpea1532 😲

I'm so pleased the thread is still going, I've just taken some pictures so that I can contribute! Much less snow than normal so far this winter, but everything is blanketed in white ❄️

Thanks @AnneKipanki, yes the snow does help to disguise how bare the garden is underneath!

You've got some lovely colours going on in your garden though, with the sun shining through that hedge and those impressive trees against the blue sky!

Sweetpea1532 · 07/01/2021 18:13

@VenusClapTrap

The squirrels eating the agave are pretty unusual.I've only had it happen a few times in 20 years of growing them. I think when the squirrels are tunneling through underground they just happen to come upon the root ball and have a rare feast....agave are very easy to grow so I'm not too upset about it...the only time it gutted me was when they munched on the blue agave my husband brought home from Mexico....it was the variety that tequila is made from. I had grown it from a pup and was planning dreaming on making my own tequila one dayGrin
Also, this year I am having a bigger issue with grubs causing root rot..I've probably lost at least 10 huge plants that were a metre or more wide...see attached photo.

LOL, @AnneKipanki
Your Halloween name change was so clever!!!
