Ooh, that is a lovely Clematis NoFlora. I have a few that have suddenly decided to go for it after 2-3 years in the ground, so I guess that’s just what they do? 🤔

My contribution for the day is yet another rose: Scepter’d Isle. I just love the shape of the flowers on this one ☺️

With the exception of two roses I planted this year and, the always late, Thomas A Beckett, all my roses are now flowering. I guess the time has come for me to find some other plants to take photos off!

@beebeeduck love your bee watering station!

Oldraver · 22/05/2020 12:31

@beautyisfoundwithin the lights saga continues. Bought soem at the garden centre and even pressed the little button that displayed them, and they still look amberish on the plant even though supposed to be white. OH suggested giving them a few days to totally recharge and they may glow whiter --think he's mistaken-

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 22/05/2020 12:36

That's a really beautiful rose @Crazzzycat

I have my very first rose bloom of the season today. It's 'Wild Edric'. I've 3 of them planted together, so I can't wait until they're in full bloom.
I can get the scent from just that one bloom, several feet away.

I'm sure you won't have to wait too much longer AnneKipanki Smile

I should have waited a few more hours before taking a picture!

Those are gorgeous Always and Weeping.

May is my favourite month I think, so much promise. Look at all these buds.

Wow @Weepingwillows12 & @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet those are beautiful!

@Oldraver 😂 I think he's probably mistaken too! Although if he's anything like my DH he'll probably insist they definitely do look whiter after a full charge!!

Not nearly as stunning as the other photos shared today, but my Bleeding Heart is now starting to flower, and I have some nice blues and purples in an area right at the back of my garden that I let grow wild for the insects.

All beautiful 🌸

@Noflora That is so true about May. I thought exactly that today. I have Rhododendron, a Rose and a Camellia in bloom at the same time. There is no other month in the year when this will happen Smile

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 22/05/2020 18:32

And the Laburnum trees and Wisteria (I have neither)!

Crazzzycat · 22/05/2020 18:57

Ooh, I absolutely love bleeding hearts @beautyisfoundwithin So pretty and the bumble bees love it too ☺️

I totally agree about May being the best month. It really is full of promise!

I got a delivery of some Cosmos today. I’m quite excited I managed to get my hands on some without needing to go to a garden centre

Weepingwillows12 · 22/05/2020 19:12

I am going to try growing cosmos from seed. Might be a bit late but got free seeds so worth a try.

Oldraver · 22/05/2020 20:09

I left this weed as it was colourful and so glad I did as it had a whole load of birds on it earlier

The blummin slugs have eaten my Cali rich is the buggers

And my new water butt with bee lights, my neighbours will live me

You reminded me that we have solar bee lights too so I put them on our balcony railings today! Your bee butt though is truly a thing of wonder Grin

beautyisfoundwithin · 22/05/2020 22:07

Me too @Crazzzycat, and I love watching the bumble bees dangling from it - although my DH doesn't agree and calls it "the big weed" 🤦🏼‍♀️

My Cosmos seedlings were some of the worst hit by the slugs in the last few days, so not sure if I'll have any this year, unless I get myself to the garden centre soon!

@Crazzzycat David Austin roses were featured on Gardeners' World last night. They showed a Thomas À Becket Smile

AnneKipanki · 23/05/2020 10:24

All gorgeous!
Love the bee line of lights!

Witch that is a lovely colour

When we thought the sun had destoyed DS's Oriental we bought two more. I think he chose a pink one not sure as only the original has bloomed so far, the others are teetering on blooming

And yes we have a photo form when it was at it's biggest and was bigger than DS's hand

Ipadipod · 23/05/2020 11:23

@AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet are they from a wildflower mix ? I have a little area I would like with some of those poppies

I only took 760g of poppy seeds off last year. The year before it was 2kg

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 23/05/2020 11:44

They are wildflower mix. My husband did something to that area of ground.. I don't know the correct terminology- ploughed it? Blush last autumn, and I just scattered boxes of seeds everywhere.
Of course I didn't look after it properly damn him for being right so it's mostly weed and grass, but lots of pretty things popping up too Smile

Wow, wow, wow! I’m practically exploding with poppy envy here!

Silly question perhaps, but do you all grow them from seed, or buy them as plants? I so need some in my life!

I don’t usually watch gardener’s world, but it sounds like I should watch last night’s episode AlwaysOnABloodyDiet. Mind you, it might result in even more rose purchases 😂

Today’s flower is Clematis Red Cardinal. This one never seems to produce more than a few flowers a season for me, so it’s a bit of a rare treat
