What a lovely thread!

I'm very much of the plonk-it-in-the-ground-and-hope-it-survives school of gardening, but I do do a bit of nurturing from time to time. This year I'm very excited by my raspberries. There have been enough for everyone at home to have a handful every day!

Thank you Beebumble. I'll move them now 😱😀

beautyisfoundwithin · 06/07/2020 18:32

What a lot of work @TwigTheWonderKid! I'd be very pleased with it too.

I hope the weather has improved for all of those who have had destructive winds.

Lovely cottage garden bed @Beebumble2, I would love something like that, but I'm not quite there yet.

Sorry to hear about your cats @Oldraver & @RaptorInaPorkPieHat. I don't have any flower pictures from today but can add two cats. They're not as beautiful as Cookie & Kit Kat but I often find our two boys all cuddled up together looking cute!

Gorgeous rose Randyis it Rosa Mundi?

Speaking of roses can anyone identify this David Austin rose. We planted it when we first moved here 20 years ago and I think it’s beginning to fail. It has the most glorious smell.

@AnneKipanki That's such a beautiful shrub. Ours is still a baby, just planted last year, but I'm hoping it might flower in late summer. I keep discovering things damaged by the recent winds. Some lovely lupins in a gorgeous rich purple, which were in their second flush, have been snapped off at the base. ☹️

The good news is that the wind has dropped and I have a day planned in the garden, weeding and sowing some perennial seeds for next year! Some of our greenhouse tomatoes are beginning to ripen too which is exciting!

AnneKipanki · 07/07/2020 07:37

Thanks @catwithflowers , it is my favourite.
Have a lovely day in the garden.

Aren't poppies amazing? How is it they can't hold the flower head up, yet can when it blooms? These are beautiful and are a real pop of colour in amongst everything else.

Some of my poppies together with plant eating dog. He’s a menace - I caught him nibbling poppy seed heads this morning.

Gorgeous @RaptorInaPorkPieHat
Poppies are so simple yet such pretty and effective flowers.
@waltzingparrot the last photo of all your pots looks really lovely !!

AnneKipanki · 07/07/2020 13:49

Is that crocosmia in your pot @waltzingparrot ? Beautiful ..

OP posts:
waltzingparrot · 07/07/2020 13:58

@AnneKipanki Well I has to look up what crocosmia was, but yes that's exactly what's in there. Been in there for years and never fails.

beautyisfoundwithin · 07/07/2020 15:01

This thread has definitely convinced me to have more Poppies next year!

Sharing some little splashes of colour from my garden today.

@waltzingparrot I love your massed pots!

I think I’ve got quite a few of the same plants but yours are in better nick than mine (eg my yellow osteospermum has stopped flowering 🤔)

Jenasaurus · 07/07/2020 15:10

So today has been a good garden day, I had a trip to the garden centre as I desperately needed some time out of the house. While I was out the David Austin roses came, they are amazing a lot bigger than I was expecting. So I have finished my pot patio that I built at the weekend.

I can't believe how many buds and flowers they have, such healthy plants.

waltzingparrot · 07/07/2020 15:55

@GiantKitten Half of the flowers blooming in my pots came out of one of those mixed packets of seeds for 99p!

catwithflowers · 07/07/2020 16:00

@ditavonteesed Sorry if you've already said somewhere on the thread, but what kind of roses did you get? That one in the picture looks beautiful Smile
