This is one of my favourite rose color....she doesn't have a name...I bought for my mum when I was visiting last year...$2.50 from wal-mart's ready for the bin shelf. This year she(rose) was so happy that I rescued her(rose) last year that she keeps on blooming and blooming. Lol, just put something together...my mum's name is Rose, too so if I sent this to someone who knows her they wouldn't know who or which one was I was referring toGrin

Btw, that thermometer reading of 99°F(37°C) is from my lounge a few minutes ago( 5:15PM US west coast time)...I drenched everything yesterday so fingers crossed all my plants survive. Praise the Lord we are not having any fires near where I live. I really feel so sorry for the people and animals affected!

@AnneKipanki
Yours is gorgeous, too. I think it looks like what is called here...an American Beauty...the nerve of the US for pinching this one from the UK and trying to claim it as their own

Sweetpea1532 · 06/09/2020 17:58

Oh no! Another one bites the dust! Went out this morning to have a look around and saw that another limb of my cactus had snapped off...you know it's hot when a cactus that can withstand the heat of the desert continues to falter in these sweltering temps 2 miles away from the ocean.
(Actually, I am not too upset because now I will be able to plant it with his brother and start another little cactus garden up front. I tried to plant the first broken arm last week but everywhere I thought it might look nice ended up looking like a giant green phallic symbolGrin so at least now I can have a grouping)

On another note, my plumeria is loving this heat. I had to put it up on Gracie's little fenced in area to keep the squirrels from eating every little leaf as soon as one would pop out. The flower colour will be a surprise Smile

Very impressive second show on the Aldi Dahlia @BewareTheBeardedDragon!

Yes @Sweetpea1532, it really does surprise everybody! I can't count the number of times DH has said to me "I have no idea what you are planning to achieve here" or "this is never going to work" only to end up begrudgingly admitting that it looks good after it's all finished! 😂 Glad to hear you've been saved by another broken cactus to avoid the giant phallic symbol!😁

What exquisite red blooms you have on that rose @AnneKipanki 😍

I've chosen to take some photos of bright cheerful colours today 🌻

I LOVE roses, so it's lovely to see so many good ones here. Do you know the name of your beautiful rose below Houseinthemiddle?

I've attached a pic of my Marc Chagall rose bought on whim at the Hampton Court flower show a few years ago. It's halfway down my garden so I don't see the stripes really, but it is a beautiful luminous pink, with orange buds. It's a bit of a gloomy pic, but hopefully you get the idea!

So many gorgeous pics to catch up on. Sorry for my absence, I have returned back to work after mat leave so life has sped up some. What a variety of lovely pics to look through !! I'll try and go out and post one of the sunflowers

catwithflowers · 10/09/2020 03:55

Such love photos, ladies 😊. It certainly is feeling autumnal now although my sweet peas are still romping away! I'm cutting huge bunches of them on very long stems for the house.

Such a lovely cheering thread.

I posted on here a while back asking for advice so thought I would update with my DA Thomas Becket. It is looking so gorgeous, the first thing I do every morning when I get up is have a look at it BlushGrin we won't talk about the hydrangeas

As I have never successfully grown anything previously here is a photo to say thank you.

So many lovely pictures!
I love the sweet peas, they are beautiful. I tried to grow some this year but I think the slugs got the little seedlings.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 10/09/2020 14:59

It is such a lovely thread.
I don't post often, but love to look at the pictures each day

Here are my anemones today, and my hog eating a plum that had fallen from the tree, a few nights ago. I was frantically googling to see if hedgehogs can eat fruit.

@IKillMyPlantsToDeath that is beautiful. It's so rewarding when things grow well. I think we've all had our fair share of disasters 😬

I've been away for a few days and got back to a very thirsty garden, especially the plants grown in pots and the tomatoes, but amazingly, nothing has died! In fact, loads of hardy annuals (which I started at the end of August so they would be early next year) have sprouted and are doing well.

Some mystery plants that I asked about on another thread and later identified as helenium have grown like crazy in the last week. The eryngium is also doing well as is the coreopsis I planted in May and gave up on as it was so slow. Definitely one to some earlier next year!

I'm just hoping the frosts stay away for at least another month to get the benefit of these beautiful late flowers 😊
