You can put the flowers onto salads or pimms!

applecatchers36 · 21/06/2020 09:46

Pimm's sounds like a good plan!

Penstemon Raven - a left over from a time when I thought dramatic dark flowers were the way to go...They like my garden so much, they’re slowly but surely smothering it in dark flowers 😄

I love the contrast between the colour of that rose and the fence @RaptorInaPorkPieHat

I have been feeling mildly irritated by the extending tentacles from one of my house leeks for some time, then this morning I came out to this! I'm no longer irritated! Grin

I love it when succulents flower BewareTheBeardedDragon even though I know they do, it's still somehow a surprise Smile

Crazzzycat · 21/06/2020 16:38

My gorgeous white clematis has started flowering, except...it’s pink and looks nothing like the one that was flowering last year 😱

Is anyone here a clematis expert? These can’t possibly the same plant can they?! What’s going on?!

I actually prefer the pink flowers I’m getting this year, but am just a little bit thrown 😂

Maybe the grower accidently put a pink seed in the pot too. Is it flowering off last years's stems though?

I like succulents, in the garden I have them in pots too far from the waterbutts for watering,I can pretty much ignore them apart from enjoying the effect.

My Charles Darwin rose is still going strong.

I wonder if it's grown from below the graft (assuming it's been grafted onto a root stock) like roses do.......

I have a ton of houseleeks (the plant you can't kill) I started with one tiny plant and now I've got half a dozen pots full of them.

AnneKipanki · 21/06/2020 19:04

Will it fade to white @RaptorInaPorkPieHat ?

@Crazzzycat It's a clematis miracle! The white flowers are beautiful but the pink is gorgeous. Be interesting to see what you get next year.
What a lovely thread. I shall add my delphiniums which have usually been eaten by now but this year have thrived.

Wow those delphiniums are amazing, never seen any like that before. It is a lovely thread.

I don't know where it seeded from but my front garden would be only borage if I let it. I love blue flowers and was thrilled to see it but it has become a thug.

My newly planted Ghislaine de feligond is flowering, it is pretty. I have high hopes it will hide a very bare fence right outside a window.

Those delphiniums are pretty @Livelongandprosper .
I was picking sawfly larvae off my polygonatum last night... great job !

I like the idea of a clematis that changes colour every year Livelongandprosper, but I guess NoFlora’s theory is the most likely. There has to be more than one clematis in that pot! I shall patiently wait for some of the other buds to open

Today’s floral contribution is this hydrangea. It’s one of the many plants my DH picked. To me there’s just something totally wrong about a hydrangea that flowers in June, but he loves it, so what can I do?! 😂

That is lovely @Crazzzycat . @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet loves hydrangea.

Crazzzycat · 22/06/2020 16:04

Oops, I hope I haven’t insulted AlwaysOnABloodyDiet 😬 I like hydrangea too, but June is just a little too early for me 🙈

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 22/06/2020 16:32

Did someone mention Hydrangea? 😂

Not at all @crazzzycat
My sister once told me that she doesn't like them because they remind her of graveyards... it's funny the connections our minds can make. I've never seen a Hydrangea in a graveyard! Confused
You have the most peculiar seasons in your garden, Japanese anemones before Hydrangea and June being early for Hydrangea? I wouldn't say it's early? It's beautiful.
One of my Aldi ones was labeled as blue and I planted it using ericaceous compost, but it's still transitioning to pink Confused

@popgoesperfection I'm sure you won't have to wait much longer. We've had days of heavy rain and hot sunshine, so the flowers exploded into bloom Smile

Coffee grounds and ground up citrus peelings ... dig into the soil around the plant @AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet .

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 22/06/2020 16:54

I will try those AnneKipanki It's in a pot, so I thought it would be easy to retain the blue 😑

I will be happy with pink anyway, of course Smile

DENMAN03 · 22/06/2020 22:03

I planted some poppies from seed earlier this year. They have just started to flower and they look amazing! The bees can't get enough of them.

@Terralee

A friend gave me this plant called Borage, it's a herb.
I use these flowers to decorate plates of food when I'm doing some fancy cooking for friends!
